So recently my scooter has been acting up. It began after I didn't ride it for 3 weeks. It is 150cc Xtreme Xm150. I got it in June. My battery died from me being oblivious, so it wouldn't start. I got it to kick start and got the battery to charge a little bit. But it failed to remain intact.
It was also having trouble Idling. It still does. After revving it to 6000-7000 it will rev at 1000 and die shortly after. I turned the Idle up to fix this. It was doing fine, but it started doing it again after 2 weeks.
I replaced the battery and the starter works just fine, but sometimes it wont start. It seems like the starter is going fine, but there is no gas getting to it. I checked the gas hoses, and everything seems to be flowing fine.
Yesterday I was riding on it with my girlfriend and it began to backfire. It has never done this before. I read another thread saying to clean and tighten the spade connectors going to the coil for the spake plug, so i did. I don't know if this solved the backfire problem.
I did check the Carburetor and it was completely clean.
It still has trouble Idling. I don't want to turn it up again if it will just fall back down and repeat the process. I want to see if something else is causing the problem.
It has also been getting cold lately, but I don't know how much temperature change effects it.
I don't know much about scooters, or automotive. Please try to give me any information you can.

Good fuel flow. 6 months old. 1100 miles. Air filter is fairly clean. I don't know how to clean the Fuel filter, or how to tell if it is dirty. I don't know how to find any air or vacuum leaks. I haven't adjusted any valves.
valves are due......with it running on the center stand spray carb cleaner on vacuum hoses and intake and see if it changes/effects idle...when i was checking mine for leaks, it would stall with carb cleaner sprayed on leaking connections
valves, engine intake and exhaust, under the valve cover at front of engine, they should be gapped at approx. .004/inch----intake is the connection at top fwd of the engine connecting the carb to the engine. vacuum hoses..small hoses that are connected to a bunch of stuff including carb and fuel pump, the origin of the vacuum comes from the intake, you can follow them from there...hoses might be cracked/loose..chinese rubber can be of poor quality--tighten connections/replace hose. there are lots of threads on here that talk about these common issues. a good starting point would be to read the PDI (pre-delivery inspection) posting on here. very informative. x1scooters.com/scooterpdi.html
Jon I'm glad it's running for ya! You had better order a new intake or two. Others have tried RTV sealant and other tricks, I think all off them fail after a short while. Lots of places have the intakes for sale and i don't think they are very expensive. Mine has been fine (1800 miles) but I have a spare already to go. I guess these are a common problem There is also a performance all metal intake that is availible. I bought one but I can't make it fit. frame crossmember/engine mount just rear of the carb on my scoot is in the way.

marklorenzi: I just bought one of the Fleetwoods. They look like a clone of the Honda XRM's they sell overseas. It is in transit now and I should get it this week. I will try to post my experience here. Call me the guinea pig hahaha.
