maxximtl You could have torn into a ZNEN for twice the price, and found the same thing, rust, stripped bolts, bent stuff...it a <$1000.00 scooter, not a BMW. The more you let it aggravate you, the worse it will be.
Dishe read my post to arwen
If you 2 guys had half the patience, and 1/10th the manners, as arwen, your problems could have probably been solved much easier...
arwen Way to go arwen! Chin up, and do that PDI. The Jonway will make you as fine of scooter as the EAGLE, and with John and the folks at GSMW backing it up, you hit a win win situation. No EAGLE name, but a tach, trunk, and a lower price. Go girl! Lately most pilot screws have been very lean, to TOO lean, on all the China scoots I'm seeing. Tell hubby to screw it in till it seats, gently-don't over tighten, then back it out 2 turns. Once fuel hits the carb, they'll light right off. Let it run a while, put a few miles on it, then adjust to a smooth idle when warm. Hubby has probably been there done that, so it shouldn't be a problem. The last 2 scoots I put MANUAL petcocks on, could not pass enough fuel through the carb, until I adjusted the pilot, to even start. Sounds like y'all got a handle on it though....enjoy.

Hello all, I recently ordered TWO Carino 150 scooters from GSMW. One for me and one for my wife. I wanted to get two of the same scooters so I could have part interchangeabilty between them and also so I would not have to learn two new scooters and their differences. I didn't even think about how we would fit on them. Well, when they came I opened one, took it out of the crate and, got the front wheel on and tried it on. I was a little suprised at how tall it was and how I could just barely keep both feet flat on the ground at 5'-11". I immediately sensed that there would be an issue with my wife fitting on hers and so I had her try it on. It wasn't even close, she couldn't even touch the ground with her tippie toes if I held the scooter vertically. She didn't feel comfortable on it at all as it seemed way to big for her to handle. I had hers still in the crate right next to mine. I began to worry about how I was going to get this straightened out. I called John and he assisted me in picking out another scooter with a lower seat height and one that my wife liked the looks of. We came up with a Capri 150 which has a seat height 4 inches lower than my Carino. The seat height on the Carino is 32 1/2" and the Capri is 28 1/2" roughly which made a HUGE difference. They had one in the same color as my Carino which I liked to much to change now and decided to settle for having two different scooters. John arranged for the exchange of her scooter and in under a week it showed up. I am very thankful that GSMW helped me fix my screw-up and saved my bacon. She fits on her new Eagle Capri 150 nicely and is way more confident that she will be able to handle it. The chrome trim on the front is a little different than the pictures on their web site but at least it showed up and without any damage to boot. Now I have TWO PDI's to complete so we can get riding. We are both new to scooting and are going to go to a class to get our licenses upgraded next weekend. I haven't had time yet to even touch either one except for getting them on two wheels and gathering everything required for the PDI's. I will start this weekend though as I hope to have them ready for when we finish our class. Here they are together. Charles

Given the amount of shipping damage and the fact that my scoot doesn't have a tach (they promised it would,) John and I are reconsidering what the plan is. My issues are not in any way related to patience, mechanical skill or user error. The scoot is quite simply a POS. I won't accept widespread rust on the frame of a $900 or $2000 scoot. Especially in light of the other problems it has. John is aware that they didn't sell me the scooter they promised and he is doing what he can to rectify the situation. I'll know more tomorrow on what the future of this scooter is.

Dishe read my post to arwen Hmm... I'm not sure I see what post you're referring to, but basically its about the air mixture screw? That seems to be the magic answer lately. I'll let y'all know how it goes when I have a chance to try it tomorrow (today? don't even know what time it is anymore...) EDIT: wait, did you mean the post above that followed when you wrote that? Gah, I'm all confused. Meanwhile, I gotta say I'm excited to get this this running- if you guys haven't seen it in yellow/black, you really should (will post pictures when the friggin sun comes out for a change!)... it looks like a wasp/hornet. Maxximtl, sorry to hear yours isn't panning out well. Honestly, if adjusting the carb is all it takes to make this run properly, I'm more than happy with my purchase!

