can anyone tell me how to adjust the float on the carb of my baron gy6 150cc scooter? I am experiencing fuel starvation after about 1-2 miles and have checked everything else. i have the carbon the table right now. ...

ducati; Welcome to the "DawgPound"! If your float is plastic, the level is not adjustable. If it is metal, I usually hold the float chamber lid upside-down with the float in place. If the float is level/parallel with the chamber top, the adjustment os OK. If off, bend the little tab that pushes on the bottom of the float needle valve until the float is level. There are measurements you can also use but that is the "seat of the pants" method. Why do you want to adjust the float level? Is there a problem? What are the symptoms? Have you checked out Stan Jessup's website? www.thescooterscoop.com/He is a dealer for many GY6 scoot engine parts and has much helpful info on the Chinese scoots.

thanks for reply. symptoms = scoot ran great first 1300km then suddenly now after 1-2 miles it starves for gas and dies. Verified this via dry plug after it dies and won't start. So, new spark plug, new fuel lines, new vacuum lines, rerouted the fuel line to be down hill, new fuel filter and checked the tank vacuum valve for operation. So now I am in the carb and it is, of course, brand new looking but cleaned it anyway. Running out of ideas. .. except maybe an inline fuel pump,, but then why did it run great without it for 1300km?? any help appreciated.

I don't know about your scoot... heck I don't even know this about mine! But some of the chinese 150 scoots have a fuel filter or strainer inside the gas tank. If I recall correctly, they're removable from the bottom of the tank. They screw into it, I think, where the fuel line connects. Just something to check for.... sounds like you're running out of possibilities. Also check for any other vacuum leaks, like in the carburetor mount, that would take vacuum away from the line to the gas flow switch.

ducati; Dennisdh has a good idea! Have you verified that gas will flow from tank with fuel line disconnected? Was the float bowl dry when you removed the carb? Sounds like you have been pretty thorough. Really is curious.

I'm having the same problem with my pagsta. Ran great, now suddenly no fuel being drawn into the carb. Everything is fine up to the carb level so I will try to check the float. Float adjustments are a big pain, since adjustments basically are in mm.

ok so i checked my float level and all is set fine. all passages were checked as well as the flow from the tank to the bowl is AOK. STILL has the same problem. drives for about 1-2 miles then struggles under load and then eventually dies and will not start for another 10-15 minutes. Any other ideas appreciated. Now have come full circle and am beginning once again to think it could be electrical. the MAGNETOS are notorious for crapping out on these new BARON scoots. do you think my symptoms sound like a magneto? i tested the impedence of the mag via the TANK manual and I am just under the 'ok' specs. Perhaps after the bike gets running it goes over the recommended resistance???

It could be a gas cap vent. Remove gas cap when it stops to see if that is it. Otherwise it sounds like an electrical problem.

thanks warstein, checked the vent and all is well there. also adjusted the valves and they were very tight, but after adjustment the problem still persists. ANY THOUGHTS ON AN AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT CARBURETOR FOR THE GY6 150CC?
