I'm trying to find some info on a 2008 shanghai shenke 50cc for a buddy of mine. Are there any performance parts for this thing? Maybe jets, exhaust or BB kit. HE is a little guy, maybe 120lbs, and says he can get it up to 45mph on lvl ground. But it takes a long time to get there. The scooter only has 3k on it and looks to be in good shape. Anyways he wants it to get up to speed quicker and some more top speed. Is any of the even possible? Before anyone says get a bigger scooter. He has no license and this was given to him as he only had a bicycle. I would greatly appreciate any advice or help, thanks

It has a standard 139QMB engine generally, so yeah, there are tons of aftermarket parts available.

Shanghai Schenke Motorcycle Company LTD.
is a subsidiary of Jonway, China.
they are the better made of all Jonways. seems like this plant had quality control, when most companies, either Jonway or other Chinese companies didnt care their 2008's go, go fast, go for ever
i wouldnt mess with it. keep it stock, replace with OEM parts do ALL Preventive Maintenance, on time change oil more than average.
the lil Fer will run forever.
your buddy does 45 on lvl ground, have throttle left ? i'm betting so most stock 50cc. wont do that all day every day
your buddy has a rare machine

Thanks for all the info, i am actually shocked in the amount of performance parts available. He wants it to be able to burn rubber, his words. I honestly don't think think its possible seeing as it only has about 3hp. What and where would you guys recommend him to start to wake it up. I do agree with silentwarrior about keeping it stock but i know he wont listen and i would rather guide him on what to do then have him hack it up or blow it up. As for his speed claims, that's exactly what i think they are. He lives up in Indiana and I'm down in Florida. He called me and he talked my ear off about his bike and how to make it faster. I work on harleys so i have an idea where to start but not sure what works best and the best place to buy.

There is al kinds of stuff called "performance" generally you are better off saving you buck for a 250. IN the US, it take a EFI/water cooled 150 to keep up with traffic almost anywhere/

Variator, check the air/fuel, if lean, up jet the carburetor, CDI if his is restricted.. NGK CR7-HIX.. You can pick the plug up at almost any parts store, most have it instock. If not they can get it over night..

Is this a good step by step for the variator? www.provoscooter.com/variator-deregulation I assume its lean. How would i be able to tell if the cdi is restricted? And i think he changed the plug to an ngk. Parts don't seem to very expensive which is always a good thing. Would the vendors on here have what he needs? What im trying to do it get together a parts list and info together then e-mail him everything.

Yes.. Seams pretty accurate.. But not all scooters have the same bolt pattern on the cvt case, and Not all of the outside washers and stuff are the same on all models.. But yes its fairly accurate.. It will be the washer between the outside pulley half, and the spacer on the axle in front of the variator itself... Good luck and have fun.. Don't stress out over it.. Also I couldn't remove mine with channel locks, had to have an impact with 17mm socket.. Its ALOT easier..

There are tons of cheap performance parts for a 50cc. Its a blast to work on and fix up. I bought many of my parts from Scrappydogscooters.com and Partsforscooters.com.
dont be tempted to buy a Uni air filter. The stock air box works best is all situations.

I have a Shenke 150cc with the GY6 engine and I can tell you that your friend either failed to do his research, rushed into the deal, tried to take the easy way out, or some sort of a combination.
Fact is by the time your friend is done paying for the upgrades he could have got the 150 because when it comes to scooters you will hear this time and again: if you want more power, get a bigger engine.
There's nothing else to it, you need 6 horses to reach 60 mph, 10 or 12 to hit 70, the curve steepens up sharply due to wind resistance, almost seems like every 10mph past 50 you need double the horses.
Granted a 150cc requires a motorcycle endorsement (and insurance and registration) but he can probably get 5, 10 percent more power and maybe he can get 50mph out of it but if he's driving it without a license then at some point the law is going to have something to say about it as well, he's only going to be able to do so much for under $100 and really, what's the point?
Take it from someone who decided to get the 150 in the first place, I really could almost have went 250.

shanghai shenke....is the same as Jonway and Sunny brand scoots...all parts for a QMB139 will fit and work....we own 4 of them....gf is totally tricked out....80cc BBK...6 gram slider weights.....Uni air filter...performance variator(has steeper ramps than stock) and performance exhaust...it will hit 50 mph with her riding it...GPS verified.I won't tell you her weight...she'd kill me...but she is a bigger lady....I weigh 142 lbs...and according to gps..on a run of about 1/4 mile I am up to 54 mph....only prob is....it is revving about 8,600 rpm...which is over the redline..so we take it easy and cruise about 45..which puts rpm's at 7,500.... shanghai shenke....makes a good product..and now that I think about it....I believe they also make Roketa as well as Jonway and Sunny scooters....

I just got a 150cc Shanghai shenke scooter from Mxmotorsports. They called it a Roketa MC-75 150cc. But when I got it in a few days ago on the side it says YY-150T-12 I guess the 12 is for 2012? Maybe it means a model from the factory. It was manufactured in March 2012. Because it has 13 inch wheels. Rode it so far 9 miles in my backyard til I get my license. I read the PDI post and I believe that the fuel and vacuum lines are good some are too long like after the fuel filter. But anyway, it started right up after filling up with gas and I waited a half hour after I filled the electrolyte in the battery. 12.8 volts then. But a few nuts and screws needed a little tightening and can't say anything bad about the scooter. Other than I need to get all the plastic off of it where it gets hot because it steams outside the exhaust pipe. Going to change the factory engine oil and gear oil soon.
