Hello dawgs this is my first post as a member but I've been lurking through the threads for a while now. This forum is great it has taught me how to do so much, now my taotao 50 cruises 45 easy. This happened last weekend and really broke my heart. I lent my scooter to a buddy for a weekend because his kids were coming over and they love my scooter. Apparently one of them crashed it going pretty fast around a corner and did some damage. Everyone is ok but I fell bad for my taotao. The metal transmission and gear case (I don't know the proper term) got cracked really bad and completely broke the kick starter off. To make it worse her knee smashed into the key and broke it off in the ignition. They tried to get the key out but stripped out the key hole. Now I am left with a great running scooter with no way to start and I am supposed to be in a small parade with about 150 other scooter riders this Saturday. I went and got a switch from RadioShack hoping I could use that instead of a key but I'm a horrible electrician. There are 4 wires that connected to the part you put the key in they were red, green, black, and black with a white stripe going down. Can you guys help me to get the electric start to work while I wait for a new kick starter to come in? I'm not really worried about not having a key it will probably just stay without one if I can get a switch rigged up. Any help would be greatly appreciated I didn't get to ride in the parade last year because of a similar event so I really don't want to miss this.8

That sucks man! Tao sells them, but they take at least 2 weeks to arrive. You could try to take out the piece of key, and weld it to a small ring or something...
Also, if you had a spare key (like you should...)... Worst case scenario, take the piece of key to the locksmith, and get it duplicated.
