Sometimes people are wrong...but to launch an all out verbal assault....and insult them...resolves nothing. Demanding that they admit something...only complicates the matter..as human nature has a built in 'preservation of character' mode...and nearly everytime you give in to their bullying and say you were wrong...or misinformed...it merely gives them more fuel for their fire. Therefore their verbal assault gets bigger and more intense...as it feeds their ego and helps show themselves that they are superior...and you are weaker. When in fact it is due to their esteem and which needs to be fed with 'I am right' in order to compensate for what they lack. Said it before and will say it again.... ----> We Chippewa have many proverbs that relate to those who act in such a manner. My favorite being "Sesaunia gina chokata mia dahegeenie....haiha kielee jeekana geya metosona....ga go sha siki ay na lonachhaki...negnai choshaona meegie...shasiimena oya sosa dasena liidohatok...toshakad iiteema muskodayn bishikee kulachimat" Meaning.."Those who place themselves above their fellow tribe members and brothers do such in belief they must be the leader. A tribal leader is necessary and selected not imposed by ones self.Even with a leader, ideas from the tribe are what feeds it's very existence.Criticism, social attacks and destruction of others words only show an inner weakness, not strength or wisdom. Those such need live among the Buffalo, where the aggressive and loudest are leaders"

[chuckle] Not Rolls-Royce - a friend of mine was a Rolls/Bentley tech for 20 years, and says they are in the shop as much as any of them, and in his day, both were hand-made with British pride and industrial superiority, which usually meant that the doors may fall off at any time. On the scooter question, my inexpensive Sunny is an around-town machine only, and does a fine job after my own going-over of it. To ride from here to Johnson City, TN and back however, about 360 miles one way, I will stay with the Silver Wing - check the fluids, inspect the tires, strap on the luggage, swing up on the freeway, and go at 70 mph. While there are some Taiwan scoots I would trust to that, I don't know of any mainland China scoots that I would. Just sayin'...

(besides when you're filthy rich you'd just pay someone to run alongside HOLDING the door.) Secondly, if I'm going to pay big money to look down on Vespa/Honda/Kymco etc. They'ed better have a mechanic following me in a mobile repair shop/Starbucks! LOL!

I don't think you guys understand the China/Taiwan situation right now.
Taiwan doesn't want to be part of China, they want their independence but China won't let go of Taiwan.
The thing that sucks is the UN, which the USA is part of won't recognize Taiwan as an independent country even though they have the ability to be one. This is because most of the world doesn't want to piss off China because they HOLD a lot of world debt, including ours which is estimated to be around $13 trillion dollars but nobody knows for sure and the military threat that China poses.
Since China holds so much of our debt here in the US, it'll be devastating to our economy if the Chinese were to call in their debts. The US is absolutely not able to pay them back and this would sort of bankrupt our country except its not really a bankruptcy. The US is just going to print up more money to pay China as Ben Bernake (the head of the Federal Reserve) has said. Every time the Fed prints up more money without anything to back it up, the value of the dollars in OUR pockets goes down. That means that a loaf of bread that use to cost $2 dollars is now $4 dollars. The price of the bread didn't go up, the purchasing power of our money went down.
The other threat as I mentioned is the military threat that China poses and China is not afraid to use it. Recently, China sent Battleships to the African coast where a lot of pirates are hijacking shipping boats. This was the first time in history that any country had sent their military to protect their shipping routes. Also, Iran has threatened to choke off the Hormuz straight, a vital passage for oil tankers in the middle east, because of the sanctions imposed on Iran. Facing military actions against Iran, China came out and told the world that they will use their military force if any country does anything to Iran. China is NOT afraid to use their military.
So back to Taiwan. The Wiki article says this:
"The political environment is complicated by the potential for military conflict should overt actions toward independence or reunification be taken. It is the official PRC policy to use force to ensure reunification if peaceful reunification is no longer possible, as stated in its anti-secession law, and for this reason there are substantial military installations on the Fujian coast.[94][95] Although more recently the PRC has conducted to promote peaceful relation with the current ROC government and aimed at gradual reunification.
The PRC supports a version of the One-China policy, which states that Taiwan and mainland China are both part of China, and that the PRC is the only legitimate government of China. It uses this policy to prevent the international recognition of the ROC as an independent sovereign state. For its part, the People's Republic of China appears to find the retention of the name "Republic of China" more acceptable than an official declaration of an independent Taiwan. With the rise of the Taiwanese independence movement, the name "Taiwan" has been employed increasingly often on the island"
So China will use military force against the Taiwanese if they keep shouting for their independence. The rest of the world is going to stay out of this because China is an Economic AND Military powerhouse so this leave Taiwan @ssed out!

