1. Detach the 4 prong plug from the rectifier. 2.Check the conductivity between terminals the following way with a multimeter on the ohms scale: There is a white, yellow, red, and green wire connected to each terminal. Checking W/Y=infinity---W/R=3K-50k ohms---W/G=infinity,---Y/R=infinity---Y/G=5k-100k ohms. Put one probe to each color as shown to get a reading. 3. When readings are not normal according to the above, you need a new rectifier. With a defective rectifier with the ignition switch on, you won't get a reading on the scooter voltmeter for the battery. Also with the high overcharge with a defective rectifier, you may find the battery is ruined, so check it out while you have the multimeter handy.
