Does anyone know what the difference is between a 10" standard diameter tire and 13" low profile tire? Are they similar? If they are the same or close the discussion is mute.

My scooter (its the roadster model) has 13 inch wheels front and back and the rims are 3 spoked. They are small 13 inch wheels and I think they are lower profile than a standard 10 inch wheel. If this is truly the case, my scooter should handle better, but ride rougher than a 10 inch wheel model.

Also as far as I can tell, I definitely have the cfmoto 244 engine with 13 inch wheels, so this combination does exist.

As far as the radio installation, its mounted in the far back of the underseat area. There is also a volume/power on off controll on the dash (left side). I really haven't messed with much. Weather turned very cold around here and I just haven't ridden it in the last week or so.
The fuel pump is from Autozone. I tried used the Mr. Gasket pump that was recommended in the forums and it leaked. When I returned it, they guy at the counter said that several others had been returned and he picked out a low pressure pump from their brand of pumps that they stock for automobiles. Really any brand of low pressure fuel pump would work.
The winshield is great, I highly, highly recommend it compared to the stock size windscreen.

Mickey, So you do have 13" wheels with lower profile tires. Can you tell us the tire sizes front and rear? It would be something like 130/60-13 or 120/70-13. This information will address the whole situation. The 10" wheels that have been required on the CF Moto 244cc engine have always had 3.50" tires. So the overall diameter is 17". On the CF Moto Fashion (Helix clone) there is no room to move the tire and wheel forward into the engine, or rearward into the frame and body of the scooter. In other words, that's as large as it can be for that model application. But that doesn't mean that a larger wheel / tire couldn't be put on (given a longer swingarm design for the engine) to a different scooter model... I'm thinking now Mickey, that your tire and wheel combination isn't any larger than a 10" wheel with a 3.5" tall tire. Let us know... Thanks, Jim J... Bandit MotorSports www.bandit-motorsports.com

Thats my thought also Jim, but it seems to me that I remember seeing a post that a 130/60-13 tire was 19" in diameter. Get out your measuring tapes dawgs!

Found it: That was your post Jim but I think that was calculations not an actual measurement of 19"

Mickey, What is the actual diameter of your tires, out side to outside

Last Fall I measured the height of a 130/60X13" wheel & tire, comparing it to the 120/90X10" rear wheel & tire on my Roketa Bali 250. Don't remember the exact results but the 13" was definitely taller! The 130/60X13 is a low profile tire but is still not as low as a high profile 10". But, as Jim said in a previous post, the 4.00/12" tire is taller than the 120/60X13" and is a good tire size for the 250s.

Mickey, Thanks for the info on your tire sizes. They are just over 19" in overall diameter. It's basically the same set up as a car tire. The '130' designation is the wheel width in mm.. the '60' designation is height of the tire off the wheel shown as a percentage of the width. In converting to imperial measurements, the 130mm width is 5.118 inches. Then multiply by 60% for the height ratio and you have 3.071 inches. So the overall diameter of the tire is 19.14" (3.07 +13.0 +3.07)... In that case, the 244cc engine in the Viva has been modified to accept the larger tire and wheel combination. There is absolutely no way for a 19" tire to fit on the Helix clone. The 10" rear wheel with 3.5" tall tires at 17" overall diameter barely fits as it is. There's very little clearance between the stock 17" tire and the engine crankcase... and there isn't the 1" extra that would be needed for the 19" tire to be mounted. Looks like ScooterOllie has his long rumoured CF Moto 244cc engine that will mount a 13" wheel... ( - ; Thanks, Jim J... Bandit MotorSports www.bandit-motorsports.com

I just got on Viva-motors web page and it looks like I waited too long to order my MP250RO. They have raised the price $975.00, to $2925.00, it was $1950.00, just when I finally talked the wife into ordering one. Mickey, where did you order yours from and how much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking. Anyone else know where I can get one at the old price? Now it's off to Scootertronics to look at their Express 250 for $2400.00.

I bought mine off of ebay from family motorsports, they are just a dropshipper dealer for viva. You may also want to try www.nstmotor.com . Thats newstar, they are also selling the same model. It wouldn't surprise me to see the price go up, I was very surprised that the roadster was as cheap as most of the other 250's when it appears that a bit of extra work went into the bodystyle/gauges to clone it on the Honda Reflex.

Mickey, I e-mailed the ebay seller and he replied that they will have the MP250RO back in stock next week! $1799.00 plus shipping.......Yes!...................... Right back in my price range, now if he just has it in yellow. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me! Oh, did you purchase the shipping insurance? or is it a gimmick?

