I was wondering.... so many scooters are sold with only a few hundred miles on them......so who here has the highest mileage scooter??
Has anyone got a scooter with over 10,000 miles on it?
Who has the Highest Mileage on the original engine and transmission?

Hello kudos: I put 11,5XX miles on my Linhai 300, but recently bought a new Majesty. My brother in-law has the Linhai, he is not a scootaholic like myself, but I know he will keep it running for many more miles. There was someone who new a guy that delivered news papers with over 20,000 miles.

I haven't had mine quite a year yet (November 6th) and I'm at 5600 miles. That's a 50cc run at WOT probably 90% of the time. Thats all original out of the crate, I have not installed a big bore kit yet with the new rings, piston, cylinder, etc.

My first scooter was a 1963 Allstate Compact, it had a 50cc two-stroke motor, when I sold it, it had 10,000 miles I put on it. I had it just over a year when I got a Honda 150 Dream, kept that a year and put 22,000 miles on it. Needless to say, I spend most of my time on those two two wheelers.

No, it was the 150 Dream, during that period, 64-67 they had the 150 and the 305 Dream, about 1966 they came out with the 160, but that was more of a true motorcycle it that it had a frame and dual carbs and chrome fenders. It was only slightly faster than the 150cc Dream. I bought another 150 Dream in 1968 that had been run off into saltwater down in Florida. I paid $100.00 for it and I was able to repair it with only some minor issues. I ended up selling it when I received orders to go to Vietnam. Wish I had kept it, it was a very sweet riding bike.

Heh... I don't get to ride as much as many of you... but I have 1600 miles on one engine on my scoot and 650 miles on the other. The original engine is/was fine... I just wanted to put an 80cc in it and went ahead and replaced the whole engine. So... yeah... no where near the high mileage some of you folks have had (or mentioned).

over 4100 miles in about 9 months. still have a fuel starvation problem but i believe that will be cured by putting in some heavier roller weights. might even go for an electric pump.
still have cracking intakes problems, i haven't quite figured out how to brace my carb.
my top end fell by about 15 MPH after i installed new rollers, might be too light, stretched belt, or a defective variator.
other than the above she runs like a champ.

I have owned several motorcycles with over 40,000 miles on them. My Roketa MC54-250B now has close to 14,000 miles on it.

My 58 Lambretta has a bit over 11,000mi. on the clock. But I ride a moped much more because of the convenience of them. Anytime I run into a cheap Spree needing love and care, it ends up being my favorite. And Spree's come and go fast. Adult's love 'em.

Hey Greg
Do as I do, Duct tape a piece of twig to the speedo. Judge your speed by how much it bends.
This has proven to be as accurate as the regular speedo.
Give it a try !!

Leo,
If fuel starvation is your problem, changing the weights won't help at all.
Fuel starvation is lack of gasoline.
I suspect that the cracking to the manifold my also be due to the engine running hot because of fuel starvation making the mixture over lean and creating excess heat.
Check the flow of gas from the tank and if that is good suspect an air leak around the carb.
Cracks in the manifold cause lean mix too.
Basically, every joint from the carb forward MUST be air tight.
Small engines are particularly prone to this.