Wikipedia, the world's finest source for information!
I just put my "edit" into Wikipedia. Now Taiwan is owned by Mainely Scooters! and Greg is the King!
"In related events Taiwan has just declared that all ownership of all lands is hereby transferred to Mainely Scooters. The population has banded together and declared Greg to be the King and inherit all classical rights and privileges."
It will take about 10 seconds before the page admin changes it back to whatever he feels is "correct history".

Hmmm... A mobile repair shop with an on-board Starbucks - that could work! ;D My Silver Wing, though, has just under 30k, has been to 4 states on trips, and has just had maintenance - tires, belts, front brake pads, and 1 battery. The only breakdown-on-the-road was a dead battery, which was my own doing (I left the CB on overnight at a hotel). We jumped it off using my brother's Valkyrie, and problem solved. Before that, I traveled on the Elite 250 with NO troubles. It is almost at 40k now. The Sunny, OTOH, in its first 2k miles, had a battery, tires, a half-dozen light bulbs, a fuel pump, an ignition switch, and I just replaced the front wheel bearings at 3800 miles - the right front started sounding like a rolling bucket of rocks, and the inner bearing looked like one. My friend the Rolls/Bentley guy made the reference to the doors falling off - during his big Brit-car career days, he bought a low-mileage grey-market Jensen Interceptor from the mother country. It was cool-looking, but leaked wind and rain like a sieve, had epic electrical problems, and one rainy day he made a hurry-up left turn, and the driver's door did actually fall off. The Jensen's Renault steering rack wore out,and he ordered a new one from Jensen, and received a Fiat unit; apparently, Jensen would just buy chassis parts wherever they could get them at the time. In the scooter clubs around here, many riders do rides to rallies in adjoining states, and I know of ONE mainland China scoot to do a successful trip; a lady in the Memphis Kings rode her Rocketa to Nashville and back for the Mud, The Blood, And The Beer rally with zero troubles, but they had a bunch of 125s in the group, and were traveling at 45-50mph. Japanese, Taiwanese, Indian, and Italian scoots do these trips routinely. Personal experience, just sayin'...

Although Wikipedia isn't 100% accurate at times, it tries it's best and it never makes any pretenses that it is the be all and end all for knowledge. If anything, Wikipedia gives you a great foundation for whatever it is you're researching. Also, it's constantly asking the community for help. The Encyclopedia Britannica was never 100% accurate and neither were our High School AND College textbooks. At least Wiki is free. When you do stuff like that, it takes time away from the administrators to do their real job. It looks like you own your own shop. What if as a joke your buddy had hacked your website and it read "Tony's Scooter Website, everything 80% off today!" Your buddy might laugh but you wouldn't.

Maybe the context of your comment wasn't understood since we have to read typewritten words but then you created this thread attacking people for buying $5000 dollar scooters. C'mon dude, you're better than that. And I don't feel I'm the only one thinking, "What's wrong with carasdad lately?" And again, I say this without any disrespect at all.

howdy, i've been away for a time and this post is first read and interesting. but, back to the subject, i buy the more expensive and by consensus more reliable machines because i hurt when i have to make any repairs. even checking the air in the tires hurts though that has to be done with any machine. in short, i bet that i will hurt less often on the more expensive machines and will have more pleasant riding experience without the machine quitting somewhere in the boonies when i can only walk a mile or so to get help. it's a reason but not for everyone. i don't disrespect anyone for their decision nor disrespect any person on this forum, though some are more quick to throw rocks.

I bought the Aprilia Sport City 250 because it was on a factory special for only a few hundred dollars more than one of the better quality Chinese scoots, required 1/12 the maintenance, has 20% more horsepower than most Chinese 250's, has a 4 year parts and labor warranty available (standard is 1 year parts and labor), got better fuel economy, is more reliable, is fuel injected, has 15 inch wheels (takes same front tire as a Burgman), has a 463.6 lb rider/passenger capacity and has multiple factory authorized dealers/service centers in the local area.
It was a no brainer. Today the bike is still available for $2,999 from a local servicing dealer while the local dealers for the Chinese bikes want $2,500 to $2,800 for their 250cc carbuerated bikes that do not come anywhere close to matching the maintenance schedule or specs of the fuel injected Aprilia.
I really tried to make my Znen bike pan out but there is just no comparison between how easy it has been for me to maintain the Aprilia and the constant chore it was to keep the Znen running for the daily ride to work.
