Medman has the trike forum in place now. I joined yesterday. This does not mean that I am leaving Scootdawg but for trike related discussions it is good to have a forum dedicated to trikers. Lets support scooterrebels.com since medman is trying to help us to have a forum of our own.

Anyone know about those Suntrike bikes? I found a guy that was one of the engineres for the prototype and he just happens to have one of the prototypes in his backyard, just fading away. He said he would sell it. is it worth buying or are there alot of issues with these, what do you guys think?

Ross, Why buy a prototype, you probably won't be able to register it. Also in your state they may not be legal on the streets, so where would you drive it? I would check with your DMV in your state first about those kinds of Trikes. Also is it a 50cc or 150cc etc..

The trike has been titled and it is street legal in Florida. The guy said that they went through all the red tape to get it titled for testing. It is a 150cc and I thought it it would be a good tinkering project. He said he would sell it for a couple a hundred, if I was going to fix it up and drive it around town(advertisment). I was told that this car was the last one before production. www.suntrike.com/gallery.htm

Well then it would probably be a 2005 model - that was the year Mod Cycles and Decelste sent them to Indy for the launch - 2006 was the EPA approval. They have been in rental fleets since 2007 that I know of, but I do believe there were many problems with the first year production models. But with a retail of between $6500 and $7500, a couple of hundred bucks sounds like a deal!

I made that posting on 1/6 before I was aware of PowerScooters. As I remember theee was a p*****G contest going on between the two moderators around that time. I then joined Powerscooters.org as well. Somebody else had mentioned them by that time and that is how I knew of them. I find both sites to be well presented, well managed, and equally interesting. Powerscooters offers a seperate board for trikes while Scooterrebels offers a sub board. I check them daily but neither has a lot of activity at this point, a fair amount of 'crossover' postings from Scoot dawg. However in both sites defense they have only been offering trike stuff since 1/10 so it will take a little time for the word to get around.

Hi Trikers, Since some of you are having a little trouble adjusting the Reverse Cable that causes Shuddering and or Jumping when going either in Reverse or Forward I thought It might help if I showed the Positions of the Mechanism in each Mode. Notice the Position of the Cable Ball, there is NOT a lot of Rotation of the Reverse Mechanism going from Forward Mode to Reverse Mode. Alleyoop 1. This picture is the FORWARD position: 2. This picture is the REVERSE position:

Hi Trikers, As you probably already have read on some of the other trike threads Dwild62 and If have put on Taller Tires on our Trikes. Noticed that due to the taller tires it tightened up the chain a little so if you put on taller tires check your chain tension. I re-adjusted the chain to have about 1/2 slack. Alleyoop

Hi everyone,
Now that you all had your trikes for awhile, would you buy another one? I,m thinking about purchasing one but want to ask people who own them about the pro's and con's of getting one. Which brand do you think is best in the up to $2500. range? Thanks for your time and input. Sammymantha,

Hey Sammy : Welcome to Scootdawg. I have an Ice Bear 150cc four stroke. Its a great bike for the price range you are looking for. Out of the box and after the break-in period (800-1000mi) you will be able to do 45-50mph. With a little $ you can upgrade your CVT and get another 5-7mph. And if you were to buy a slightly larger tire another 5-7. The 2010s don't have a reverse. The 09's do. The reverse gear in the 09's is a little temperamental. You will want to have at the least, a solid understanding of the engine, tranny, and axle design. Now is a good time to buy going into Spring and Summer. There is a reputable guy in Wisconsin that sells them and would be happy to chat it up with you, if you have any further questions. Here's his website: www.rapidrepair.webs.com/
