Hey guys, I have GY6 150 biacco runner (aka jmstar) After about a month or two... of no use, i decided to get my scoot starting again, but i came to a tiny problem that's starting to get me... When starting, all is fine (electric wise) ;D, but after a few seconds it stalls, I happen to have changed the fuel line tubes to clear just so i can check the flow and turns out the fuel is not(or barely) going to the carburetor. It works fine when i MANUALLY inject gas in carb but never last! Could it be "a air leak", fuel pump, or carb setting problem? It seems like the card is not "sucking gas"! I will put some pics if you have questions.

For any scooter that sits for a good period of time the carb will always need to be cleaned cuz the old gas that's left in it will tend to gum things up. Same goes for the fuel pump (petcock) and new filters.

Check you Fuel Filter you may have mistakenlly put it in backwards. The Wider part of the Filter goes toward the Carb. You also may have air in the line, disconnect the fuel hose from the Carb and put the hose in little container and crank the engine, see if fuel starts to flow out. Lefty

Happens to the best of us, as a matter of fact there was one a couple days ago that put it on backwards and opened an issue no gas to the carb. He rechecked it and WHOLA he admitted he put it in backwards. The one that happens to me once in a while is hitting the damn kill switch especially if I have gloves on you cannot feel the swivel of the switch:) So there you are you hit the start button and it cranks and cranks but no start. Then the light comes on and you notice the switch usually the Damn Word comes out then you laugh to yourself. Lefty

well since i never took it off, im pretty sure it is on the right way... on the other hand, i DID plug the intake manifold vacuum port to vacuum line on fuel pump... result --> FLOOD!! I have 3 fuel port on my carbu, where do they go?? .. can't remember..! Also is it possible to change the front body parts of a scooter to a different one like from this --> to this --> or this Since it seems to be the same frame, it should fit, right? at least the back is the same. Because mine is like this right now and im gonna need a new front body -->

i doubt you can just change out front end plastic, the mounting points the chinese weld on are undoubtly not interchangeable with another, now if you got a the handle bar assembly, or a wrecked one you could steal all the parts you needed.
the front shields probably interchange cause they use the same backer, the handle bar assembly and related plastic is a different story.

Well, There should be a hose on your Fuel Pump and or Petcock( If the tank is above the Carb it is a Petcock, if Tank is below Carb it is a Fuel Pump). Now for the Fuel Pump and or Petcock to work it needs VACUUM and the Vacuum hose from the Petcock or Fuel Pump goes to that Nipple on your Intake in the Picture above. And what do you mean you carb has three Fuel ports? There should only be One Fuel Port, One Bowl Drain Port and most likely a Deceleration Port. Lefty Here is a picture of a Carb which may look similiar to yours. Left Side Right Side

Looking good my man, that is the way it should be GOOD JOB. By the way I like the Clear Lines you can easly see if fuel is flowing to your carb. By the way were did you get the Clear Lines(Hobby Shop?). Lefty

it looks like your setting is wrong, i am having a flood again!!
Fuel is dripping by the "air in" side to the air box. I now have fuel all over the crankcase cover.
does anybody have the same scoot i have and could take a pic of your cardu and post so i can put this thing back together, please? i put a full tank of gas yesterday and don't want the tank to get empty in my back yard...
Just take your seat off and shoot a pic... thankyou.
baccio runner 150cc.

Mrbraco, If its flooding while it is setting their you have a bad Petcock that is NOT shutting off. The Petcock has a Diaphgram in there that when the engine starts the Vacuum Line that is hooked up to it Opens the Diaphgram and lets Fuel Flow into your Hose to the Carb. To test it just unplug the fuel line from the Carb and put it in a container(If Fuel Keeps coming out it is not shutting off and it is bad). You can either buy a new Petcock or Replace it with just a Shut off valve, but if you do then everytime you shut the engine off make sure you close the valve
If your Petcock is OK and it floods when the engine is running then it is your Carb Float that is not shutting off the fuel into the Carb Bowl.

Can't see it really well (tired old eyes) but it looks like you have a "T" in the fuel line running to the air cut valve. There should be no "T" in the fuel line - it should run from the pump/petcock to fuel inlet (left side, under the autochoke). The air cut valve is vacuum operated.

It also looks like you have a crack in your manifold. It may just be the photo but maybe LEFTY can help me out with thie shot,
LEFTY check out his photo and see if his manifold is cracked please. I know that has nothing to do with his starting but will affect his running.. Also if you have not you really should take your carb off and give it a real good cleaning.

