Sorry for the delay in posting the 50cc to 150cc engine swap, we had to make some small adjustments again to the mounting bracket. I am hoping to start with the build this weekend, if all goes well.

Finally got to install the 150cc motor into the new 50cc scooter. We are not completely done, still working a a few things and the custom exhaust header. This swap is for one of our customers, he wanted the Fatty kit with the 235 rear tire. I will be posting pictures of the build pretty soon, as well as photo's of the final build.

Looks good. I must say, I like that better than the Rucks with the swap and the fat tire. I think it's mostly because it seems like every nice Ruck has that done, but it's still pretty uncommon among Chinese scoots.

Brent, Your so right in our area they are starting to crack down.. The state police are learning more about the scooters as far as what to look for. The county cops and locals are doing so just for something to do and to harrass some of the local boys who do not have a license that are running scooters because they have lost the license due to DWI.. So it is coming slowly. Bill I really hate that perception by the public, Not all of us riding scooters do it because we lost our license to DWI.. I don't drink alcohol never have. I drive them because they are cheap to operate, and I love driving them.

Does the nos bottle act as a oil drain (from when u get the uni filter and remove the stock filter you take the small hose off the filter and put it in bottle? what is this hose exactly for? is it just to release crappy oil mixture or something?

Post by monsterGY6 on Dec 11, 2010 13:09:39 GMT -5
I use the NOS bottle as an oil catch can to trap the excess oil that will blow out the valve cover, just make sure you also vent the bottle with a small hole at the top

That has to be the coolest scooter mod ever!!!! Do you sell a matching front rim for either one of the fatty tires?

My question is how does the ike ride with such a wide, flat shaped tread in the rear? I imagine the other tire with the rounded carcass would be alright but that flat carcass tire would be a bear to lean into a turn with. I state as evidence the pic where the bike is standing upright with no kick stand supporting it.

I see a kickstand in those pics I think. A fat tire like that is more for drag racing anyway. But there are thousands of bikes out there (especially choppers) that have a huge fat tire and a little narrow tire up front. They handle okay you just have to realize it's not made for leaning hard into turns thats all.

I understand where you are coming from but even choppers have a rounded tire profile as compazred to the square profile of the one fat tire. I have no illusions as to winning the scooter gp with a tire like that its more of rideability question.

you do give up some handling for the cool look, but even with the 235 fat tire is is still pretty comfortable to ride. We will offer a chrome front wheel to match the polished rear, and then we will also have a black rear wheel as well.
I will post more pics soon.

What is your plan for keeping the motor from twisting?
|
|
|
Post by monsterGY6 on Dec 18, 2010 16:05:55 GMT -5
The way that the mount is constructed (box construction) and the way it fastens to the crossbar on the frame with three collars, it has zero twist motion in it, and then we have a stabilizer bar that runs front to back, to stop forward and backward movement.
I will get some close up photo's of the mount posted soon.
The engineering of this mount is truly fantastic.

The reason I ask is my drag race scooter with a mild 6" stretch has some lean to the right when your on it. I believe it has to do with the single shock and the rubber bushings in the motor mount. Compismo even redesigned his mounts to account for the lean with the ruck swaps. Im putting one of the new 2t mounts on my ruck this winter because it has a little lean to it as well. Look forward to the pictures, and keep up the good work

There is no more play in the rubber engine mounts with the conversion mount that with the stock set up. It is as sturdy as all hell It was pretty cool getting some thumbs up from passing traffic.

Larry, I never said that you or anyone else were drunks or drank or rode scooters cause you lost your license and had DWI's. I was just talking about KNOWN CASES in the area where I live.. If you took what I said that way then I am truely sorry. Bill

Has anyone ever converted Fly/Znen IL Bello 50cc to 150cc w/engine swap?? Both the 50 and 150 have the same size chassis, but not sure of motor mount...

I don't mean to be negative about this. I know you spent alot of work on it and some people on this site love the look. However, I must be the only one who thinks it looks ugly, almost comical? It looks like the scooter broke and someone glued the rear wheel on without any regard to the aesthetics of it. It just plain LOOKS WRONG. Now, if you have created body panels which cover up the empty space behind the rear light and side panels which cover up the hole underneath the fenders, then maybe I could get on board with it.
There MUST be a way of making a mount for a 150 without added the extra foot of length.
How much power do you lose by using such a clearly mismatched rear tire?

If one is into custom work, hot rods, performance, etc then you will love it as most people do, if one is more into the traditional, conservative, stock look then I guess it is not for you, and that is fine that's what life in America is all about, opinions and choices.
So far our feed back has been amazing, so much so that we will be exhibiting the Fat Scooters at the world of wheels show.

OK Guys, It's 2011 now....I want to know (along with a few others) how this project worked out and also how to order some of these bad asses for my shop for show. I can't wait til spring so I can do the mod and blow these 50cc dudes right out of the water! Not that I don't now, but they can sorta keep up on flat roads. I also like to pass traffic if I can so come on people, let's get this going!
