Hello, I have a mc--54-250 that we bought last year for my wife to ride to work. She loves it, put 1500 miles on it last year. But now that it's time to get it going again, the battery doesn't want to hold a charge. I'm having trouble finding a replacement locally. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks, muley.

if you have a Wal-mart, near you, the MAXX AGM power sports battery that they sell is a direct drop in and a very good battery.
I believe the 9BS battery is the correct size. (without going out and looking at mine)

Welcome muley,
What part of the country are you from? I believe your battery is a 12V/9AH battery which should be easy to find. What is the part number on the battery and what are the physical measurements? I always do the measurements in case I find a battery with an unfamiliar part number. You should also measure the size of the battery compartment. You might be able to upgrade to a slightly larger battery. In my part of the woods, Interstate battery is where I can usually find motorsport batteries. Motorsport encompasses motorcycles, ATVS, snowmobiles, jet skis, scooters, etc. Any place that sells these units may also carry your battery. Another place is Sears. If you try the service center, they can sometimes cross reference to a proper replacement. I found my 12V/7AH battery (upgraded to 8AH) at Walmart. The price is right, but some people have had mixed results with the battery.

Thx for the replies. It is a 12v 9ah unit and thought it would be easy to replace. But when I went to the Walmart and the local farm/fleet store nothng they had was the same size. Either much smaller or taller than the original. Went to a Partsplus store this am, they just laughed and told me to try Batteriesplus. So I was beginning to think that it was a special size or something. I'll check the battery box and see just how much room there is in there It's getting warmer here in eastern Iowa and my wife keeps asking when she can scoot again. Really enjoy this site, learning as we go. thx, muley

I have Yuasa batteries in both my scoots. Maybe not the cheapest, but they have lasted really welland start every time, even after a long period of sitting. Gary

If your local WM doesn't/didn't have it, try another. Around here, different WM's carry different items (annoying but true). This is especially the case when you have one WM that has an auto center and another that doesn't. Try calling another one around you that has an auto center, if possible, and ask for that model battery.
