I can't get behind $3000 or more for a 110cc scooter when the Zuma 125, People 150 and Super 8 are far cheaper and give you more speed and value. OK, the Honda will probably be around forever but who says the Kymcos and Yamaha won't be too. We have to see what the market says in terms of sales, but a Honda dealer who sells Kymco too is going to see his sales rise on Taiwan scoots as far as I'm concerned.

Honda just announced the price of the new Elite 110! Are you ready? How about $2999.00?!! That is exactly same as a 2009 Yamaha Zuma 125 and its air cooled. The Honda sounds pretty good to me!

A tad on the high side, but better than expected. At $3,000 These are more likely to sell well, especially if they can perform as well or better than their competitors.
My Local Honda dealer claims the SH-150 will do 70 without skipping a beat...not sure I believe that, but if that's so, I'd be unsurprised to see 55-60 out of the Elite 110. Of course, if they are talking about 70 on the speedo vs a true 70mph, that's a whole different ball game.
Heh, my People 150 says it's doing 70 when it's really doing 61.

$2900 is still to much money for a 110cc scooter. If it does do an honest 55 mph, ok it's a solid substitute for some scooters in an Urban setting. Heaven knows I saw enough Vespas in Brooklyn last week. But as they say, How will it play in Peoria? Honkerman can do a little more than that 55 mph on his low budget Kymco, somebody on a Super 8 about the same as him. Kliff tells me he can cruise all day at 52, and he's a big guy, on his $999 special. Will you keep the Honda long enough to pay you back? Will anybody? Panache and engineering aside, I don't see it. They're competing in a market with lower priced, reliable (Kymco, SYM, Adly, Eton, Flyscooter, TNG...) scooters and pretending they don't exist. It's going to bite them in the sales butt

It's going to bite them in the sales butt Honda could care less about the Chinese Air Cooled market. They are targeting Vespa. The SH-150i hammered Vespa in their own back yard, Italy. A 110cc water cooled engine is going to produce as much horsepower as a 150cc air cooled engine. So it will compete reasonably well against the Kymco People and the Sym Fiddle from a performance and price point. People will pay a couple of hundred extra for a name they know...and most people never heard of Sym or Kymco.

Dealers in the east are discounting them to 12499, and probably less. Just too high a cost for for a 680, that is basically a scooter. I agree the price is insane but it's not "basically a scooter" The full size wheels. The mid engine placement. The open body work ( not step through) Open engine, no storage. All key aspect designs of a motorcycle. I don't know where this fits in though. It does not have the storage to be a tourer. Too small to be a racer and a bit big to be a run around towner. I do think this probably represents the future where the terms motorcycle and scooter become not only blurred but eliminated.

"Honda could care less about the Chinese Air Cooled market. They are targeting Vespa. The SH-150i hammered Vespa in their own back yard, Italy."
People who buy Vespas would rather be nailed to an olive tree than buy something else in this Country. They don't even like Piaggios.
So Honda has to raid people who now own Kymcos and other Taiwan scooters and want to move up or people like us on China scoots. But in the meantime there are CF Moto Glories coming on that can be a real bargain and have the tech specs to hold their own. People who own and buy scooters in this Country are pretty well aware of options. Honda might snag the few who say, "Hmm, I want a scooter for the first time. I know.... a Honda!" but how many are there? About as many that will walk into the Big Guy's shop and say, "Is that Flyscooter any good?" I know I sound like a nut, but I think organized brands like CF Moto, Flyscooter, TNG and any other I didn't mention is going to start making inroads and Honda is going to have to deal with them, not Vespa.

A friend has a Honda Elite 80cc, which her husband bought for her over a year ago. When I started up my Lance in front of her, she said, "OMG! Mine never starts up without a struggle." She won't ride it because it stalls w/o warning and won't restart! Not all Hondas are heavenly!

The 49cc ruckus is a 2 stroke, the 110 is a 4 stroke. Big Difference. Nice scoot, price is right, for a honda. I think people forget that honda's last forever. The hondas from the 80's are still running today. Honda 150cc, 279 lb., 15 HP, top speed 55 MPH with EFI?...for 4500$? Is this a joke?..oh.I forgot that it has a T at the end. SH150iT. And this one has 108cc with EFI..so what's the top speed?..45MPH? for how much?..may be 4000$? Anhoa Damn, you've gotta be joking my 49cc Ruckus will go 45 mph! I wouldn't be suprised if the Elite 110 goes 55mph maybe 60. As far as the SH150i I bet it'll do 65mph maybe 70.

Yeah, Hondas last forvever, but where are all of those Honda Elites and Aeros from the eighties? Not anywhere that I can see. They wear out and people toss them the same way people toss the motorcycles. How is that any different from China scoots? It isn't like they get rebuilt like Harleys. If China scoots and their cheap parts become like VW Beetles, there could be 2008 Eagles around in 2025 also.

Honda doesn't even make 2 stroke dirtbikes anymore.

The restrictions for 2-stroke scooters are anything over 180ccs, so yes, there are now and still will be 2-stroke scooters in the 50-150cc range available for 2010 and beyond. -Rich All fine & good. But we can't own what they will not import. Harley or Victory sure as hell ain't gonna give us one. I'd love to find an EFI'd 2stroker made to run with the likes of the Dragster and the Runner. Buuuuutttt...... Noone with merely a checkbook is ever gonna own one, unless we goto the UK and smuggle one over in pieces packed up in coffee crates.
