It seems i have been having a oil leak since i installed a big bore kit 300 miles ago.
The oil also gets on the exhaust pipe then burns
and gets stick to everything after condensing.
Making it difficult for me to find where its comming from.
I tried asking at autozone for that UV dye you put in the oil
but the people there at the time did not know what i was talking about.
Thought the question is would that dye behave the same
way as the oil burn and then stick everywhere? making it difficult
to find the leak again.
Should i just use a regular degreaser spray and paper towels to
remove the oil or is there a better way?
So i was thinking mabye i could cover the exhaust pipe with something
so less oil would get heated up and stick to everything so i will
hopefull be able to find the place the oil is leaking from.
Because now there is oil everywhere
Another option i was considering was to use the old cylinder head
to see if the new one is the problem.
Thought, could using a small head with a 59mm piston cause other problems?
I did try replacing the head covers gasket and it did not help.
I heard another possiblity is the starter, but the starter did not
seem as oily as the other parts.
I guess i could try adding some gasket sealer to the head cover.
I bought some diesel oil 15w40 since i noticed people mentioning
it in other threads, but i did not add it yet.
Would less oil burn from it?
I also checked the air filter box and it did not have an excessive amount of oil.
I am guessing that if there was a problem with the cylinders or piston it
would just burn the oil and send it throught the back of the exhaust
or there would not be enought pressure to run the motor.
When stopping during the night when riding, not only is there
a bad smell but i can see the smoke passing the front lights
of the scooter.
The engine still seems to be knocking but i have not upjet yet,
rather fix one problem at a time :/
But otherwise on the positive side my scooter seems to be doing
great, i got my rpm to go over the 7000 rpm it seemed to be stuck
at since replacing my variator.
After a while driving at 53mph my rpm starts to climb up and i got
to about 57+ mph i think (would need to check on gps).
But when i saw the rpm starting to climb up i did not try to push it
too much, i have been driving at 7k rpm for so long, not sure
how high its safe to get the rpm too, so i just let go of the trottle.
Other then not upjet i also did not make the air filter less restrictive yet,
so i guess i could still get a little more.
Well also not sure how fast in general it would be ok to take these scooter too.
Any opinons on the oil issue?
Thanks.
