Previously, I wrote (as best as possible), an objective article on how best to decide where to purchase a scooter. Online vs B&MThis was designed primarily to help first-time buyers in their decision by sharing previous experiences in a brief manner. While remaining objective, I would like to create a simple and easy format for first-timers to see the good and bad out there, all in one place. Here now, is the compiled list. Feel free to add to the list, we can always use more. Just copy and paste the format shown below. Safe Scootin Stewy PS - Newbies considering online purchases...visit this link: Best Online Dealer Opinions----------------------------------------------------------- Scooter:Motofino MF150QT-2 Bought: Online Company:Ecobikeusa.com Purchase Experience:10+, Vince is the best. Answered ALL questions and helped in every way possible. Price:$1300.00 Pros of Scoot: Quality, Handling, Engine response, Looks and more for the price. Cons of Scoot:Opening storage compartment is tricky...that's it Pros of Method: After researching, could not find local dealer, however, except for not trying the bike, purchase experience was perfect with Ecobikeusa.com Cons of Method: None really--shipment was fast. Received bike in three days. Link: Try Ecobikeusa.com, you won't regret it! Notes: Great underated scooter for the price. Great quality! Solid Bike!

Pros of Method: Really liked what I heard from Jim Johnson at Bandit and the experience proved I made a good choice Cons of Method: All the problems of shipping, had some shipping damage to one scooter Link: Notes: Bandit was about as good an online experience as they get. There was some shipping damage that Bandit took care of quickly. I've had a few other issues with the scooters (mostly caused by me, not the scooters) and Bandit has been there to help, either by phone or email every time. A real quality operation.

The manufacturer was very understanding during this ordeal however and let me hold onto it until they sent me the correct scooter. BMS = Great Scooters, MXMotorSports = Dealer only trying to get your money!!!

