Awesome cyber thank you for the link. This will work for me right? It looks a tad bit different from my carb but not by much. but for that price it would be worth getting anyway.

With $10 shipping it brings it to about $38 about what you find them going for on ebay all day long. I bought mine from a local importer/e-bayer pccmotor.com Paid $35 cash and walked out with it.

Local scooter shops around here are asking $75 for the same carb. They just probably bought it online and want a profit.

I really doubt they're selling the same carb locally for $75... I know all of my local dealers and no one sells the cheapo version like that one at all. We sell the Japan Standard version for $59, and yes we make a profit. After all, that's why businesses are in business! Do you know how much profit it takes to pay my annual insurance bill of $8800.00?
We used to have the same carb for $39 but tossed them because of the quality. It's quite possible your local stores sell real Japan carbs, and in that case, $75 would not be too much - Japan standard are just as good. If you want your eyes to pop, go to a Vespa dealer and order a carb - $210 was the dealer cost for us, but the customer wanted genuine Vespa parts (it was a Japan carb).

Just get the needle and head down to your local hobby store that sells remote controlled car parts. I'm looking at mine now it's just a little 2.5mm E clip. Usually about a dollar or so for a pack of 5.

I would have been out of business a long time ago at that rate! How about we do it a different way? Let's see... the shop operates from Jan - May for the government... June - Nov for the expenses, and we have a whopping month of profit if we're lucky! -Rich

If the clip is missing, the needle may have slipped out of the diaphram, and be sitting in the needle jet right now. With the diaphram out, look down inthe carb body, do you see small hole for needle to work in, or needle top, sitting in needle jet?

Hey guys just giving an update. I am still waiting on the carb to arrive. I got the cheapo one off of ebay. Maybe after I get everything running right I will spend a little more on it but as the way it is now I'm not even sure if it will do what it's supposed to.
I did check the carb for the needle, it's not in there. Doing a little more research on this particular carb it is not manufactured anymore. That and from some schematics on it, it seems to not have a clip. The needle looks completely different in the diagram. Basically the needle is long and skinny with a top on it. It sits in the diaphragm with a white cap, which houses a smaller spring, setting ontop of the needle. The bigger carburetor spring sits over all of that and that's about it. So there is no clip in it at all.

Well the new carb arrived today and installed and all I can say is THANK YOU!!! Solved everything. From the valve adjustment and the new carb I was able to go up a steep upgrade, and I'm talking really steep, I was able to maintain 20mph. On flat surface I was able to hit 37-40mph.
I don't know how to thank you guys. You have saved me hundreds of dollars. I would give ya'll a hug if I could lol. Thanks you guys.

Nah I'm in western Washington. We have had a pretty dry winter believe it or not. This was the first slightly rainy day in a week. The rest of the time it's been sunshine. Figures though when I get my scoot fixed it's rainy outside lol.

If you wanna see some extra power order yourself an 84 or 86 main jet and remove the intake choke and snorkel, you'll relocate the crankcase vent hose to the plugged hole on the intake tube. Install the jet, I found that the 84 worked spot on for me for a derestricted intake. And also a huge performance boost will be a high performance variator like a polini or you could just get some 6 gram roller weights and throw those in the variator. With a derestricted intake and polini variator I can easily bury the speedometer needle at or just above an indicated 50 mph, in reality it's around 44-45 mph and I also accelerate just about as fast as normal traffic. But for now I put the restrictor, snorkel and 76 main jet back in since I like the 120 mpg that I'm getting after disabling the accelerator pump and adjusting the mix screw.
