My: "Peace Sports VIP Moped with HandsomeBoy Body #2 with the 2 small lights" has a blown low beam bulb. I pulled every screw on the front and the body work did not even loosen up. I opened the glovebox and got that one too. So is there a trick? When push comes to shove, I would like to spend my time on the right panel. So is the front or the rear panel that gives access? Does it have snaps too? I don't want to force it and break it. So any instructions would be great. At the rate the internet claims these scooters blow bulbs, I can't believe I have not found instructions.
Thanks!

Humm Well let's see, You have two screws near the top on the back side faceing you as your driving, you have one screw in front just under and between the two lights, you may also have a black plastic ring or scoop, at the very bottom of the front light plastic V, and above the front fender, it's kinda half ring that screws on from underneath.... Take out all the screws, and apply a little downward pressure on the flat spot above the lights and below the handlebars.. It should pop off..
If your blowing bulbs, while your in there, I would check the ground on your regulator. if its ground is bad or not grounding at all it will not be able to dump the excess power, this will cause blown bulbs... Fixed that on mine, drive it every day, have not had a bulb blow since...

You have to remove the little "visor" or hat bill looking thing that sticks out just above the front wheel, remove the screw in the center just under the lights, and the two screws facing you when you are sitting on the scooter and then grab the panel where the visor mounts and pull it downward toward the front wheel and it'll pop off there. When you put it back on you have to push upward. It's really simple once you know...
I had one like that thay blew both bulbs. I replaced the bulbs and they never blew again so I figure it was cheap bulbs. You may have a bad reg. as mentioned previously so order 4 bulbs

Thanks! I did not pull the visor off. Looked like it was part of it. I'll check the regulator.
I ordered 2 Hallogen bulbs. I hope that will improve the low beams. I'm fine with the high beams, but the other motorest are NOT.

Wipe them off well with a clean rag...and use the rag to install them. Had a customer that kept blowing bulbs...3rd one he bought from me...he needed to install on the spot to get home in the dark. Oil from his skin was on his hands...not good...and was why he was blowing bulbs. Maybe others never have a problem with a bulb being installed with bare hands...but more often than not..I see them burn out in a few hours or days when ya do...so I just play it safe and so far so good. Have had better results..

carasdad, thanks, I know about the don't touch part, but you got me thinking. Glass seems to always get a film over time. Our cars have pretty good seals to stop such. I wonder if with time the bulbs get a film simular to our hands touching them and then fail a year or two down the road.
It might make good sense to clean them anytime you were there ... say replacing the replacing the one next to the still good one.
Ummm ... I have one bike that the bulb is dull from so much crud baked on. I have tried to clean it, but it is baked on good. I will try harder the next time.

Carasdad, what company do you work for/sell from? I'm actually trying to find out what bulb to use in these scooters; I know the factory one is 35w judging from the ones for sale. Are they not halogen, though? Is there a more powerful one you can replace them with that aren't halogen? Just wondering what the typical replacement bulb is and then what the best replacement bulb is for this model. (Prices I've seen are about $5 so unlike turn-signal bulbs, don't think I'll be buying 4 at a pop; my low beam light just went out so I'm forced to used my high beams, which of course uses just the one bulb instead of both up front).

Should be the bullet type here www.scrappydogscooters.com/COMMON_PARTS.html check and see if yours has 18 or 35 watt . They are incandescent not halogen . I have used some ( forgot the brand ) of head light lens cleaner which has a mild abrasive and removes old film . Here is a whole headlight unit as well as other handsome boy parts www.scrappydogscooters.com/Handsome_Boy_parts.htmlI can see quite well my 2T that has a handsome boy body ( like Peace VIP ) and like having two in case one goes out I still have the second one instead of only having a single bulb . I replaced the tail light with a 1157 LED and it seems like the head lights go a hair brighter . It is waaaaaaay better than my TaoTao that was barely a candle Yes it is true about oils from your skin damaging a halogen as its printed on the label and of course I had to test it myself to verify it . Wipe your hands dry or use gloves . I park my scooters under a carport instead of being exposed to the Sun and rain . UV rays can dry out plastic parts so if you do not have a garage or shed then get a cover to protect it . Do not try the 55 watt bulbs as my scooter dealer and neighbor both told me about some that have melted the bulb housing as higher watt bulbs produce more heat . Some that do drill vent holes but if you have a 6 pole stator it may not charge the battery as good with higher wattage bulbs . I have seen some install LED cornering lights to have more lumens and LEDs do not pull as much power as a bulb does . Keep the lens clean really helps and I use regular car wax after cleaning and making sure its streak free . Carwax works better than RainX as water slides off instead of beading since the wax fills in pits and cracks I have even saw 2 with a miners hat with a light on it to help them see or be seen

Self employed...with a small business. I get my bulbs from my wholesaler. Some foreign car parts places carry them...lots cheaper than the 7-8 bux they want on Ebay for them. I use the 35w as most come with an 18w...and you can't well at night with the 18's...had many late night near scoot to deer collisions..but not with 35w bulbs...I can see the way ahead of time. It's just a guessing game on quality when you get them from Ebay..so I recommend any of the vendors in the banners above..as they have sold lots of bulbs and know which companies to avoid when buying them. When installing new bulbs ALWAYS check out the bulb socket as they are notorious for one post getting grounded out by touching the socket side. lastly...do as everyone above says to get to the bulbs...the Handsome Boy style is so easy to remove the panels..but as Fox says...don't forget the lil visor piece on the front end...held on by 2 screws..hard to get at sometimes...but needs to come off the slide front cowling piece off for access to the bulbs.

Ok, that will be very easy the next time. 6 screws and 1 bolt. About 1/6 that as a Town Car and about 1/2 hour faster. However the bulb that the internet listed was wrong. It does not have the washer like ring on it. I did see that the connections had been siliconed. Fuel lines replaced. Vacuum to go still. That makes me feel a little better riding it that I should not have some of the common problems that come stock.
I did notice they were 18/18watt. Cars hate my high beams. They have seen nothing yet. Lol! I hope I will not need the high beam like I was.
Anywon know if AutoZone, Pep Boys, and such carry them?

I have even saw 2 with a miners hat with a light on it to help them see or be seen Funny you mention that; I use my coleman headlamp (three brightness settings plus red/blue LEDs) for if I need more light or want to be seen but usually only very late at night since a paper boy almost took me out (his reason for being in my lane? The Royal Right bestowed upon paper delivery men to be in the wrong lane via Occupational License, i.e. he was full of sh).
