Hey guys whenever into to start my scooter it makes this whizzing sound when I hold the starter button down, when I release the button it make a locking into place sound and then it will catch and crank. Does this have something to do with the starter clutch? Do I need a new one? If so how do I replace it. Also since my bbk my starter seems to have a hard time cranking over. Ive replaced the stock battery with a lawnmower battery and replaced all grounds. Still slow cranking, so slow that it won't start. ( after like 10 mins I finally get it to start ) I've also tried hooking the starter up by itself to a car battery and it shows the same problem. Do you think a new starter would fix this? Thanks

Sure sounds like your starter is shot, Get a new one it should spin pretty good when you connected to the battery. It appears that the Starter bendix is not moving out and making contact with the gear to turn the motor over.
I would get a new starter and go form there. Also a BBK will make it a little harder to turn over more compression and if new tighter. Lefty

Alright, so a new starter then.
How much longer till the rings and everything will break in and loosen up? I've got about 200 miles already since I installed it.
Can't kick it because of my messed up ankle, hurts too much, so electric start is really my only option.

The rings should already be set, they usually set in the first 20-50. Its the rest of the parts that usually take around 1000 miles before they wear in and mesh, but again it all depends on the metals that they were made out of. Also make sure you change the Oil every 300 miles tell you get around 1000 miles on it, AND NOT CHINO MILES U.S.A Miles Lefty

I had a similar problem and replacing the starter ended up fixin it. The bendix ended up a bit worm out as a result of it all, but it still works and catches on the first try most of the time. Kick start really is the way to go for the first while with a new BBK, but I understand if you can't. Make sure your battery is good, and if it won't go after 20-30 seconds spread across a few attempts, give it a minute or too. Don't just sit spinning it endlessly over and over, that's how I trashed my first one.
