This is not a full tutorial, but I will explain to you what I did. Items needed1) Cigarette Lighter from walmart ($9) Heres the link www.walmart.com/ip/Casco-All-Weather-Power-Outlet/171657772) In-line fuse from walmart ($2.50) 3) 15 Amp fuse from walmrt ($2.00) 4) Extra Wire (not much thinner than 16 gauge) 5) www.walmart.com/ip/3M-Assorted-Connects/17061847 I bought that kit. Tools1) Wire Cutters/ Stripper 2) Soldering Iron and Solder 3) Electrical Tape 4) Tools will be needed as you go further into the process Steps to installing1) Solder extra wire (about 12-16inches) to both the positive and negative lead of the power outlet 2) Solder the in-line fuse the the positive leader after the extra wire. 3) Clamp connectors onto the ends of both the positive and negative leads ( to connect to battery) 4) Find a place for the power outlet, do not drill or screw and thing into the plastic I did not do any of that. 5) Find a place for the outlet run the wires to the battery then connect the positive and negative wire connectors to the negative and positive side of the battery. After this put the 15 amp fuse into the in-line fuse. Finishing Diagram Note if nothing is in the power outlet it does not use power from the battery. Mine looks like this, I would have made a better tutorial but I didn't think of making one until I already was completed with the project. Finished project photo Photo was taken incomplete darkness so quality isn't that good, I chose the trunk so if I leave my cell phone in my moped I don't have to worry as much about it getting stolen.

A marine or boat type with cover would be better since your exposed to the weather

Oh cool you did your homework first . How about a switch to be able to turn it off when not in use ? Does it put out enough to charge your phone ? If you had enough power it would be great for a 12V mini compressor or impact driver . You can charge your battery through the port providing your charger has the adapter for it

All you would have to do is wire the male end to the end of a trickle charger and plug it in.

I used the same outlet but in the glove box and used wiretaps right into the harness red and green wires; the circuit is already fused at the battery.

I picked mine up at the nearest boat accessories store. Everything is plastic outside of the contacts. Very handy to have when your out riding... I mounted mine in the front panel and utilize a griffin usb plug. it stays in tight and removes rather easily to be stored in the glove box upfront. Attachments:

Yes indeed and that prompted me to have my Dealer to install two 12v power points on either side of the front panel and I shall be inserting on one power port with this I already have in the car by getting another, it has two usb plus an extended 12v port too.
