I don't like to generalize, but I think people on scooters are more in peace with themselves and the world around them, they don't care so much about appearance and care more about mileage, fun and the environment. Guys with machines above 750cc are either young inexperienced wannabe racers or short and ugly old farts compensating for their small dicks with the biggest possible bike they can put their masturbating hands on. Not that they need it - most of those on monster bikes barely control them in traffic and half of them (I BET ON THIS ONE) can't even lift their bikes if they drop on one side, which I find extremely funny. Of course, there are black and white sheep in both teams, but I really think that the best experienced riders go up to 500cc tops since super bike engine size is the border behind which you start to lose control over your machine in extreme situations. That's why you'll never see a 1600-1800cc stunt bike, for example. I think the only reason for oversized bikes to exist is that you can use them for really long trips with a girl behind you and most of the guys I see mod their mufflers so they can be as noisy as they can get and ride in the city only.. and always alone. Ivan I think size wise this is just about perfect. (besides, I love the vintage stuff.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp2kS53NwK4

I never ever had anything negative from a motorcycle rider when I was on my scooters. The catagory of vehicle that I noticed the real problems from was the full sized truck crowd. I had several run ins with this group.

I believe there's only hate, where you see it! I had many bikers raise their hands to me when I arrived to the scene with my 50cc scoot, or my 700W electric moped! One of them driving a 1600cc trike!
I always see other drivers, like to see other bikes on the road, and sometimes challenge other bikes of my own caliber to see which one is faster! It's fun, eventhough, a 50cc can't really keep up with many bikes. If not in acceleration, I try to stay with them on speed. Many roads are 40-45MPH, so driving 42-47MPH also earns their respect, if you could keep up with them for a few stoplights!
I've tailed a 250cc 'little goldwing' scooter for over 30 minutes, and finally the guy asks me if I had a 150cc scoot! I told him it's just a 50, and he was surprised. Ofcourse, you got to have something to be proud of on your bike, so I understand some bikes are more powerful than mine, but mine gets 102+ MPG! Not many people can say that!
If I see road challenges, I see them as friendly, rather than offensive. Like a dog playing with another dog may seem to dog-leeks like they're fighting, but in reality they're just learning from each other.

I have gotten a lil flake from some on crotch rockets . Every single HD rider I encountered was super cool to me . Who would not be jolly riding some thunder ? I have had plenty of cagers flip out when I passed them along with them breaking their neck to pass me if I was speeding and still cuss at me . I understand if one was creeping up a hill and not yielding to allow cars to pass by . When on my 50 I keep up with traffic for the most part unless I am going up a mega hill and ride to the right edge of the lane and wave to those behind me to pass by so they do not ruin my fun with a hater on my tail . I had 2 (censored ) flash their lights like that would make me go faster .
I encountered a guy on a Honda Rebel 250 that he wacked off most of the exhaust pipes and ran like crap . He wanted to race me on my Echarm and I dusted him to the next red light and he asked to me to pull over to ta ask WTF scooter I had . In his defense his motorcycle was way out of tune and I am guessing he was a green horn where I am a veteran rider .
I hate to admit this , but I have gotten a few laughs by zooming past a slow scooter but never tried to wreck them or yell out any hate .
Almost all scooter riders I encountered were friendly , but I met more rude riders on scooters than on motorcycles .
In SC is it legal for two motorcycles to ride side by side in a lane . I have done so with people I know and trust but it is too risky as I have had many almost disasters . I have had strangers on motorcycles pull up beside me and made me nervous as I do not know their skills or sobriety and slow down so they go away

ok its obvious what your doing wrong... when you pass them its a biker thing in america to puff out your chest and have one hand on your knee. when you pass make sure one foot it sticking out straight ahead. its like waving. And put your old lady on the back. If she's a looker, they'll stay behind.

I have seen some cagers get jealous since I have had many lady passengers with some being prettier than most women and the cagers and motorcycles speed up like a form of intimidation .
I try to get the pole position LOL or be in front at a red light in order to jack rabbit away when it turns green to have more of the road to myself instead of being among many cars . I had this one (censored ) yell at me for getting her spot . I led through a few lights and when we got to a long stretch she passed by me while cussing and giving me a one finger salute . Well Karma was with me as she blew a head gasket and tons of smoke came out from her hood . I caught up and smiled when I passed her

In my town I've not really had much trouble. During the summer there are many 2-wheelers out, usually HD or dual-sport. I've been riding a ninja 250 lately and others seemed more friendly to me on my scooter than the ninja.

