Hi All,
I really have a bad luck with my 2 month old TaoTao. With only 1500 km mileage, the scooter is leaking gas when I tried to start it. The symptom is that the engine cranked but won't start.. then a few seconds, I saw the gas coming out of the bottom of the engine.
What do you think the cause of the problem?
I did some research online. They said that it could be the screw is lost n the carburetor drain hose. I am fairly handy, but how do I open up the scooter and reach the carburetor and check it?
Thanks for any advise!

There is a drain hose that runs from the bottom of the carb to a bracket which mounts to the front part of the CVT cover. There is a drain valve at the end of the hose that probably loosened up and can be tightened up with a screwdriver. I experienced that same problem with a Tao Tao CY50 a few weeks ago.

Agreed, check the drain screw first.
If that is not the source of the leaking, it could be a pinched/ damaged fuel line. I would remove the seat to gain access to the fuel line and inspect it for damage.

There are two types of drains. One has a tube that dangles loosely and has a screw on the carb bowl itself and the second type is as described above. Type 1: Drain screw on the carb itself Type 2: Drain screw on the end of tube attached to belt cover.

Thanks for all your answers and your answers are right on the target.
The fix to this problem turns out to be very easy. The guy who sold me the scooter stopped by and tightened up the carb drain screw. Apparently it is very common problem for TaoTao CY-50.
The drain screw is attached to the carb like the photo shown.
Thanks again for your wonderful support.

It's common for any Chinese brand. One day when you have some time go through your whole scooter and tighten every bolt and screw you can. Anyway, glad you got it sorted out.
