Yea 43 is pretty good, but i have my doubts, I think my chinaOmeter is a little off, but without a GPS or a pace car it's hard to know for sure.. Also there is a huge hill about two miles long, on the North side of town about 2 miles long, going down that hill I bury the ChinaOmeter, but going up it my speed drops to about 30 to 32.. Traffic on that road goes between 45 to 55 MPH, Posted speed limit is 45. And I have to travel that. So that's the traffic I'm dealing with
My average speed most of the time on the ChinaOmeter hits between 35 and 40, and it takes quite a bit of distance to get there. And the thing that really bothers me is I'm pushing the engine hard at WOT.. If I could make those speeds and back down a little on the throttle it wouldn't be so hard on it...

Yeah a BBK will help too keep from pushing the engine so hard. I'm sure your Chinometer is just a little "optimistic" on that speed. Actually since these motors were originally designed and used as 70cc Honda motors a 72cc BBK is really like putting it back to original specs. I just wouldn't go anything more than 47mm on cylinder size when your using it for daily transportation.

I'm shocked I haven't seen one person mention Lenhai as a good Chinese scooter seeing they manufacture Yamaha motors. As a matter of fact Yamaha has stake in their company ever since they contracted Linhai back in 94. From the research I've done no other Chinese scooter manufacturer has a brain trust like Yamaha at their disposal like Linhai does. Oh well to each their own...

The Tao Tao CY50-T3 pictured in my avatar pic is amazing for $699, delivered
I had looked at a few Jap bikes...didn't much like them, and wasn't about to spend $3K ($2300+dealer prep+taxes....) on a lousy 50cc scooter!
Got this Tao Tao a week agao and have been pushing it rather hard, and I am just amazed. The quality is much improved over m,y '08 Tao Tao ATV. I often bury the speedo at 50 (which I believe to be about 42MPH in reality, even on a moderate upgrade...on flat ground I'll bury it and keep going!.
I love it! It looks better and performs just as well (if not better) than the Yamaha Zuma I was looking at- for a quarter of the price. Is the Yamaha 4 times the bike this is? HAhahah!!! It's maybe equal...on a good day..if it's lucky.
Parts for this are cheap, when I may need them in the future. And this is bone stock...imagine after a few upgrades???
I love this thing! It does not seem anything like your cheesy, cheap Chinese vehicle of years ago...the fit and finish and performance of this baby is just amazing for the price.
I bought this with the idea of being content to be a second-class scooter citizen, and just living with that designation just being content that my scooter was cheap...but after riding this scoot and not babying it, I can say that us cheap Chinese scooter owners do NOT have to feel inferior to Jap owners anymore! In fac t, if I owned a Jap bike, and then saw one of these, THEN I would feel inferior, for having spent so much money and having goitten little if anything more.
I am thoroughly please and feel that I have gotten more than my money's worth. This model and this particular model year have seen upgrades over other models and years...so what I say here does not apply to all Tao Taos across the board- which is true of all of the CHEAP Chinese brands- the quality can vary from model to model and from year to year...but this 2011 CY50-T3 is a winner!
Purchased from MYATVS.com- and it was a perfect experience- they answer the phone and really know their product.

I was shopping for a scooter recently and I decided Taiwanese or Korean. In the end I went for Taiwanese make called SYM. This was partly because they made a model I wanted but also because I've been to Taiwan and it's full of scooters - so they must know what they are doing Also I don't think the Chinese scoots are any cheaper than the Taiwanese, and the Taiwanese after you take account of having to buy new bits, and the fact you can get spares for them. I new Sym turns up next week so I'll know shortly if I made a good choice

I had a TaoTao but got rid of it avoid them or Peace . I have a Cf?Moto Echarm is has a great engine with EFI and a 2 year warranty but not cheap .
I also have 2 Jonways , a Magnum which is a 2T 49cc and a blast to ride I love it , and a Jonway Rock Thunder which is a 150 with radio , alarm , remote start and 16 inch wheels like my Echarm . Both Jonways are 100 lbs lighter than the Echarm which feels like a tank after riding the Jonways . I love how the Echarm can out run any 150 with ease , brakes are great and bright headlight but handles terrible . The 150 Jonway has sametires and wheels but superb in handling and safe . The Echarm is unsafe above 50 MPH and now hits 75 with sliders .
Wow that place is high priced I only paid 1600 for mine . Echarms are getting hard to get my dealer has been out for months and starting selling Jonways , and they are selling as fast as they can uncrate them .
I have only ridden a Jonway Magnum and Rock Thunder but from just based on those two I suggest a Jonway as I am very happy with mine . All three have discs F&R which is super rare on a 50 .
If you want a 50 than I strongly suggest a 2 stroke as they are fun , easier to service and faster than the 4 strokes . The 4T 50s often get pushed hard beyond its limits resulting with failure as newbies think it should perform like a motorcycle which it does not .
I am 200 lbs and my Magnum cruises 4x but can top out at 50 MPH ( yes its not KPH ) , will easily smoke a 4T and the huge 130/60/13 tires make handling so good I can go down the street with no hands on the grips . I also ride over cracks in the road that make my Echarm unstable while the Magnum I can not tell there were there as I ride right over with ease . Also a 2T can coast and does not have the tranny drag like a 4T that slows you down and no oil changes ever except the gear box .
So I am casting 2 votes for Jonway since I am so pleased with them .
If you look in classified you may get lucky and find a used Honda scooter
