I see it so often people that can't and comprehend what they read. There is no "recurring belt shredding". Was reading required at the scooter shop?? Well damn then. Sorry I tried to throw out a possible problem that you might have overlooked. A$$HOLE. I hope you never get it sorted out. $hithead.

I was angry with Monstergy6, but I just let it go and don't do business there anymore. I just avoid Gates belts now as well. The cheap 10 dollar belts seem to get the job done for 5000 miles at a time, then save it for a spare LOL! I guess their quality isn't as bad as I read online.
Its interesting that people call Chinese scooters junk, yet I ride mine 60 miles a day year round and so far I've put 14,000 almost trouble free miles, a few minor annoyances. Alot less hassle than the POS transmission eating ford focus I got rid of earlier this year.

Update Ok now have 40 miles on the re-install of the old belt and it is running like a rocket. So that issue is completely resolved.
Steve from Monster GY6 got a hold of me first thing this morning and has sent a new belt out for a replacement and offered a refund if I don't like the replacement. So GREAT JOB MONSTER GY6!!!
Thank God everything seems to be going better.

Some good news then Might I suggest that you measure the length of the new one before you install it? The 825 that was mentioned was the length of the belts I had posted about that were marked as 842, and as was mentioned, they may well be too short and as such have too much pressure on them. Mine certainly looked low in the clutch. I bet your problem with breaking belts is a bad clutch bearing. I see it so often, that now I take the clutch off and inspect the bearings on every belt change I do (which is a lot because I work(ed) at a scooter shop). 99% of the time I saw recurring belt breakages, it was because of a bad bearing. That is how my problems started, the grease on the torque sleeve was like black treacle. Once it was cleaned out and re-greased the problem was solved, but , the problem with the gates belts persisted after the clutch was fixed. I would whole heartedly suggest that everyone strips, cleans and re-greases their clutch bearings and torque sleeve at least once if only to know that you have good grease in there. I hope this is O.K.? here's a link to the other forum where I first posted about my problem scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=150cc&thread=2422&page=1Might be of interest

Cool scooterkb. I did check the belt for size before I installed it. I always do with any belt just to be sure, it can save you a headache later. Good advice though.

I think you guys are missing something the belt on the scooter was a 835 and I put a 842 on it. No one said anything about a 825 belt, can you even buy one of those?? It's not a smaller belt but a ever so slightly larger belt both sizes are acceptable. What thread are you reading? The old belt was not shredded it was in excellent condition. After the new belt was installed the belt lasted 11 miles. The old belt was reinstalled and it works fine. Scooterkb clearly shows 2 differently marked belts one lasts 1000's of miles the other one almost immediately shreds. The only thing that changes is the belt otherwise its the same scooter. Nothing is bent or broken it is a new well maintained scooter on my part. Do you work for Monster GY6 cause that's the same ignoring the facts garbage I got from them. I see it so often people that can't and comprehend what they read. There is no "recurring belt shredding". Was reading required at the scooter shop?? FYI most math on planet earth shows that 842-835=7 not 10. In this case it means 7mm larger or less than the width of your pinky. Someday I will visit you in your alternate universe where everything is mystical and changing. There are pictures of both belts above clearly marked with the respective numbers. Sorry just ticked that so many people have such a hard time with understanding when I try so hard to type clear English. The whole belt mess has me hurting from pushing the bike and I am grumpy. It does seem like this pretty straight forward though as most people are understanding. Also just not happy with scooter parts people this is the second bad experience in the last couple of weeks and it just irks me to do so much careful shopping and end up with poor service in the end. It seems to me that refunding $20 so that I don't make you look bad on every possible place I can and report you to the authorities would be a no brainer but this clown wants to wait to speak to his distributor. EDIT Wanted to make sure everyone saw that he did take care of this issue quickly and correctly. Monster GY6 is a safe place for parts in my opinion. yes, excuse you. you mentioned a possible fake and someone else had same belt with pics ( that you verified looked exactly as yours) marked as 842 but measured at 825. now do the math ASS! read your own damn thread and maybe you will understand what people are saying. all thoughts or opinions may not be right but are all valid. if you don't want help go somewhere else.

oh and @ dyoung1167 you are right I missed the 825 on his belt measurement. I was wrong, not hard to do when your cranky and frustrated. So another apology and this time I mean it. BTW nearing 150 on my old belt back on. I should get the replacement tomorrow not sure if I want to put it on...
