I just got my hands on one of these and I don't know much about 2 strokes. I was wondering if ya'll could tell me if this is a good motor or a junker, it's brand new. thought I was getting a 139QMB, dude wasn't sure and I didn't go look at it but got it for a good price so I grabbed it.

You'll curse the days that you thought 139QMB's were fun after you start messing with the 1E40QMB! 2 strokes are the way to go if you care about performance on a 49cc scoot IMO. The 1E40QMB is an air cooled 49cc 2 stroke, often referred to as Yamaha/Jog/Minarelli engines. There are tons of parts available for them. You can do some mild work with just a pipe or a high flow filter and re-jetting or move up to a 70cc big bore that can still be a great reliable street setup... or you can go crazy with full circle and/or stroker crankshafts, case work for clearance, bigger big bores (100cc+), carbon fiber reeds, big carbs, you name it. Of course there are tons of parts out there for tuning the transmission as well. If you need more specific information on something, let us know. Check out my 2 big threads ( Triton V 2.0 and Brent's...) if you wanna see some pics of these Minarelli motors inside and out.

Thanks 90, you where the one I was wanting to respond. I was checking out your threads today, I'm thinking about trying to find a old 2 stroke that's not running. Not sure yet, but thanks again.

No problem. Look around enough and you can probably find a good deal on an old scoot with engine or transmission problems. If not, you could always see what would be involved to swap it into your 4 stroke scoot. It would be really cool if you had some sort of moutning setup that would allow the use of a 39 or 40 engine. You could work on either one with no down time. ;D
