would it be possible to replace my 50cc gy6 engine with a 150cc short case gy6 engine?

Possible but not a bolt on, like flu said you would have to fabricate a motor mount, then you would have to possibly work out a wiring change if it uses a different regulator. You would also need the swing arm for the motor you are putting in there, the 50cc one might not fit. You might have a problem with the spring/shock(s) lining up right, if you got a long case 150 you probably would need a different exhaust system. It just is not a job for somebody that is not into working on the scooter.

The 80cc is a direct drop in as it uses the same case as the 50cc.

I'd recommend either upgrading to an 80cc or just purchase a new scooter that's 150cc out of the box. Those would be the best options in my opinion.

ok thanks all. i went to that web site and bought the 80 cc engine. it should be an easy replacement right?

Yes and no.
It will bolt up but you will need to change a few things like the brake cable and the stator wiring as it uses a different stator than the one you have. You will have to rewire the connector. Other than that it should work fine.