Because most of the time ninja's are associated with corrupted youth.
A scooter (especially the deluxe models like the burgman clones), show some form of class and style, like being refined. Also the Vespa scoots are more your common man style. CBRs and race bikes usually are associated with people who can't drive, who're reckless, and who get killed before reaching the age of 24 on a motorcycle in an accident 'not their fault' and story told by a person who would say that 'he was such a good kid', and 'he did not deserve it'...
Typical news broadcasts...

Just because you have more H/P doesn't make you a better citizen. If I'm going the posted, or even a bit over, what gives ANYBODY the right to force me off the road? My cage will do 160, so therefore ANYBODY who can't, better stay off my road. Doesn't seem right when put that way does it?

The posted speed is the "limit" not the "average" you are supposed to go. But I did experience on several occasions both in South Carolina, were riders on 50cc's going half the speed limit on rural roads. I sold my first used scooter several years ago and the first person that wanted to buy it was an old guy who smelled of booze. He was with this Son in a truck and wanted a cheap scooter quick because he lost his license for dui. He bought the scooter and wanted to ride it the five miles home. This was a 50cc scooter and there was no good route for him to take going 30mph. Its his business so I waved good bye. I got a call about 5 minutes later that the scooter stalled. I drove to where he and the Son were. He flooded the crap out of it and in a minute I had it started. He decided he nolonger wanted it. So I loaded the scooter in my van and gave him his money back. I was glad.

i have no problems at all from other riders. i guess its because of my long red hair, my "female form' , especially if i have a halter top or tube top on and im a woman on 2 wheels. that gets alot of respect from other riders. plus like a lot of yinz, i blow everyone away, off the line, and unless they break the law by speeding, which they all do, lol, i can stay in front of em.

AND YES he did not deserve it he was a great kid and one of the safest bike riders i have ever ridden with.

I am so new to this its pitiful, so maybe I’m off,.
But I kind of think it’s like how cool your clothing is,. it’s not what you wear, but how you wear it,.
Biker respect,. it’s not what you ride,. But how you ride it,.
Obviously there are just dip-snits out there, and you will sooner or later bump into one or two,. But for me , so far, all the two wheeled motorists (regardless of what they classify there bike as) have been fairly respectful to me and my scoot. I’m sure that shifts with region though, Seattle’s pretty laid back.

BIGGER bike or truck makes up for the very small male appendage. then you have to admit, that at least 90% of then have very limited riding skills. Just because of lack of experience About the only thing they can do is pop wheelies, and speed. which any jerk with enough power can do that.. again im not saying all, but most

Just my 2 cents worth ... While there are no absolutes (all people are different ) I tend to agree with SB. At least here in the upstate of SC I have almost never crossed with another cruiser sport touring, or touring bike rider that did not give me friendly wave. Crotch rocket riders however generally act like jerks. They also seem to be looking to die young. Typical riding gear seems to be a t-shirt blowing half up their back (ok, it gets pretty hot here, I often take off the jacket to...), no helmet ( they have it hanging off the back side of the bike just to prove they are too cool to ware it), shorts, some times ( yes this is true )Flip-Flops. This is not really stereo typing, I have seen this more times than I can count. Most act like boy-racer want-to-be(s) racing from light to light. If I pass one going the same direction they invariably gun the throttle (sometimes pull a wheely) and try to shoot past me loudly as the can.
Again this is not ALL sport bike riders, but it seems to be the majority, or Maybe the jerks just stick in my memory more.
South Carolina has no helmet requirement, and the vast majority of motorcycle fatalities I here reported on the morning news are sport bike riders under 25 with no helmet.

" If I pass one going the same direction they invariably gun the throttle (sometimes pull a wheely) and try to shoot past me loudly as the can."
My last ride, I was at a stoplight, a guy on a CBRsomethin was coming out of the gas station behind me going vroom, vrooom, vrooom, vrooom, vrooom. I was impressed by the sound but tried not to show it. So I started revving my 65cc's of total mayhem back at him. The light turned I laughed and pulled away. Mr CBR got stuck behind cages and probably had a good day too, crap he's on a CBR. These guys don't get it, scooters are h e c k-A-f u n. Huge power in it's place (race track) isn't really necessary on a city street, especially when your behind a cager texting at the stoplight.