I call 'em like I see 'em, and seldom sugar coat the facts. And I am ON TOPIC with my answers to each poster. You said you orderred an EAGLE because of what you had read that I had posted...swell. Maybe you should have talked to John, and listenned closely...you could have had the tach, on a JONWAY. You must have emphasized EAGLE, more than tach. Assembly frustrations, oten grow to shipping damage, if that is the case JOHN will take care of it. He never questions anything I tell him is damaged, or defective. He just ships it out. But John is a smart man, and if in doubt, I'm glad to see him require pics. So make your PM to Aaron, file your complaint, and get me banned. I doubt that will help either your scooter problems, or anyone elses on this site, that might want my insight. Normally I stay out of kliff's little fracases but you sir stretch my limit. Your arrogance has just oozed ever since you've shown up. I think your avatar says more about you than anything else. You talk about damage without quantifying it, you talk about rust without describing where. You say you can't seat a bearing, but say you're mechanically competent. Do we have to run you through bearing removal and replacement? No ever since you've come on board in June you've grumbled everywhere. Now the scooter is here and you can really go to Town.
Want to complain to Aaron about me? I'm the former newspaper reporter and writer of editorials. We can argue together and see who puts up the better argument!

kliff forgot more about scoots than you ever will know. so kliff doesn't sugar coat it neither do i but his info is correct. when he goes there will be people that go with him and all of a sudden you won't have a running scoot in the bunch imo. try it maybe your the next go to guy but i highly doubt it.

My issues are not in any way related to patience, mechanical skill or user error. The scoot is quite simply a POS. I won't accept widespread rust on the frame of a $900 or $2000 scoot. Especially in light of the other problems it has. On my Honda shipping was $680, Dealer Prep(3 hours of shop time) was $270, the 600 mile service(2 hours of shop time) was $180 plus filter and fluids. Of course I didn't have to deal with any shipping damage..or any minor factory defects....I just paid the Honda dealer a bit more then $1000 to deal with that stuff for me.

I've been on this board a short while. What you don't see is the 10 years of Car forum experience I have on other boards. I've been doing this as long, if not longer than any of you guys. Nope, I'm not 56 years old like Kliff, but I do have 15 years of experience working on cars and motorcycles. I've owned 14 cars and 5 motorcycles. I have worked at motorcycle and car dealerships, and I have very clear expectations of what I should be getting when I purchase a new vehicle. In short, a member's post count is in no way correlated to what they know.
Kliff has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I don't have anything against the guy personally, but he needs to understand that trying to be an e-thug isn't going to get him anywhere. He is fully capable of being a great resource, but it'll only happen once he stops blaming people for being less mechanically inclined than he is.
The purpose of this forum is to give buyer experiences...both good and BAD! Kliff isn't willing to hear anything bad about GSM. I'm sorry man, but my Bashan Eagle 150 is a POS. Future buyers deserve to know that. They also deserve to know that John is probably the most stand-up guy in the industry...which I have also emphasized.
My problems will get resolved. I have a butt-load of aftermarket parts sitting in my living room waiting to be installed. I will have a kick-ass Tracer, but its gonna take some time to make that happen. I will keep posting about my experience and Kliff will have to decide how to deal with that.

"I'm sorry man, but my Bashan Eagle 150 is a POS."
For somebody who's worked in car and bike shops for 15 years you seem to throw that expression around quite freely. In my years of working with Triumphs, Nortons, BSAs, I might have called them misguided, but not POS. Of course I guess I didn't work with BMW cars and motorcycles like you. Or were you working on Bentleys? No things were different in the 60s when I started working with my Dad. We improvised and made things worked and actually used paint on rusting frames. So different from todays bolt and unbolt mechanics.

I will PDI a new scooter. That is normal. I will not disassemble it to recoat the frame. That is not normal. I came into this expecting and willing to do work...and I planned ahead for the common problems. My PDI is everything Kliff's was and more. My problems were not typical and John recognized that.....even if you guys don't.
I spoke with John again today and GSM is doing the right thing. As I've stated before, John is the man.....and will set aside all the BS to deal with the problem at hand. Everything will be peachy-keen real soon.

Reminds me of the old Candian Red Green show. Red's advice was very basic. The two primary tools every good mechanic should have are duct tape and WD 40. If it moves and it shouldnt, use the duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD 40.

Guys, in Maxx's defense, the dude is just upset because he didn't get what he ordered. Perhaps there are additional problems with his particular model- lemons DO happen, and GSMW doesn't have any way to prevent that (especially since they don't see the product before it is shipped to you).
However I think the reason he is speaking so harshly about it is because they DID screw up and send him the wrong model, on top of everything else. GSMW is not immune to mistakes any more than any other company. Are their products higher quality? I'm not certain of that. But its how they handle situations like this one that makes them different, and I, for one, am very curious to see where this goes from here. I'd put money on John coming through and Maxx being a happy Eagle scoot driver soon!

