Fellow Dawgs, I don't have much info on this and am not sure if anyone has already started a thread for the new 500cc scooter from Jonway... but thought I'd mention it at least. I've only heard a little about it but rescued some pics and specs from their website if you want to take a 'glance'... www.bandit-motorsports.com/scooters/gts500-500cc-scooter.htmlJust an FYI that there's somethin else comin... Thanks, Jim. I am going to get one of those when they are available. Hope they make it in Burgundy. I have a Jonway YY250T which I love.

Jim; These are the 3 primary scoots I'm watching myself while I save enough money to buy. The spec's at your site are confusing, though. The HP rating for the 500 is identical as the GTX400. Also, is it right that the Linhai is the heaviest of the three with the shortest wheelbase and overall length and smallest engine? Only the Linhai mentions EFI. Does that imply that the other two are carb's? How does it look for arrival times for the three? You state late 2009 for the Jonway. To me, these are definitely the most interesting product coming. Thanks for the info.

crfcom,
Well, my main goal was just to make everyone aware that a 500cc class scooter was coming from China - I'm not sure of most of the specs on the thing. I don't even know if the specs on the FYM 400 or Linhai 400 are accurate either. I wouldn't bet on them given how early in the development this is.
I looked at the Jonway website to get the power rating on the 500cc powerplant and it indicated 16.0 kw or about 21.4 HP - which makes no sense at all. I dug around for info on the Yamaha Tmax 500 Hp ratings and it seems to be at about 38 hp - but that's with 4-valves and EFI. I'm speculating that the Jonway 500cc engine is a clone of the Yamaha Tmax powerplant given they are both parallel twins and 499cc displacement. EFI and 4-valves would make the Jonway comparable in power...
Later, Jim J...

Not complaining. Appreciate any info I can get, and appreciate what you're trying to do. I'm not in a hurry anyway. Still got to save a few more bucks. Had to pick right now, It might be the Q-Link 400. But that Jonway is a beauty.
Keep us posted, and, thanks.

Hi all. I just got off the phone with Jay from Bestdeal Motorsports, and he just came back from the Jonway company. This new 500cc scoot has not even been type accepted as of yet. However he believes it will possibly be available in the USA by the last part of 2009. I told him I want one when they come in. As I get more info, I will post it for you all. Also, Jay has the Gates Powerlink 918 22.5 belts in stock if anyone needs one. That's what is in my Jonway YY250T MC-54 scooter with the 13 inch wheels.. Joe

This is the kinda info I like to see on china scoots. its kinda funny though, the MC-54B is a Honda Reflex look-a-like with a Yamaha Majesty engine, and the new GT500 looks like it will be a Silverwing with a Tmax motor...

Will be keeping an eye on this one when it arrives. Sounds like peope are interested in it. Got some good points, $1000 less than the Majesty/Burgy 400/Exciting 500 scooters per the posted price up now. How it compares to those scooters will be the key, whether the money saved over buying them for this is worth it.

Funny the title on the site says: GTS-500 Sport 393cc motor scooter And I was thinking the same thing, looks like a silverwing (which is a nice looking ride) Way out of my price range though, for now
