I am sure this question is answered in a thread somewhere, but I did not see it. I just bought a new Tao Tao scoot (6b secret 63) and want to change out the shipping oils. Not sure of the gear oil capacity, can someone help me out?
I am going to change both oils and put in an NGK plug...is there any other recommendations before I start cruising?
Thanks,
SilverBetty

Thanks, SilverBetty Hi Betty Welcome aboard Pleased to meet you To refill the transmission, just squirt oil into the fill hole until it runs back out. Heres a link to a PDI (Post Delivery Inspection & Set Up) I would recommend you follow the instructions found there x1scooters.com/pdi.htmlIf you do your scoot will be off to a great start Heres an invaluable manual that will get you familiar with your scoots parts repairs and routine maintenance www.chinesescooterreference.com/pdf/50_150cc_gy6_shop_manual.pdf Lastly heres a driving tips guide for those new to scoots www.motor-scooters-guide.com/support-files/scooter-driving-tips.pdf Take care and drive safely Yours Hank

I have the same scoot as you and can tell you that you made a good decison, I havent had one problem with mine as of yet and I have 200+ miles on it. Change the gear oil/motor oil, adjust the valve and idle screw and everything else the pdi tells you to do. One thing im doing tomm is replacing all gaskets, this isnt in the pdi but i would highly reccomend it considering when i adjusted my valve i had oil pouring out from a faulty gasket.

Oh and as a side note considering how cheap everything is to use it the oil i used was thhe castrol gtx 10/40 and for gear oil i used valvoline dura-blend 80/90

Gear oil takes 2 big squirts from the gear oil bottle. Fill until it comes back out the hole. That's all there is to it.
Oh, just noticed Inuyasha already answered the question.
