I did my DIY Briggs and Stratton muffler mod today. It sounds freakin sweet but isnt too terribly loud. I put the coupling on it so I can take it off when changed the back tire. We ran a straight pipe and that thing was LOOUDDD!! How much was the total cost you ask? Around $14 if you need to buy 3/32" electrodes for the welder.
I lost a little low end torque but shes loud and had a 1-2 mph increase on flat ground speed. I have stock jet and its not even running a little bit lean. Pics will follow.

Not bad but you should paint or chrome it!

You could make a bladed valve bypass, just like the throttle, that is RPM controlled and it will dump the extra exhaust gas when there is the higher volume at higher RPM's. Kind of like a low tech V-Tec. That would help you to keep your low end torque if you tune the exhaust header but still give you the extra oomph at WOT!

Im going to hit it with some wrinkle black when I get a chance. But as far as my torque goes, it might just be in my head. It was probably already slow. Its got enough back pressure with this muffler to not make it so lean and when I run it open pipe I can notice it spark knocking over the ungodly loud fartin it does haha. I got a good many comments today on how it sounds. My mechanic is going to do the same mod tomorrow.

Can you post an MP3 of the sound? If it sounds good, I might find a local welder and do it myself.

I dont have a way to post the noise of it, but I can assure you that you wont be disappointed. Since you are running a Peace Sports scoot, you might have to upjet because those things run a little lean to start with. For some reason these Roketas run rich from the factory and you have to lean them out all the way for them to run right. I found this out last week because I kept having bogging issues. But with your motor, a UNI air filter, this exhaust mod, and some good rollers, your scoot will flat roll out on the flats.

word of advice, ive done this a while ago and i like it because it was cheap. but after a month or two of riding the wields at the flange broke off other day leaving my exhaust bouncing down the road. your going to want to fanagel some sort of bracket thats gonna go from where you wielded the flange on to where the original muffler mounted on the engine case. im in the process of doing that now so i dont have to ride home without a exhaust pipe again.

Yea this one is actually VERY sturdy and they are making them alot better nowadays. But I am trying to figure out what course of action I am going to take to strap her down.