I found an electric fuel pump at JC Whitney that delivers 2 to 4 psi. What psi is the universal from Autozone? The one at JC is about $40.

sorry about the late reply, the pressure is the same as the pump you found 2-4 psi.

No problems with my scooter at all. Its been a cold spring, so I only have about 500 miles on it. I really haven't messed with the radio at all. I highly recommend the scooter that I purchased. I am very impressed with the power of the motor. The scooter has all the power that I need (even with two people on it).

Boy, that Viva 250 sure does look an awful lot like the Redstreak Expressway 250 turns out that redstreak motors has it's brick & motrar shop/headquarters in marlboro MA, not 5 miles from where I work... their reflex clone is manufactured by Shanghai JMstar (check out the link below, which lists both 150cc and 250cc powered versions of that bodystyle)... www.jmstar-moto.com/jmstar/product-x.asp?id=111...as are their 50s and 150cc rides. redstreak motors also sells Hyosung motorcycles out of the dealership mickster, what mfgr does your viva list on the scoot's mfgr data plate? banditMS, does your shop have experience with Shanghai JMstar as a mfgr? I shall have to make another trip to Redstreak for a closer examination of the x-way 250... see how it compares with teh Viva

Update on my Viva 250RO.
I have 300 miles on it now and am pretty satisfied with it except for the on-going problems.
1. The fuel gauge sending unit is evidently coming from China. I offered to repair it if the dealer took it out, but he needs to return it for credit (broken), so I just need to wait.
2. The engine idle speed is erratic and can not be adjusted to function properly when engine is cold and hot. Sometimes idles over 2000 RPM and some times stalls. Dealer says he will put a new Japanese carb on it, but is waiting for the fuel gauge sending unit to do the whole job at once.
3. Apparent fuel starvation at highway speeds after 5 miles of driving. It appears to run out of fuel and I must reduce speed to about 35 to 40 MPH and close and open the throttle repeatedly to keep it running. I suspect the fuel pump is the problem here.
4. Battery went dead. Recharged the battery and then determined the charging system was not functioning. Dealer says it was just a loose wire.
5. Suffered various electrical failures and found the plug-together connectors under the front cowl had multiple loose connections. Tweaked those I could to tighten them and replaced a few of the (Chinese junk) OEM connectors.
6. Can not find any matching paint for touch up.
7. Wife wants me to "get my money back" due to so many on-going problems.
I'm thinking; If the dealer can't get it working properly in the next few weeks, I may just take the loss on it, sell it, and look for something better. This should alleviate problem # 7. :-) as well as the rest.
Anyone have a picture of what the fuel pump looks like and where it is located ? AJ

Your idle problem is probably related to a vacuum leak, check around the fuel pump,I suggest that all vacuum lines be replaced with high grade vacuum hoses. This may solve the fuel pump problem also, as it too is vacuum operated. Many of the cheap vacuum lines will collapse under operating temps. as high temp. causes the lines to weaken.

AJ - Sorry to hear about your scooter problems. I have the Viva 250 tourer. It seems to have a charging system defect also, but otherwise it runs great. In particular the idle is very steady; hot or cold. Good luck. gary

I was planning to buy a Viva 250RO, but with all the charging problems I am hearing about I think I am drifting to Scootertronics Expressway 250 instead. Brick and Mortar establishment an tech service, 12month warranty also. Just a few hundred bucks more!

Yes my machine is also made by jmstar.
Also, the fuel pump is located behind the radiator.

Thanks to all who gave some feed back on my last post.
I haven't dug into the innards of the Viva just yet. The dealer frowns on the user "fixing" things as he feels responsible, at least while it is under warranty. I can't really complain about that as my warranty is for PARTS ONLY for 3 months, and so far he hasn't charged me anything for working on it. The mechanic is supposed th have 30 years experience with ATVs so we shall see how it goes.
I did suggest the fuel pump as a problem, so we will see what they do about that.
One thing I did change is the turn signal indicator lamps on the dash. Just not bright enough to see in sunlight. I put in some resistors and super bright LEDs and that took care of that problem.
When they get it running properly, I'll open it up change the lighting control to be switch operated. I had a bad experience driving down a steep winding dirt lane in the dark. The engine quit and I was in total darkness (No moon that night) and it was a bit scary trying to brake on loose stones in a curve on a hill and try to get the engine started at the same time. I did OK, but instantly recognized the folly of having lighting dependent on the engine running. I'll risk a dead battery rather than no lights. Suppose your on the highway doing 60 when the lights go out. Too many twisting mountain roads around here for that scenario.