There should be no "T" in the fuel line - it should run from the pump/petcock to fuel inlet (left side, under the autochoke). The air cut valve is vacuum operated. If i take the T off, i would have a valve in the open air (by the throttle). That T was there since the very first day I had the scooter.. it is a 150cc 4stroke. It also looks like you have a crack in your manifold. It may just be the photo but maybe LEFTY can help me out with this shot, Also if you have not you really should take your carb off and give it a real good cleaning. there is no crak in my fold... and i did look at the carb, that's what got me misplace the lines in the first place, but i'am thinking about checking my carb from A to Z while being more careful this time.. *** after a little more searching, i found this page: scootusa.com/150_connections.htmand i think i found my mistake ..... My T should be on the VACUUM LINE ! not the fuel line !!! At least my Fuel Filter is not backwards...

Ok - I thought it was just my old eyes. Were you replumbing to eliminate the charcol canister or something else?
Anyways one of the vacuum ports on the intake is for the operation of the deceleration valve and the petcock/fuel pump while the second which may be flow restricted is for the charcol canister to recover fuel vapor.
Yes the T should be on the vacuum line going to the two valves

Philr54, Damn, your right did not even see that, he had the fuel line going to the Vacuum "T". Good catch like I always say, two heads are better than one. No wonder it was flooding.
Builditright, We may both have bad eyes but I cannot see a crack in his intake. I can see the indent that the clamp fits onto but that is it. In the picture by the top screw there is a line but I think that is just where it was joined. Other than that I do not see a crack. Lefty

It could be your CHOKE(ENRICHER), if it is not working it will be hard starting when it is cold. You can check it out real simple, take it off and look at it, If you can see a spring between the rubber holder and the Plunger it is EXTENDED when COLD and it should be RETRACTED. Then lay it down and cover the hole with your hands and try starting it. What you will be doing is acting like the CHOKE to feed some fuel when cold. Let us know how that works. Lefty

I'm having the same problems with a used 150 that I just purchased. I replaced the sparkplug and took the carb off and cleaned it up. Ran great and then tried to start it today and it wouldn't start. What is weird is the temperature in my shop was about 50 degrees. I turned the heat on and the silly thing started?

I did notice when I took the carb off that the manifold had a minor or slight crack that appeared to be surface only. Could that be the problem? If it is the petcock, where is that located. This is my first scooter so I'm new to the scooter world.

Sure sounds like the choke is not working or your air/fuel mixture is not set right. Try what I mentioned above that will prove it one way or the other. Lefty

In the cold weather the problem is enrichers on the GY6 simply don't enrich ENOUGH.
There is a really simple solution and that is to choke the engine by hand.
Simply find the air intake of the air box on a stock set-up. Cover this air opening with your bare hand and give the starter a couple of goes.
Then uncover the air box intake and try and start the scooter...
I have done this here in Canada in -10 deg, starts right up...

I hope those are fuel grade hoses, at least for the fuel lines...if they are just run-of-the-mill vinyl water lines you could have trouble down the line...
They get warm and collapse pinching of the vacuum, and fuel supply. In time they swell and get loose on the barbs.
The worse situation they soften to the point the come off the barbs and flood the engine in gas...
I recommend Tygon or Excelon, Grayline FL75-PVC etc.
They will be marked E10 (for use with 10% Ethanol) or SAE 30R7 or something similar...

That may be how to get your scoot started in Canada when the actual temp is in the Minus Degrees. But here in the U.S we get Wind Chills in the Minus but not actual Temps that low. Here the Enricher works just fine well into the single digits if your carb is adjusted correctly and your battery can turn over the motor. Lefty

Actually, they are not... thank you for the note. i put those to check my lines, and it was kinda good looking. then i put gas in a small apple juice cup only to see it melt away, i saw there was a ploblem..! Like you say, i put the original fuel line back on and left the clear for the vacuum line. For the enricher, i admit lost one of the screws, and having a 2008 model, the foam at the airbox opening is not there anymore,so i probably have too much air in the first place! Maybe the 11.468 miles on dash have something to do with it... ;D Also an idea crossed my mind, would it do any bad to add a second battery to my circuit? Will it make more juice to start the machine or more chance to blew the fuse? Thinking od adding my old battery to it or a car battery..
