It's not the number of poles that matter, it's the phase arrangement. Granted the 11 pole is sure to be 3-phase but between the 6 and the 8 it's not so obvious if it's supposed to have a half wave or a full wave rectifier (and even then is it floating ground?). You need a multi-meter to figure it out.

lh6.googleusercontent.com/-hjBWxcphec0/TiL2bbvmziI/AAAAAAAAAhM/XD3svBYhOys/GY6Charging.JPGI recently came across this GY6 charging system diagram and I found it most helpful in understanding exactly how these things are supposed to work. It shows that the yellow wire is a center tap on the stator windings and the white wire is an end tap. This means if you are checking the AC output of the stator, then you should be getting twice the voltage at the white wire as you get at the yellow one. In this setup the enricher and the lights run directly off of the AC current from the yellow wire off of the stator and the output of the white wire is rectified and regulated to charge the battery via the red wire.Seeing this diagram helped me figure out a problem on a Roketa Bermuda 150 that was burning out lights, but not able the charge the battery. When I checked the AC voltage coming out of the stator, I found twice the voltage on the yellow as I had on the white. When I checked the plug that connects the stator to the main wire harness of the scooter, the colors all matched up. That would indicate that whoever soldered the yellow and white wires to the stator, mixed them up. This kind of problem would be near impossible to diagnose without an accurate diagram to help understand the circuit, tho the problem could have been solved if somebody just threw a stator at it. For some reason the image tags are not working here today, but the hyperlink tags are.

Not a bad diagram.. the resistors aren't used any more...they are not incorporated into the enrichers

Please can someone help. ive been googling all nitecso sorry to drag up old threads. i just got a 50cc cpi popcorn moped. slight front accident damage. engine runs sweet off the kickstart. problem. burning oit front headlight and side light bulb as soon as i rev and go. now all indicators work. rear light and brake light work. Now for the dash. no led backlight for the speedo or other side. and theres an lcd display in the centre bottom and this is dead also. oillight works. indicator light on dash works. So only front bulbs are blowing. its startin lerfectly fine from cold on the kickstart so obvs battery is charging and holding. hkw do i check my regulTor/rectifier? Or do i need to get a new one or cn i re use this one just re wire it? As all other things are working? Im no expert so advice would be greatly appreciated
