Is the Moskito standard enough to be able to support it through the online parts vendors? Or unique enough to leave alone and not get one at all? What about it's oil injection parts, electrical/stator parts, etc.. ?

No it is not A STANDARD ENOUGH SCOOT, do not buy one if that is what your getting at. Googled and I got this hit: MZ MOTORAD HAS NO LONGER A PRESENCE IN THE US. Lefty

Yep - I'd say. Blunt works for me - I've had what MY brains said was subtle in the past, and screwed myself over. So, thanks for the bluntness, and saving me from possible future nightmares/cussing/moaning! Any recommendation on brands? I'd like to get something a couple years old, say, like on Craigslist, and do a 90-100cc 2-Stroke build-up. Seems there's tons of brands, but looks are repeating, ie, TaoTao 50cc, Sunny WY-50, etc.. Thanks - have continued googling/searching, although the proboards search "feature" leaves a heckuva lot to be desired

TaoTaos, many have them and swear by them that they are pretty good little scoots. They say they are pretty fast stock for a 50 and can be modified to go faster if you want. Lefty

Get the Moskito It is the standard horizatnol mineralli motor on it that is on pretty much every 2 stroke out there. If you want the opion of someone that owns one talk to 2stroke on 49ccscoot.com. His is highly modified now but was still great in stock form. The Tao Tao is alright but is a 4 stroke and a smaller scoot. Yes the parts are readilly avaible for the Moskito stock parts as well as aftermarket parts it depends on if you want to leave it as it is or get really wild with it.

I wanna get wild - 90-100cc (I'm 5"10" 235lbs, so I'll need a bit more oomph.) speaking of which, is this a small-frame, or larger-frame? Seeing as I am "larger-framed". Wanna get something that I can use, and I have a FL motorcycle endorsement, but that also my kids can use, who DON'T have the MC endorsement. in FL, that means 50cc and under. I've seen a few Sx and RX units for under $500 here in FL. Also was thinking of a Baccio - found a Runner 49cc for $150 including a semi-complete 2nd unit for parts - seller SAYS it "ran yesterday but won't start now" which I assume if you guys had a dime for every time you heard that, you'd be retired But, I'm guessing $150 isn't too much to invest, depending on condition, mileage, and year. I'm new to scoots, but not bikes and 2-strokes. in High School I rode an 84 RZ350, and before that my dad had a Daytona Special, which is what caused me to fall in love with 2-strokes. In the late 90's/early 2000's I had an '85 RZ500 for a couple of years, until times got tough, and I had to let it go. For me, that's pretty much the Holy Grail of 2T, and i have every intention of getting another one in the future! Anyways, advice is welcome - ya know my size, and that I want a 49cc 2T scoot

They are few but lead the unwary down a rough road.

Well, that skito was pointless - 2002, 8100 miles, non-running, although he wanted $300 "obo"
Gonna take a look tomorrow at the Baccio Runner 50 for $150, non-runner. Get him down to $100, get that 90cc engine from scrappydog for $350, figure another $100-200 in "stuff," and I should be good.
Worth it? If building up a 90-100cc 2st?

Me personally I like a 70cc that likes to reach 10 grand and will run over 50. Now the 90cc from scrappy is a good motor if you don't want to build one. Take a look over at 49ccscoot there are several over there that have built everything from some smoking 70's to some 103's that are fast. If you don't plan on keeping the 49cc then it really don't matter if it runs or not as long as everything else is in good shape.

Yea here it is a real barn burner and pricey to boot. Reviews say the plastics are cheap and start to fall apart in the heat. All this stuff is on the internet just passing some of the information on since you asked. They say 2HP but it is less than that 30mph sh!t a damn MOPED with pedals can do that for $1,000.00 less. www.islandscooters.com/sales.htmlLefty

I'd like to start with the 90cc scrappy motor, and use their 54mm cylinder kit to get it up to 100cc, and then a few complimentary things - still snooping thru threads here and on 49ccscoot. waiting for the guy to email back about the baccio - 49cc 2T, non-runner for $150 with the 2nd parts chassis. Hasn't emailed back yet, so we'll see. If it's cosmetically decent, I'll just drag that home, and it's a cheaper starting point, since I'm getting the 90 from scrappy anyway. thanks, and continue giving the advice - I have no aversion to advice from seasoned riders

You can use the carb and pipe from the 49 on the 90 but you will get better performance with a little bigger carb and a better pipe you just have to make sure that they are both a short case or long case so as the fitment is the same. I beleive that the 90 from scrappy is a short case but check with them to be sure.

i'm definitley in agreement with everyone else here for the most part. as a person who has owned and modified a moskito i can tell you that it really isnt worth the money. i had way more fun on my rocketa and after this weekend will be having way more fun on a dinky 50cc sundiro 2 stroke. granted it has a bbk and tighter clutch springs going on it but i bought the sundiro for $141 running and have only order a new top end bbk and the clutch springs on it. i would say i have a total of $250 invested in a running and somewhat strong running scoot. i just have my oppinions on Muz due to the fact that the CPI motor that was on it just didnt have what i needed and american support is nil.( had to call taiwan to get any answers about it). all in all just my $.02
