Well, I bought a Coolster F5 for $550. A good deal I think. It runs well, however, I think it idles a little high. Like 3000rpm I think. Also the headlights are very dim. They vary with how much the engine is revved. However, I don't think it is the battery, because the electric starter seems to start the bike just fine. Also, It nears 60 kmph when cruising a straight. I heard there was a way to make it go faster by loosening a nut or something to that effect? Any help and advice is appreciated. Thanks Dustin

When you say that the lights vary with how much the engine is revved, do you mean by a lot or a little? It is normal for them to vary somewhat. That is because the faster the engine turns the more "juice" your lights have. But if you cannot even drive in the dark because they are that low then you may have a problem.

I would defiantly say I don't feel comfortable riding at night. And they do only vary a little bit, but no matter what they are too dim to ride at night.

First off here is simple thing to do. Use a voltmeter and get the reading of the battery with the scoot off. Then get the reading when the scoot is running. Post your numbers up here. That may help with the diagnostics.

10V DC when it is off. 0V DC when the scoot is started. Bad I assume?

Ok. When testing with the scoot running put the positive side of the meter to the positive side of the battery and the neg side of meter to ground on scoot. When off my battery showed just around 12v and when on it got to just under 14v. If I plug the meter up like I first told you, straight to the battery, I also get 0v when it is running.

Off : 10VDC POS to NEG ............... On: 10 VDC POS to GND

Ok. So no fluctuation on the meter while running right? Sounds like a charging problem to me. Maybe test the stator. You will have to do a search for that though as I am not sure how it's done. Seen the way before but can't remember it.

I can't find any information on the internet about my bike. How would I find the stator?

Weird.. I took my scoot for a ride off base, to see how fast it goes. 47 MPH. Now, the weird part is on my way home it was getting dark, so I turned on my head lights. Not any brighter this time, but I did realize that my RPMs while cruising at said speed dropped from 7500 RPMs to about 4000 RPMs when the head lights were on, not for the parking lights, but the head lights. Whats up with that?

I looked in the batt compartment, and under the seat compartment so I know it is not there. Maybe try removing the front shield.. There is a big screw on the front and two holding it to the steering column, take the three screws out and wiggle the shield off. Maybe in there.

Also, towards the bottom below the "glove box" there is a removable piece, I took that off too, nothing...
