Want a small 250? Look for a 80's Honda Elite 250 on Craigslist. It will require some work, and new tires (probably) but you will be better off in the long run.

I hear ya CCProf. I'm no exception! Would love one but not so sure I would want to beat it for delivery though. A buddy of mine from Scicily had one that his father sold for $300 now that he(my buddy) is a U.S.A. citizen. It pains me to think about it....

Thanks Zugzug for the suggestion on parts. I'm putting together a parts order this week sometime(both to start out with and extras for the inevitible) and the generic Haynes manual. jspringator; I already have this one and it's gonna be quite the project till I make it through scooter boot camp but I am already thinking of gettting a second one(either a used one as a winter project or another new one in the spring) just to have a back up. I've been delivering as a full time plus career for years at a friend's shop and don't see that changing in the forseeable future so the investments I am making are definately worth it. Who knows; Maybe with all the hands on experience I'll be getting maybe I'll grow the scooter thing into a side business down the road. Right now just focusing on the basics for my own scooter survival!

Well I just grabbed one of these jewells off fleabay for a thousand bucks delivered to my door. cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200504869029&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:MOTORS:1123 There are a few reasons I went for this one, I did my homework before I jumped. We are going to be toting this on a hitch mounted carrier behind our motor home. We will only be using it for basic, and I do mean basic transportation while camping. Tooling around the campgrounds, and the occasional run to the store. I like the 150cc frame with the 250 motor because I figure the shorter wheelbase will be easier to load and unload on and off the hitch carrier. My wife, all 5 foot and buck 05 weight will probably have a lot less trouble driving this than a full size 250, and it should get my fat butt where I need to go. I'm not planning on touring cross country. I would be happy to post my experiences with this scoot in this forum if anyone is interested.

I grabbed one of said scoots off of ebay too. I've only had it a month and I haven't removed the body panels and gotten to its inards yet. I'll post the engine code when I've had a chance to do that. I look forward to following your posts, Equidave, as we're riding the same machine. Well, my wife is riding it, but I'm her designated mechanic.

I registered mine on the wesite but I haven't receieved the COA yet, so in theory I can't take 'er out on the street, although that may or may not have already happened. Luckily the city cop that lives across the street is on vacation. I'm taking this time to do a PDI per the link in Rich's sig. I must say, not much rust for an '06, and not as many electrical connectors as I expected. I'm changing all the fluids. It's not a big deal, and it's allowing me to get to know her, so I'll be prepared when somrthing goes wrong. So far, so good.
