A local guy is shutting down his scooter dealership. He has a new 300 cc scooter there and offered it for 2000.00. I'm assuming that if this bike is selling as a 300, it is probably a linhai type engine of 257cc. Could there be other possibilities? It is new. I think it can be bought for quite a bit less. I know there will be no dealer support if I buy it so it has to be a deal too good to pass up. I have done a few searches on this forum and tried to find info on the Wildfire brand. I couldn't firnd much, except one guy on the 125+ forum with horror stories about his Wilfire 150. Incidentally the dealer also has two of those. If I bought both of them for 1K would it be worth it? Any info any of you can give me will be useful in helping me to make a decision. I'm comparing it to a deal on a Jonway from Bikezedirect.com. Their current price is around 1250.00 for a 250, which I assume, is a Honda/CFMoto type scooter.

I never heard of a Chinese 300cc. Maybe a Linhai clone 257cc goosed to 275cc.

Interesting. Sure looks like a 244cc Bali ..... maybe they just rounded the cc's up.

It doesn't look like any Linhai I have ever seen.
The Linhai 400b is not available yet, I recently spoke to Sunright and hopefully this fall. It seem they must under go a lot of Gov. approval, and testing.... etc.

good looking...an MC-13-250 I believe...make 'em prove it's a 300cc, cause I don't believe it unless China has discovered a new species...so I say it's mine and Gary and Yarddog's scoot with some cool decals...meaning $2000 is way overpriced...it would be the first instance I've ever seen of a Linhai 257CC on a MC-13-250 chassis...

Out of curiosity I emailed TeeZee motorsports asking about the displacement. They replied saying it was 292cc's. Someone should buy one and check it out ... I can't, its not CARB certified.

hmmm...well, there's a few chinese ATV's out there with that engine, so they must be cross-breeding. I guess she'll be able to climb hills and take ya deer hunting...

Thanks for the information and discussion. The dealer in question who is shutting down is in Hillsboro, Ohio. That's close to where I live. From my reading of this forum over the past 9 or 10 months, I was under the impression that the only two chinese 250 class scooter powerplants were either the CFMoto 244 cc type or the Linhai 257cc type. I have read about the Aeoulous (SP?) 300 and the VOG 300, but I thought I understood that they were Linhai type powerplants with a small displacement increase. If my understanding is incorrect, I will be grateful for the correct information.
From what I have been able to read about the Wildfire brand, it is not a great choice. There is no offense intended to the Wildfire dealer who has posted on this thread. It is just what I have been reading. There have been a lot of bad reviews of their products and few good ones. I'm willing to be convinced otherwise. As the owner of a very small business (no connection to scooters, motorcycles or any motorized devices), I understand that customer relations are the most important thing about building a business. I don't want to make a poor decision. That's why I'm trying to learn all I can about scooters. I'm in no hurry to purchase. A scooter will be more for my wife than me. I currently ride a Harley Ultra Classic and it will be my main ride as long as I am able to move on two wheels. Even so, I am interested in scooters and I think I would find one fun to ride on shorter trips.
Again, thanks for the great information and discussion on this excellent forum.

I do have the Linhai 300, but the scooter shown in this tread, doesn't look like any Linhai I have ever seen. I have seen plenty of Linhai's and like them too.

That is SO not a Linhai Manufactured scooter. Linhai right now only has two styles of scooters, the classic 260CC (really a 257CC) and the 300CC (which is really a modified 257CC bored to 275CC). Right now, Linhai is the only one I'm aware of that is offering the 275CC engine in a scooter. It is THEIR engine and they manufacture it. Basically, when you hear folks say oh I Have a MC-54B Roketa scooter with the Linhai engine, it is a CLONE of a Linhai engine (which is itself a clone of a yamaha engine). However, it is NOT manufactured by the Linhai corporation, which manufactures both its own scooters, and engines. That looks like Gary's Bali scooter or something. I would NOT believe anything you read on a website, I just don't believe that is a 300CC scooter. Sorry. Show me hard solid proof then I will believe it. As far as I know, Linhai doesn't supply engines to any other scooter producers. Scooter producers however, copy the Linhai scooter engine design. This is a Linhai 300 scooter, with an actual engine displacement of 275CC. Linhai Classic 260 (257CC scooter)

Librarian, I also ride my motorcycle most of the times, but there is nothing as convenient as jumping on my Linhai Mainstreet 300 for the run to the store. Mine looks almost like cstephens pictures. It's has been 100 percent reliable and had no maintenence issues except for scooterollies advice of changing out all of the fluids. If you buy a scooter, and want Chinese, get the actual Linhai 300, not the clones.

A nice used Majesty would be better. I haven't decided to spend the money yet. As you say, the convenience of it would be a big plus. I'm still looking around. I did find a used Majesty on Craigslist for a little under 4K. I think it might be bought for quite a bit less. These days, there aren't a lot of people with disposable cash looking for toys to play with. If a great deal on a chnese bike turns up, then I'll go that route. If I find a great deal on a Yamaha or a Honda, then I might do that too. I'm willing to be patient and see what turns up over the summer. In the meantime, I will continue to learn on this excellent forum from those of you who know so much more than I do about scooters.

i'm suprised it took this long for someone to stick the Linhai clone engine in anything other than a Reflex or Burgman clone. A Bali with a 275cc engine and 12" wheels front and back seems like it would be pretty nice.
on a side note, Diamo Touristas are basically rebadged Linhai's and use the "real" Linhai engine.

Can it be licensed and driven in the US without CARB certification??? CARB Certification is just some Crap the state of California has to go through. When a person says they can not buy a scooter because it's not CARB certified, they mean they live in the state of California and therefore can't register it there. Any other state should be just fine though. It's weird, but my dad just bought a brand new Sears Craftsman 24HP lawn tractor. On the back, it has a sticker that says "This product not for sale in the state of California. Do not ship this to a retail location in California."

I was just looking at the Jonway website and it seems they also mfg a 300cc scooter. I haven't seen any and don't even know if they will import them to the USA. They also give a little more info on their 500cc scooter. It would seem that 300cc +/- scooters will be here in force in the near future.

Librarian, I think you are on the right track. I believe the Majesty is a great choice. The Mainstreet 300 that I have looks a lot like a Majesty from the front faring back. The glove boxes and seat shape and operation are almost identical. But I like the larger wheels and tires that the Majesty has better and the close by dealer network. I found a 2006 Majesty near my home a few months after I bought my Linhai, (person wanted to sale it to go back to school) but I had already bought so I passed up the offer. Good luck in your search. You will love the ease of driving through town and the underseat storage. I also have a security alarm on mine and it makes it safer I think when shopping.
