So I ordered one of the 150cc short cases from a leading ebay seller of Gy6 motors stores.ebay.com/T-MOTORSPORTS-STORE/Engines-Components-/_i.html?_fsub=1876477&_sid=111966282&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322The shipment was fast and packed in the original Chinese box with the original label o the box that read 1P39QMB, the vin plate on the engine says 1P39QMB, and the valve cover has 50cc stamped in it. They had this to say: "Hi, please note that the engine is a real 150cc engine. The stamp on the engine is just for import issue. If you open the cover of the piston, you will see 149/150cc, and the measurement is 57 mm. Also when you test the engine, it can performance 150cc. Thank You." My thing is that this is a pretty big issue and is not disclosed at all in the auction, meanwhile they have protection on their end with a no way no how engine return policy. I cannot see anything about the overall external dimensions of the engine and case that make it an obvious 50cc. It seems to appear as a 150cc even though I cannot see a 150cc stamp on the jug like they show in their pictures. I'm not willing to break the timing chain to pull the head off just to measure the bore. Is there any other way to confirm the CC size? I, now, have heard that these folks were selling 150ccs that were actually 125cc. How can you tell the difference between a 125 and a 150? Has this been covered in any other threads?

You don't have to break the timing chain to remove the head.

Simple....the engine mount points for a 150cc are on top of the engine. The mount points for a 50cc are below.
This whole incident surprises me.....the seller has knowingly been selling "gray-market" engines that don't conform to any EPA standards. And probably smuggled into the country.....could get the guy in big trouble.

This has been going on for the past year. Lots of people are really p^ssed...
Not certain who is to blame or what is going on frankly...maybe it is a 150cc? The 50cc engines are very easy to tell. The difference between a 125cc and a 150cc is based on the piston size, so at worse you have 125cc.
I have questioned the quality on these engines, if it looks to good to be true it probably is. You get what you pay for.
