Hello,
I'm new here but I have been lurking around for awhile reading posts from time to time. I need some help myself on this one.
I have a motofino QT50-2 crankshaft with a nicely rounded off area where the drive face teeth are supposed to go. what are my options here? I don't really feel like tearing into the engine and replacing the crank (imagine it is a pain?) The other choice i'm looking at is a complete motor replacement. This scoot also needs a new carb so this bald crank is not the only issue. It looks like the drive face had been welded to the kickstart nut, and that's how the previous owner had it working.
Anyone know of a decent repair you can do to the crank that is there now?

Well I have been debating on whether I should sink 300 bucks into a new engine for a 2007 used scoot.... or cut my losses and just sell it for parts bike for about $250.
Looks like the previous owner had the drive face spocket welded to the back of the kickstart nut. I wonder if this is a cheap and dirty fix that might work for awhile. I looked into buying a new crank and they run in the $50 dollar range not to mention the time involved. I'm gonna run these 2 parts up to the local welding shop and see what they think could be done to weld it back together. It aint rocket science, just a pita!
