Is that for when it gets stolen like a Lojack? Can it be remote activated, like activating it when you know your scooter is gone?

yes you just call it from your cell when your scooter is stolen and it will message you back with the coordinates, and if you have an iphone it will map it for you

BestBuy sells a GPS and Cellular triangulation device under their Insignia brand. it's sold as a "child tracking device" and looks to be a pretty neat gizmo. i've been thinking about getting it and stashing it somewhere on my Scout. IIRC it costs $50-60 and has either a $10/month unlimited tracking package or $1 per track including mobile device access. there's a review of it here www.slashgear.com/best-buy-offers-insignia-gps-child-tracking-solution-2361629/unfortunately i don't see it on the best buy site anymore.

Or you could use a prepaid cell phone!!?? 1/3 the cost and the same result. There is a how to link on this forum somewhwere but, I am lazy. No monthly fees, Just ues for GPS tracking and pay for the phone. Pay as you go, Plus if you get stranded you have a hidden emergecy phone.

the one thing that i liked about the insignia device is that it's USB chargable and claims a standby batterylife of about a month, i think most cellphones are quite a bit less as well as probably more bulky. if i end up getting it, i will be sure to update this thread.

I think its a good idea no matter what size scoot you ride and even more so with 50s as most are not registered or insured Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

That is correct, a 250cc scooter is registered with the DMV and requires registration wherever it goes, also there exist new federal statutes in place that make it tough to "salvage" vehicles and if someone steals a 250cc they're as guilty as if they stole a car.
