This appears to be the same gimmick that I have seen in other markets.
Essentially, it is a large capacitor laid across the battery terminals in an effort to smooth out the voltage to the electrical system. Problem is that if you have a well-functioning battery, it is completely useless; the battery itself acts as a large capacitor.

The scooter runs on AC power so their claims are bogus...

I'd love to see Parts for Scooters chime in on that bombshell.
Sprocket, which claims in particular or is it simply all of them on both sites?

Snake oil... the engines run on AC power...TOTALLY, that is why you can pull the battery and the rectifier/regulator and she still will go like stink!
And as ludeykrus correctly pointed out the battery smooths the waves and gets rid of any residual AC peaks and valleys...
But then again... lights and enrichers don't care what type of power they run on... it can be AC or DC or dirty DC...all the same...
Aftermarket parts are a mine field... claims abound and rarely do they actually have any proof...of anything...
Cap, put your wallet back in your pocket...

I too was curious what this expensive doodad actually does!!!?? When I first seen it i thought, It may keep my headlight from dimming on my 50cc at Idle. The price tag is to high even if it does help IMO Besides I have a battery charger!! Someone needs to E-Mail either company to get an answer as to exactly what this does or how it helps

Well for $99.99 here is what it does Now mind you this connects to your battery(HA) and ELSE is mispelled in the last sentence. I guess they did not check with Partsforscooters before writing that sentence. Lefty This is what they Claim, bet nobody can tell you how it works.
What is happening when you throttle up your machines, the battery output voltage is unstable; it changes between 11V and 15V, the spark energy is inconsistent and your machine lacks power. With the Magic Power Box, the output voltage will be almost 100% stable. Your machine can reach the maximum power.
Increase horse power throughout the entire rpm range
Increase torque Increase throttle response Increase spark energy Improve fuel efficiency Easier start-runs cleaner Less spark plug fouling Brighter headlights Longer battery life Reduce the radio noise
Brand new Scootertronics not offered by anyone esle, designed and engineered in the USA

Does it bake pies too?
The red and black wire from the stator carries AC power to the CDI. The black and yellow wire carries power from the CDI to the ignition coil.
The ignition coil sends the voltage to the spark plug...
That is how the engine runs...no battery... no rectifier/regulator... no DC power... no battery
IT IS BULL

But hey it's a "Magic Power Box" and we love magic ! Buy the snake oil, ask nicely and see if they will toss in a snake or two with you order. I too would like to know what the heck kinda-of advantage it would have. Mabey it has this kinda advantage.. www.wimp.com/turnon/Maybe for a DC scooter? I would like for Matt (PFS) to chime in on this.

I too would love to hear from PFS on this one! This lil doodad with their logo on it is all over the place. Granted PFS doesn't make any grand claims about it but other sites that offer their product do. At any rate, I'm comfortable enough in your responses to know that I won't be making that purchase. So, c'mon PFS, what gives?

Alright, alright guys...
Simply it is just a large capacitor, as was stated above. We don't make any grand claims about it because all of the crazy "magic" doesn't really exist.
It is more based on the systems that are used on high end audio (read: huge ass subwoofers) components to stabilize current during short burst-high draw situations, such as when you are playing a track that has frequent and powerful bass drops.
I guess someone along the way theorized that it would also help out scooters with limited charging systems.
The scooter application of this part is truly limited, granted. We did see some difference (not magic, mind you) on some of the early 2T Chinese applications, as they had very limited charging systems.
Looking at the part now, I can't say that we've changed the description since then either. Anyway we do sell a few here and there so we'll probably continue to carry it, but I would say that we sell it with the caveat that "your mileage may vary". We certainly won't be throwing any marketing behind it anyway.
I don't think I cleared anything up with this, but I don't want anyone to feel misled either.
Larrball - Whatever the box is in the video in that link... I want one for my desk. Awesome.

Thank's Matt that makes perfect sense now. I can see how it might help a scooter with a small output stator. As far as the box, i'd bet you could get something like that at radio shack, or as some kit you put together your self? humm Just kinda a joke and in no way knocking bad at you or PFS.

Like I said in theory. Putting the capacitor closer to the plug or even in the plug is also something that works in theory but.... Even then some drag racers seem to swear by them especially when the supplier is a paying sponser of theirs.

Got to admit at least he was man enough to come and tell it like it is, That it really does almost nothing for a scoot but if your playing a HOT GUITAR then maybe. Lefty In a non-cdi ignition it may be another story but then again when they start to fail... I did some 40 years ago try an aftemarket CDI system to augment my 63 Olds Holiday Coupe and it did improve things until it burned out the ignition points, cap and rotor. Two runs and they looked like they had been used for years even though they were the best available at the time. I returned the CDI unit. I prefer straight accoustic and play a 35 year old Fender F35 with a BridgeDoctor sound post in it.

Time flies its a 1972 Fender F35 making it 39 years ago that I picked it up, serial number is 8. Wouldn't trade it for a Martin. It only uses electricity if I turn on the lights when I play it or stand in front of a microphone. To bad it is not that scooterable. Guess that is what my harmonica is for.
