You are welcome. Which Wylie Texas do you live in? The one northeast of Dallas or the one just south of Abilene?

Wide Awake Wylie, just northeast of Dallas.
If you're EVER in the area, you must enjoy breakfast at the Ballard Street Cafe....I'll buy if I can pick your brain for a few hours. ;D

Well first the battery can be bad. It is very common for the OEm battery to fail within a few hours of using the scooter. You need to check that. Then check to see if you do have a drain on the battery. Remove the fuse on the battery black wire, and connect a ammeter across the two fuse holder contacts and see if you have a current draw or not. With the ammeter connected reasonably well, fire up the engine and see if it is charging the battery or not. Then put the fuse back in and use the voltmeter to measure the charging voltage. It is possible for one of the alternator wires to be loose or poorly connected, so you will need to trace the wires.

This evening, while checking the scooter and making sure the tires were inflated OK, I discovered the rear tire had picked up a thingie that had punctured through the tire. When I pulled it out, I was surprised to find that the bigger knurled end was inside with the little end out the outside. Go figure. Anyway since the tire had been proven to work Ok as a run flat tire with no air in it earlier, I plugged it. It has about 1500 more miles to go on it before I need to replace it. The tire is really thick and heavy duty, and I had a devil of a time getting the plug in. Normally on a motorcycle or scooter tire I seriously suggest not plugging the tire. Normal higher profile tires can cause you to loose control if the tire goes flat at speed. But the 13 inch tire and wheel is a low profile design. Plus the Pirelli tires are really stiff and thick with reinforced sidewalls. The tire bead is also very tight on the wheel rim as well. So if the tire goes flat, you may or may not notice it right away.

One of our forum members "Frank" scanned his Red Roketa and got the paint scan numbers for it: "This May or may not help somebody. I took my scooter Roketa 250b or MC54 250B to the paint store and had it scanned. It is Roketa RED, I got 2 scans for 2 kinds of paint one of the scans was for Deltron 2000(dbc) 918129 prophet The mix Formula 918129.This is the base coat. both paints needs a enamel clear coat. The second scan was for a PPG paint omni au (mae) 3695 prophet formula 3695 Which I had it mix and put in spray can. Now I was told that this should be very close to the paint that cane on the scooter but with time paint can loose color. Paint mixes change from batch to batch. Sun, Rain,Dirt, all change paint. With that all said this is as close as it can get. Hope that this will help someone. "

That's great Earl. 'Ole Yeller has been sitting idle in the garage for the last several months stuck at 14,000 miles. Hopefully my son will start riding her soon.

Let's start with any easy fix, raven, check all your vacuum hoses to make sure they aren't loose somwhere. or even kined or cracked.
If your sucking too much air in somewhere, it won't idle.

raven, First you need to adjust the intake and exhaust valve gaps. .004 inch intake and .006 inch exhaust is the typical gaps to set. That is a classic sign the valve gaps has closed up. It affects the pulse pump by reducing the engine vacuum pulses the pump uses.

Similar problem here with fan coming on too much and draining battery. Traced my problem to a faulty radiator fan switch. Any /one else have this experience?

is there a tool that will hold the clutch while I loosen the nut? Thanks. One can use a variator tool. Further back I discussed the tool and how I fabricated one out of some aluminum rectanglular bar stock. I am trying to remember, but you might try putting the bike on the side stand and pull in on the rear brake to lock up the wheel. Then you should be able to unscrew the clutch nut. But it has been a while since I messed with it, so I am not sure at this time.

Similar problem here with fan coming on too much and draining battery. Traced my problem to a faulty radiator fan switch. Any /one else have this experience? What I did was replace the tailight bulbs with the largest LED light units I could get at the time. I also replaced the running lights and turn signal lights with LED ones too. That reduces the current flow going to the lights significantly. Thus now, as long as I don't have to get stuck in a traffic jam for a long time, my scooter comes out about even on the current draw when the radiator fan is on. In the winter it wasn't a problem, but in the summer, I had to top off the battery charge on the weekends because of the current draw on the electrical system. Replacing as many lights as I could with LED ones got it to come out about even for my riding in the city.

I like the replacement of the stock air filter to a K&N type gauze filter, but can you tell me the K&N part number? They have too many available for me to take a guess at $35.00 - $50.00 each!!! Maybe if you can let me know the size opening in the filter box where the filter mount to it would help me locate the correct filter. THANKS!!!!

I forget what the actual filter was that I used, But Volkswagon single barrel Weber carb would fit just right like is shown here, so since I had one already, what the heck. You know I got to thinking about that air filter, and it could be one for a Quarter Midget racer or a high powered go kart, I am not sure now. At the time I had opened up the air filter box and measured it and found that a angled K&N style air filter would fit. So I went looking for one that met those requirements.
