ok folks...a good one for you! I recently purchased a reverse trike from Scooterdepot.us MC_D150TKB 150cc Reverse Trike QMJ157 Engine Very closely resembles a Jonway YYQ150T-2 two wheeled scooter I am having an issue with the gas gauge. It worked the first day...and not it is stuck on "E" The needle doesn't even move when the ignition is turned to the on position. Almost like it is stuck. Is this possible? Thinking it was the sending unit..I had scooterdepot.us send me a new sending unit. I did not replace the unit from the tank. I disconnected the a coupler under the seat and connected the new one. Nothing happened,. No movement. Could it be a ground issue? Does the sending unit need to be installed in order to work? So, here is my thinking....if it requires a new gas gauge...you can't just get the gas gauge...you need to replace the entire instrument cluster. With that begin the case...can I purchase one in MPH and not KM/h? They have this one on this page: www.replacementscooterparts.com/Moped_Web/Moped_Jonway150cc_150T_2_Electric.htmWill this moped gauge work, out of the box with me scooter? Also, all I see on the cluster that is different, other than being in Mph...is it does not have the VERTICAL LOCK light. In other words...the light that blinks when you start the trike with the vertical lock engaged. So....what can you guys tell me about the gauge conversion?..and the possibility of the needle being stuck?!?!?!? Thanks Steve

I was just messing with my gas gauge this evening. Have you by chance had the needle off? I took my needle off (it actually fell off) while cleaning my new project's gauge plastic. When I put it back on, it was pegged above full the whole time and wouldn't move. I took the sending unit out, moved the float back and forth with my hand and the gauge didn't move. So I pulled the needle and pointed it halfway b/t F and E and then moved the float back and forth. I messed with it until I calibrated it to empty (the float as low as it would go) and full (the float as high as it would go). Hope this helps. It won't hurt anything to take the gauge cluster plastic off and mess with the needles. Just be careful and work slowly.

Also, the head light on the driver side is very dim...even at high revs....is this the way it should be or could the bulb be defective? Could it be that the bike is not grounded correctly?
What is the best way to ground the bike?

I've got a DF150TKA and the gas gauge has always been a little quirky. If it's empty and I fill up, it shows empty for awhile..... then suddenly it pops up and reads correctly. Seems to follow pretty well as the tank empties. I always figured the sensor gets stuck down and eventually vibrates loose. I haven't checked it myself, but I understand there's an arm on the sensor that can be bent to read more correctly in certain instances. I think Greg at Mainely Scooters is the one who offered that information at one time or another.

thank you mnfitz. I already removed the sending unit from the tank and played around with the float. The needle still does not move. I am thinking it is the gauge ??
