Got a new CY50-T3 and worked through most of the PDI recs (new plug, new oil, sealed electrical connections, etc.). Scooter runs pretty well, with GPS showing up to 30mph on the flat.
Now I'd like to do replace the carb. The (very helpful) forums here state that this scoot has a carb that is sealed. Others have reported swapping out the carb. My question is, as someone who doesn't really understand the nuances of bore size, etc. is: which carb should I order and from where?
Any suggestions? Sorry if this is already out there, but I couldn't see any specific carb links or part numbers being recommended for this scoot.

I just got the same scooter 2 weeks ago. Get the 50cc type 1 from Mainelyscooters.com watch for the adds above his is one of them just click on the icon. The switch was a snap just start your a/f mixture screw out 2 1/2 turns out as Greg advised and tune from there. My wife loves her new Tao Tao t3

ihave the same model cy50t3 taotao... mine hit 41 on flat bone stock i added a unifilter and made the a/f mixture richer and it runs a little smoother go to scootertronics.com or scooterworks.com you find them on there i think the runaround 60-70 also dude might as well take a look at your gas lines and you line from the carb to fuel pump... mine had no slack in them and they tore up by the 2000 mile mark do it now instead of later

csmcgurl is right switch out the fuel lines and the vacuum lines, I went with yellow ones so I can see the fuel. There is no fuel pump on your scooter so don't look for one. As far as the carb goes go online and shop. The reason I was stearing towards mainley scooters is b/c shipping is super fast and the carb you need is something like $38.

Wow - thanks for the replies and the links.
For those of you who've swapped out the carb in the CY50-T3, was it worth it? What type of changes did you notice in acceleration or peak speed, if any.
For the suggestion of the unifilter: is it this one (http://www.scootertronics.com/unifilter38mm.html)? what's the benefit?
And thanks for the tips on the hoses.

It's worth it because you can now tune your carburetor, you can't do anything with your stock one. There is no telling what main jet you have in the stock carb. I noticed a pick up in power with the carb. switch. I didn't notice any performance changes when I switched out the coil and cdi. Why not switch carbs when you can buy them anywhere online for under $40. Yes these scoots are high maintenance at times but the parts are the cheapest hobby I've found yet:)

I find the best replacement carbs are the ones with the plastic top. The metal top ones generally aren't constructed as well. Also if you're lucky with the plastic top ones you'll get a 4 position needle. Better for fine tuning than the three position needle ones.
