Scooterollie, The main goal of replacing the air filter was getting rid of the ugly plactic air filter box. I'm not going after a better hp or performance. As you said, the scooter's performance is good enough the way it is and I rarely hit speeds over 50Mph anyway. I was just looking for some cheap way to enhance the look of the scooter. This is not a priority for me right now but I will keep searching. Thanks, Nik

Nik, I understand. Not a bad idea. Would simplify air filter service.

guzmanr The air filter that comes standard on the Linhai 300 can be replaced fairly easily with a Uni Filter. I first removed the duct that is attached to the filter box cover it is just pushed on and looks like a snorkle. This alone should improve air flow to the filter. Next get a 1-1/2" PVC coupler from Home Depot or Lowes, this should have a circumference of 2", and can be pushed onto the air cleaner joint, which is the actual duct attached to the carburetor. Use a hose clamp to tighten the duct to the coupler. Then use a 2 inch ID Uni Filter in either single or 2 stage, either 4 or 6 inch length and attach the the coupler with the included clamp. Reinstall the housing cover and it is done. I have not noticed any adverse effects in performance. The following pictures show a 4" straight single stage filter which I am replacing with a 2 stage angled 6" filter this week. I got my part number from the Uni Filter web site and then ordered the part from Bike Bandit. Remember to oil the filter, the pre-filter on the 2-stage filter can be oiled or not depending on riding conditions. I know this is an old post and you haven't been active on the forum since this year 2012 in April, but would it be possible to repost the pics? James
