Hi all...newbie checking in- I have scoured this list looking for other owners of the "Road Warrior" 250cc V-twin air-cooled trike. Of course, I may have missed something, but does anyone on this list own one of these? I am expecting delivery in four days, and am looking for any advice I can get from an owner or shop owner that will help me streamline my PDI. I intend to run it bone stock during the "warranty period" and afterwards go nuts with customizing. Also, can anyone help me in identifying the maker of the V-twin 250cc motor? I'm told it's a copy of a VX250 Yamaha, but I have no proof of that. Mike in Texas Attachments:

I believe someone else has one I cannot remember if it on this forum or ScooterDoc.Forum. But he was disappointed on the lack of power it would only get up to 50mph. Since it is a twin it has two 125cc equivalent type motors on it and it is pretty heavy. Got to say though they are pretty sharp for the price and if you build put in BBKs on both heads you can make it into a 300cc. Then I bet it will cruise in the near 70mph range and if not you can probably put in taller gears in the tranny to be able to cruise 60-65 with some left over. Lefty

Thanks, edfr!
Please excuse the newbie ignorance, but what, exactly, is "BBK"? Also, do you have any clue what engine my v-twin is based upon?
Thanks again.

Also, who would be able to supply me with the correct lower sized gear?

The engine in your bike is made by Lifan and is an exact copy of the Yamaha Virago 250 engine. The Yamaha manual and parts will work just fine.

Forgot something. You don't change gears on this one. Just get a rear sprocket with a couple less teeth and gain a few miles a hour. Don't go too far or you will get out of the power band and the mpg will go bad.

Hey Chapper and Eldoryder, ya'lls bikes manual or auto? I have the manual trans sister, the Snow Leopard, same but without all the chrome and chopper forks. Did you change out, or put in, gear oil? If you did, please tell me how you did it? I've having a problem with the how to on this one. Thanks guys, Harleyann1

Also, I believe most front wheel axles are similar. Mine came WITHOUT the axle nut, lost in shipping, imagine that. The axle sticks past the left fork about 5/8 inch maybe. The nut I found local matches the thread, which is crazy hard to find, is self locking but the axle just doesn't go through enough for me to feel comfortable. Can or should I shorten the spacer on the brake side? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Dealers I have asked in my area, I haven't spoken to them all mind you, just don't seem interested in talking to me. Harleyann1

WOW! THREE rear ends already? Please tell me.....did your problems start with the trike "shuddering" while in gear? It happened to me once in fifth gear when I first got it three months ago. A week ago, I was out running errands, and the trike started "shuddering" about every five minutes, independent of which gear I was in.
Should I be worrying about replacing a rear drive on a trike with less than 200 miles on it???!!!
Any comments or ideas welcome. My selling dealer is next to worthless.

My first one went out at 100 miles then again at 400 and now with just over a thousand and we have had it 6months an its been broke down 4 and all I hear now is "haven't heard anything yet, ill call you when I know something" it really sucks that this is America an we just have to accept this Chinese junk with now way to get your money back even with an obvious defect! I know all the "you get what you pay for and your gonna have to work on it and the shoulda spent more and got a Honda r whatever else" crap! What I've got is close to 5 grand worth of payments for something that wont go 3r 400 miles without spending 2months in the shop getting a gearbox replaced.....ok enough bitching...I would like to know if mine is missing the bearing on the shaft that I was reading about tho an if I should try and convince the dealer I got the trike from to put it in?

The warrior is a different motor and tranmission set up than the IB 150cc with reverse that had the missing bearing.

Well, my Road Warrior Trike has continued it's "shuddering" to the point where it does it every 30 seconds, at any speed, in any gear. I convinced the selling dealer to put in a warranty request for a new rear end. To my amazement, after a weekend at a bike event, I came back to find a replacement gearbox waiting for me.
Now......does ANYONE here know of ANY kind of workshop manual or person who is knowledgeable about changing out the gearbox? It looks complicated, and I am a little intimidated about jumping right in and tearing parts off. My selling dealer is six states away, and would be of no help when it comes to servicing, anyway. He's just selling boxes.
But I really need some guidance here. Am I on the right track? Could it be a CV joint instead? Could it be in the transmission on the bike (if it has one)? Does anyone here remember what symptoms their RWT had before their gearbox was replaced?
Thanks in advance for any info.

Thats the same thing mine did so id say your on the right track.when you do put it in take a heavy spring r two and pull the reverse gear away disconect the cable or after you figure out how to install it you will be good at it in a few hundred miles. I finally got mine back yesterday after 9 weeks..and it doesnt make any noise and I think it might finally last. Good luck

I found yet ANOTHER annoying problem with my Road Warrior now. The TIRES they give you on the back of the 250cc V-twin trike that is supposed to be able to go 60MPH are NOT rated for highway use! They plainly state "NHS" (No Highway Service) right ABOVE the logo "DOT R3", which according to a technician at Firestone Corporate is crap. Any REAL DOT number is several numerals long. So these 235/30-12 "Wood Bell" tires seems to only be useful for golfcarts that don't do over 15MPH!
I have been ALL OVER the web looking for a useful tire, and the next step up is an INNOVA "Driver" which is 215-50-12. However the Corporate tech told me that THIS tire is only DOT rated for 35MPH! So what's left? The 25-8R12 GBC Afterburner Street Force, which is a street racing ATV tire DOT rated for up to 84MPH!
So what's the problem? It has an EIGHT INCH SIDEWALL! How on EARTH am I gonna fit the trike body on top of an 8 inch sidewall? The original tire had an 1-1/2 sidewall!
This sucks.
