I recently started having problems with my 150cc GY6 scooter starting, i narrowed it down to an electrical problem, then realized the side stand kill switch was loose, i tried tightening it, and then noticed that the housing was cracked so i decided to remove it and bypass this feature. I disconnected the switch at the plastic connector and jammed a piece of wire into the remaining half of the three wire connector to complete the circuit (two green wires), and then jammed another wire into the slot for the black wire, (ground?) and it started right up 10 times in a row, but when i went to connect this in a more permanent way, the bike would not start. depending on where i had the ground connected the scoot would either turn over and not start, or do nothing at all. has anyone else experienced this problem/ know a good place to ground this out, or am i just getting my wires mixed up?

On my last scoot it had a two wire version, one black one green. Connecting the two was to disable everything and opening them was to start. Don't know if that will help ya tho

I think i might just need to try all possible ways to connect this again, or find a better place to ground this out. Once i get it sorted out, i'll post pics and the final solution. last night when i was getting somewhere on this the wife came out to the garage and made me stop. ehhh

SO i figured it out. Sorry there are not pics but i will try to describe it as best as possible... On the side stand there is a big screw that holds on the kill switch. THere are three wires going into this, if you trace it back to the closest three wire connector, there is a black wire with a white stripe as well as a green wire and a green wire with a white stripe, if you connect the green wires together and tape off the black one so it doesn't short out your scooter will start again. Apparently when i was testing out what would work, i did not have a solid ground which allowed it to start, but when securing everything in a way that would hold up to the beating of my driving, it would turn over but not start. if you can make this happen you are grounding it out and stopping the engine from starting, good luck dawgs, zen is the art of motorcycle maintenance

Green is ground. Black with white tracer is your kill switch wire. It runs to your CDI and when it hits a ground ( the green wire) it will ground the ignition power from the CDI preventing the pulsed charge, that goes to your coil from the CDI capacitor, from being formed. The other green wire with the tracer is going to go to your brake switches and complete the electrical safety loop that requires you depress a brake leaver to start the engine.
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier and I'm glad you figured it out. Thought I'd let you know what exactly you accomplished.