But I will agree with Maxx, post count, and senirity on the board means nothng...ohhhh wait a minute....that would mean his 10 years board experience somewhere else, doesn't mean anything either....dammit man....shot your own self in the foot tere Maxx. I'm still so impressed with those 15 carss though....I quit counting when it went over a hundred or so... and 5 bikes, that was a high number for me too, I owned my first 5(at the same time) in '03, Scooters and bikes, I got 8 right now.... since '67 probably 80, 90, maybe a hundred that I've owned....raced and ridden, who knows.....worked on? Jeeeez....with numbers like this piling up, WHO CARES? And Maxx, your reference to how many owned, was suposed to reflect positively, on what....experience? I guess I got that coverred. The thing is, a lot of my experience was before the day of "plug and Play," before the day of check it on the net, and have the part in 2 days. A lot of mine is when we had to use our heads, common sense, and mechanical apptitude to fix, or fabricate parts, modify parts, and have an excellent understanding of what we were doing... So you keep saying your Bashan EAGLE is a POS. I don't think you'd know POS if it landed on you nose.

kliff, I am doing the PDI on my Bashan Eagle Capri 150 and the master cylinder appears to be empty and the RH brake lever doesn't offer any resistance when squeezed. The LH brake lever seems to operate normally. I went and got some DOT 4 brake fluid and a brake bleeding kit from Harbor Freight. I am going to attempt to fill and bleed the brake system tonight and was wondering if you have any tips/hints on doing this. I replaced: fuel lines & clamps vacuum lines & clamps fuel filter spark plug engine oil gear oil Then I charged the battery, adjusted the valves to .oo35, added fuel to the carb & tank, adjusted the idle mixture screw in to stop then back out 2 1/4 turns, applied dielectric grease to all electric connections, added Lock Tite to exhaust bolts, front axle, other bolts I'd removed and silicone to screws as I put back together. It started right up no problem so I adjusted the idle mixture then set the idle speed to just below where the rear tire rotates. I took her for a spin around the block and couldn't be happier. I figured the rear brakes would be good enough for around the block. But now I want to tie up the loose ends and make it totally ready to ride. I have never touched a scooter before in my life but it is proving to be a lot of fun. I haven't dealt with bleeding brakes much at all in my life and what little I did fumble through I can't really remember so I just have the instructions that came with my cheap little bleeder kit I got. Thanks for any input. Charles

Did you try just filling the master cylinder and see if it improved? Otherwise you have to go with filling the Master cylinder, opening the bleeder and getting out all the air. If the cylinder was empty maybe any air is near the top and just filling it and squeezing it a few times will get the air to rise out without chasing it through the system.

kz,
No I haven't opened the master cylinder yet but it also doesn't look like there is anything in the sight glass either. It sure appears as if it is empty but I won't know for sure until I open it up later tonight. If I open it and it is indeed empty I am going to try filling and bleeding it right then and there and I was just looking for any tips on that as I failed to find anything about how to do this procedure using the search function.

You got me curious Charles. I went out and looked at mine and sure enough, the bleeder is on the top piston of the dual piston caliper. It will chase air through the bottom piston and up the top.

Thanks for any input. Charles GREAT looking set of specs you've set up for your PDI. Always good to see 'em gone over like that the first time. Blleding brakes, especially with a small vacu pump, from the bleeder on the caliper isn't hard, but 2 people are advised. That way one can monitor, and keep the resevoir up top full, while the guy doing the pumping can maintain a good vacume. Sometimes the break bleader fitting can be a little "fiddly" and require some gentle tweaking with one hand, while pumping with the other. Worst thing in the worls is to shoot yourself in the foot, by pumping the resevoiur dry.....back to square 1. Hence, the helper, with the brake fluid up top. Lemme know if this helps, or not, we'll figure something else out..LOL! After the recent debacles, I'm kinda taking a "powder," not showing up as much, not stirring the pot, but if I can be of help, PM me, and if need be, I'll even shoot you my phone number, and you can carry me out to the garage on your cell or portable.

Hey guys- Just wanted to update you on my scooter purchase after the initial bump I had with the carb. She's running great, taking it lightly at first (the rain here hasn't helped... sheesh, what's with the weather lately?!) put 50 miles on her so far, planning on doing a fluid dump before I hit the first hundred to let out all the bits of metal from manufacturing. Haven't decided if I like the trunk yet (didn't order one, but apparently came with the model), so I didn't put it on. Here's a quick pic I shot with my phone before the maiden voyage: I want to thank you guys for the recommendation, and giving me the opportunity to trust total strangers' opinion of a company I'd never heard of! Also, kz1000, I appreciate your patience with me, and Kliff- you're a tough cookie to crumble, but I'd like to shout out a thanks to you despite you keeping me on block. Enjoy your rides, see ya around the forum.

