So i got my ncy 15/38 set final gears thinking these were the two gears you had to get pressed together finding that the smaller 15t was the front and the 38t was the rear gear is this right? If so do i need a new oem 42t gear for the front to press the 15t to or can I separate the13/42 oem set and reuse it for for my new 15t one .I've looked for just the oem 42t gear by itself but it only comes in a set 13/42..Would love to get these gears installed anybody got some tips love to hear from you.

Always install gears as a set. Dont mix and match they will not mesh correctly and you will be working on the scoot again.

Those two gears do not get pressed together! The smaller one gets pressed into another gear. I tried looking for a picture of the transmission setup so i can show you but i cant find one. If you want take a pic of yours and i will show you where the little one gets pressed into. Never mix and match gears. Use exactly what comes in the box. you will cause damage

What you do is take the Small Gear off the OEM SHAFT and Press that SMALL GEAR onto the 15T SHAFT and your ready to rock and roll. Wile

so what your saying it's just as easy as swapping the 13t smaller gear in the pic. with the new 15t gear onto the oem gear.

Nuggzy, Yes, What you want is the NEW SHAFT (NOT THE GEAR THAT IS ON THERE), The Shaft is the one that has the 15Teeth not the gear. You want the ORGINAL GEAR on your OLD SHAFT. Wile

Sorry to go off-topic, but what is the purpose of swapping the gears? Why would one do that?

Taller gears will lower your RPM's at any given speed and provide higher top end speed, provided your engine has the power to push it.

So I finally took my gears down to the local garage/muffler shop and had them pop the smaller 13t gear out and press on the new 15t gear took about ten min. and eight dollars good deal.installed them today I didn't get to ride it yet gotta go to work but my wife took it for a spin and said it was hell alot faster and didn't seem to lose any low end ,she said it got up to 50 in a hurry she was to scared to go any faster. I let you now how it is after i get to test it ..I'm GETTING CHILLS JUST THINKING ABOUT IT.. ;D So i went from 13/42 to 15/38 gears I bought a extra 13/42 gear set just so i would all ways have the stock set up just in case and i didn't have any down time when waiting for my new set..

Hi Nuggzy...you've peaked my interest. Out of curiosity, what is the lead up to a gear upgrade move like that? What size BBK is needed or recommended...etc. What would someone need to do to prepare or upgrade the rest of the scooter to, in order to make it all work? It's quite a bit above my head to figure out, but I am interested in knowing, if you would care to share. Thanks

h3nry looking for a counter shaft gear go to( www.mbe-motorsports.com/catalog/) they got them for$ 14.50 cheapest i found but it only comes already pressed to the 13t gear so you have to get it popped out i couldn't find the 42t gear by itself anywhere ,seems they only come pre pressed, maybe if you called them you might be able to just get the 42t gear not sure .So i finally took my scoot out today for the first time after install of the 15/38 gears and it is great ,feels like it found some of that hidden power in my Lil gy6 .great acel. all they way up my top end topped out today at 70mph of course that's the reading from my chinko meter so give or take some prob. more take than give ..But I've got 9gram sliders in still from before so I'm going back to the 11gram sliders to try and get a Lil more top end out of her i still got a Lil less than a 1/4 inch left on the top of my variator un touched ..I don't really ride it that fast anyways but it nice to know i got the power if i want it..
