i have an opportunity to purchase a Benelli Andretti M50 Scooter for 900 dollars. Anyone know anything about this scooter? I'm new to this and want to start out with a decent scooter. DO NOT want one of those disaster chinese scooter stories being one of mine. And would enjoy a quite ride as well if there is a such thing. anyone know of a decent scooter i could get used? 1500 is my limit. Really only wanna spend around 800. And i live in nc. have no idea where to look besides craigslist and ebay. Please help? Any input at all is greatly appreciated.

From what I've seen those are nice scoots. You always have to be careful on a used bike, but I was contemplating buying one new.
I finally went the cheapest route I could find. Roketa $613 dropped shipped to a no account fly by night dealer. I'll drop probably another $300 or so on performance Mods and call it good.
In retrospect that's a pretty high price tag on a Roketa, but by doing the work, I'll gain a lot of the knowledge needed to keep it up and running and out of the shop.
It would be way too easy to go through that 300 dollars in a shop somewhere, while they were adjusting my valves and cleaning the carb, just to make it start again, and have nothing really to show for it.

They are known to have leaky fuel tanks that the manufacturer refuses to cover under warranty.

The gas tank is dodgey but the scooter is a runner.

M50 is a great bike....fuel tank is ok...the fuel supply line wears prematurely near carb

I rode one for a year. it is a good scoot, fast for a 50cc. Body parts might be an issue, as the importer may not still be in business. But the engine is straight Minarelli 2 stroke, no problem.
There is a guy in NC selling a new SYM HD 200 for $1800. Jump on it.

Power Sports Factory in Philly is selling M50's for $1150...check Craigslist for phone # & additional info..I bought one in Aug. no problems so far except for the Enricher taking too long to close..still warm here in Philly..