Kinda makes me think I doing the wrong thing by prepping scooters before I ship them, I did GSMW tech for years because they had no shop,I drop shipped everything till 2006, how do you sell vehicles for road use with no shop, its illegal where I live, customer should not have to guess if it will work, the only scoots that I am even allowed to drop ship are Jonway, CF Moto, TGB, Keeway, Fly all do not allow drop ship
Please tell people Sunl and ATVD are going out of biz, these guys have just about put me out of biz along with scooter depot, so getting a scooter in a few days if you want to work on it for the rest of the life of the scooters, think about it, I see scoots everyday that are a month old and failing a part, buy quality from someone that will be there
Just an insight, there are so many going down including Vento its crazy. if we just drop shipped scooters I would have no problem but in order for my dream to come to life and get quality bikes I had to get a shop in 2006, I can not get Uni or EMGO, Mikuni, Keihen, NGK,Gates and a whole list of others without a shop, they do not sell to people working from home
If anyone ever wants a scooter drop shipped from me call me.

Talk about going OFF TOPIC! You're sounding scared Mike.... GSMW putting out some good scoots, Knoledgeable and available tech support....
Yup, there's a new kid in town Mike, EAGLE, sold by GSMW. Here I was starting to have hope for you, after a post was made by ThunderTommie, in your behalf.... Then you start raiding other reveiws pimping your wares....LOL. Better tighten up the belt Mike. Satisfied customers are gonna put EAGLE and GSMW over the top. There's even more in the works, I can't currently release... but look for big things from EAGLE, the next couple of years could see a lot of folks going down, while the creme rises to the top.
As for SUNL and ATVD....looks like a larger Market Share on the horizon for GSMW / EAGLE.... hmmmmm, imagine that?

The Eagle is a Jonway 150 period or Xinguye or chinese something, nothing new
where is your shop, how many years have you been in the scooter industry, not before 2003 because there was none from china except Qugnigi and Jonway had a few, these two still make everything, Quigni makes the engines and Jonway body panels everything else is sourced

My shop, is at my dad's house, we built it 30 years back. I'm not a dealer, nor would I consider putting a dealership in that building.... so your question has what relevance?
YOU started the performance GY6 craze....OK, it was in full song when I came in the door, with parts from the orient, Europe, severral US dealers..... so I owe you what, uhhhh, "high performance starters fees?" Get real Mike, even if you did start the "craze," is that just in the US....you imported parts from where it was started elsewhere, or you're taking credit for GLOBAL performance accessorizing the GY6? You must hold a bunch of patents....which ones?
Times change Mike. Eagle has too....you just haven't been there to see it. Maybe they're not using those suppliers anymore.... seems I heard of one model EAGLE branded as a ZNEN assembly lately...things change Mike.
Shipped from a warehouse, never seen....wellll, yeah, that's the way it's done, that's why a proper PDI is so important.
I'm a joke, OK, if you say so, but we'll see who laughs last. I must say, there is such an aura of fear in your demeanor. The EAGLE sales from a thread like this must really be hurting. And the potential for just the ATVD business to swing over to EAGLE, is undoubtedly disturbing.
As for people talking about you, like I told Tommy, you are your own worst enemy on the net. You should let someone like Tommy handle the PR.... these last 2 posts alone, you come across, as so NOT a businessman.....such a shame.
As for being scared for me....riding a "bottom of the barrel scooter" and working on it, for the rest of it's life.... I, did the PDI, started riding, replaced a leaky shock, changed the oil, ride, change the oil, ride, change the oil..... I must be missing something here....oh yeah, I adjusted the valves, and ride.....2300 miles since about the 15th of Mar...those oil changes do come around quick, ZNEN's, Keeway, tgb's....they don't need oil changes, or are they automatic, you just add to it occssionally....LOL?
Even more reason to buy an EAGLE from GSMW.
PS...MIKE, I love the way you edit posts, from now on, I'll do a QUOTE response, so you can't change or delete what you initially say..... sorta like lettin' it all hang out. Just to keep it all above board you understand...

"I see scoots everyday that are a month old and failing a part, buy quality from someone that will be there"
I love that line. My scoot is almost a year old and except for the valve spring incident has run like a Swiss watch. Even at that I sent the head off to my East Coast Warranty Center and had it back in less than a week, better than ever. I did all the other repair myself.
I paid $1100 for it. Tell me what I can buy from a B & M that is comparable and won't cost me almost $700 or more OTD. A TNG Milano is over twice as much as mine and doesn't look one ounce different.
I haven't seen one example of a reasonably priced China scooter out of a B & M yet. I appreciate expenses and everything it takes to run a dealership but if I can buy a good scooter online, prep and maintain it myself for HALF what a dealer charges you know what I'm going to do. GSMW has proved to me that they stand behind what they sell and I've had mine apart and seen what it has inside. I know good from bad and I have a good piece of equipment. Far from the poor quality you want everybody to think GSMW's scooters are.
