What are you trying to weld it with?

I have done this mod but wonder if there is a way to decrease the volume a bit...would the tip help? Maybe some fiberglass packing? Also instead of mounting a bracket I bolted and jb welded some eye hooks to the top of the muffler and the frame above and connected them with a spring. The theory is that the spring absorbs some of the vibrations and movement of the unbraced exhaust.

With this mod is there any need for rejetting? One of my scoots has a muffler with loose/rattling baffles and I'm thinking of hacking it off and putting one of these mower mufflers on. I've done no other performance mods to the scoot. It's a TNG Milano 150. I don't know if I'm up for rejetting or anything right now because it's getting close to the end of the scooting season here and I don't have a ton of free time to tinker (other than putting on the new muffler, of course). Has anyone done this type of muffler change-out on an otherwise stock scoot?

I hit my local harley shop and ask if they had any stock pipes they would sell me and they had a pile out back and they gave me a real nice screamin eagle stock pipe and it sounds sweat. The best part was it was FREE.I tryed the briggs muffler and it still sounded like a lawn mower.

wow, I'm really shocked this is a 'normal' thing now. I was using the B&S mufflers in the early '00 s, just effing around to see how it'd sound. Too bad I wasnt on a forum then or I could have gotten some street cred LOL Ive got a video I'll post of my 50 with one installed..its sooo loud

glenargo- Did you ever figure out your deceleration backfire issue? Or anyone else who's done this? I'm having a somewhat related problem on another thread, where changing to a b&s muffler happened along the course of another issue. scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=talk&thread=32233&page=1So if anyone's dealt with and solved a backfiring issue after changing to the lawnmower muffler, I'd love to know about it.

I've been runnign this mod for about 3 months now, and it works great. I drill out the plate inside for more flow and it works/sounds great, no decel/backfire problems.

I just did this mod to my Roketa MC-109-50. It actually sounds frickin shweet with it on. I have the same coupling and everything and I took it off to see what it sounded like and I got .2 miles down the road and acquired a migraine. IT WAS LOUD!!! This muffler is not annoyingly loud but decently audible. I am using the stock jet and I dont have a lean issue. I need to add on a better air filter because it is actually running rich still. I do not have a back firing issue but I want to get rid of that little device thats attached to the pipe and that may cause a back fire. It would be even sicker to sound the muffler right by the engine for that Ninja 650R/ER-6/Versys type look.

Out of circumstances of my making I ended up doing this too. Just for effect, I also added a lighted exhaust tip ($10 at Mardens). It sounds rich (if not a bit too loud), looks good, though not as professional as you guys with fabricating equipment, and the tip keeps the muffler area cool to the touch. I'll see if I can get pics later.
I did have some backfiring issues. I temporarily unplugged the autochoke and am awaiting a jet set. Now I just have the backfire on decel issue. Other bike boards suggest this is the result of air leak from the exhaust pipe prior to the muffler (bad manifold gasket?).

Mock-up Installed Night View If anyone is interested, I hooked up the lighting by tapping the autochoke lead. It's LED lighting, so only half the wave is used. I don't predict any major problems with this, even after I'm rejetted and the auto-choke is plugged back in. Wide View Yeah, it needs a bath.

That's the right muffler. I don't know what jet yet, I have to wait for a new manifold to come in (if it's not one thing, it's another, right?).
--- Edit: I landed on an 86 main jet. I'm still using a stock airbox w/ thin filter.

I just built three of these for for mytwo 50s as well as my friends 50 and I spent $8 per bike. Far better than 150 or more any day. My neighbors know when I'm coming home now.

Anyone got a good video of these working?
Tried the video link from jonathan150cc,but it cuts out 5 seconds into playing and resets.
Wanted to know how it would sound on a 50cc 4 stroke, 'cause I need something quieter than the strait pipes but don't like the huge 4" cannister muffler they installed on the scooter.
Thanks