Scooter: Keeway Maxtrix 150 Bought: Financed through local NJ motorcycle/scooter dealer Company: Help Me Ride in Metuchen, NJ Purchase Experience: 10+ (since I didn't feel like puttng out $2k at one shot, these wonderful guys took care of me) Price: $2,000 Pros of Scoot: 1. gas savings 2. fun to drive 3. nice alternative to driving my 08 Ford Explorer Cons of Scoot: 1. not crazy about not having a regular gas gauge, 2. wish I would have two front headlights instead of one 3. wish my 150 was a 250- Pros of Method: they are 10 minutes from my house, easy to deal with and get to in case I have problems Cons of Method: none at all Notes: Everyone should own a scooter!
Scooter: Konced 150T11 Bought: Online Company: County Motorsports Purchase Experience: 1 of 10 Price: $1,374 shipping included Pros of Scoot: Inexpensive (why I chose Chinese), fun to ride and good on gas, a new hobby. Cons of Scoot: My online experience was very bad. Communication from retailer impossible. They didn't answer phones and all message machines full. Scooter got most of the way to my home, then stranded at shipping facility for a week because retailer neglected to pay shipping bills, promised $150 credit if did not cancel order, which I never received. Tried to get some tech support at first over an alarm issue, but service tech (if there is one) never returned phone calls. Waited 3 weeks for my docs, even though paid extra for overnight shipping of docs. Pros of Method: Saved a little money by ordering online. Cons of Method: Not worth the grief. Would spend a little more with a trusted local dealer next time. Link: Notes: Didn't do enough research on the dealer beforehand.
Scooter:KYMCO Vitality 4T 49cc '07 Bought: Local B/M (~45 miles from my home) Company: X-It Cycles, League City, TX Purchase Experience: 9.5 Price: List $2199 - Paid $2100 due to a scratch that they showed me on bottom of floor board panel - I had not seen it Pros of Scoot: 2-Year Warranty, Quiet, Extremely Economical Cons of Scoot: Somewhat slow acceleration, minor rattle on front cowling, mirrors too low Pros of Method: have never bought a major purchase on line - prefer to see the dealer face-to-face Cons of Method: I did not have bad experience Link: www.xitcycles.com Notes: a new local dealer opened.....he'll do warranty work for me.....don't have to travel ~45 for service.....but I still will recommend the B/M I bought from
Scooter: Lambretta Due50 (upgraded ADLY Panther) Bought: Local store Company: M&M Motorsports, Kansas City, MO Purchase Experience: 8 Price: $2,200 Pros of Scoot: No mechanical problems so far (3 months & counting), good top speed for a 50cc (over 40 mph flat ground carrying 265 lbs), 285 pound passenger weight limit, unique/funky look, sips oil for a 2 stroke, 2 year warranty, nice large seat with real foot pegs (my son often rides with me - that's why I needed a 260lbs plus weight limit). Cons of Scoot: kick start is difficult (compared to my old Honda Aero 50 and former Vespa), seat does not have a remote open button (you use the same key you run the scooter with), odd gas cap (squeeze the 2 sides together and pull out...but it's difficult). Pros of Method: I wanted a physical shop to handle any warranty issues. Cons of Method: Higher cost than online. Link: www.kcscootertrends.com Notes: MCO still at dealers shop (she's too lazy to mail, I'm to lazy to go get it since it's 30 minutes away), but I don't need to register a 50cc in Missouri so there's no rush.
Scooter: Lance Duke Touring 150cc bought: b&m dealer Company: Quality Auto Body in Fargo, North Dakota Purchase Experience: K.J., dealer, most helpful and pleasant to do business with during and after the sale Price: $2000 Pros of Scoot: fun to drive, stable, quick, and handles 2 with no problems, very economical and comfortable to ride Pros of Method: K.J. let me test-drive the Duke, and they loaded the bike for me, and I really enjoy the after-sale help from him and mechanic. Cons of Method: He is 80 miles south of Grand Forks Link: www.qualityautobodyshop.com Notes: Called K.J. about new tire valve stems to replace the oems. He called around to several places and got back to me that O'Rielly Auto Parts in Grand Forks had the stems in the sizes I need. He has quite a few of various Lance models in stock and in different colors. I would gladly deal with him when replacement time comes. (P.S. I am not related to him btw)
Scooter: Lance Duke 250cc Touring Bought: B&M dealer Company: Ironhorse motorsports in so cali Purchase Experience: 10 very helpful and informative for my 1st scooter purchase Price: $2750 after tax, license and dmv fees, Pros of Scoot: size, speed, look Cons of Scoot: difficulty removing panels, inaccurate speedometer, amount of maintanance Pros of Method: wanted security of a dealer and didnt want to go through issues with dmv Cons of Method: probably paid a lil more but in cali we have no choice-lol Link: ironhorse-inc.com/ Notes: delivered it for free and got my scooter in about 3 days since local to lance distributer. Would strongly suggest
Scooter: Lance GS-R 150cc Bought: Local Dealer Company: Mountain Motorsports, Ontario, CA Purchase Experience: 7/10 Price: $1700 Pros of Scoot: great fuel mileage, very sporty looking, easy to work on Cons of Scoot: average quality (expected), small tires (13"), mirrors are terrible Pros of Method: Registered bike for me, got it the same day, warranty repairs Cons of Method: sales pressure, limited selection, huge service backlog (2 weeks at times) Link: none Notes: I am very happy that I purchased through a local dealer as opposed to online. I spent more, but I didn't have to hassle with the MSO/Registration problems or the parts problems.
Scooter: Lance GS-R 150, Blue Bought: www.extremescooters.biz Company: [If you choose to share the company] Purchase Experience: 8 Price: 1499 Pros of Scoot: Price, style, runs well, turns heads, people ask about it all the time Cons of Scoot: Parts hard to find, warranty USELESS!, cheap body panels and speed nuts. Pros of Method: Price Cons of Method: Possible shipping damage, luckily I had none/ nearest dealer in next state. Notes: If you don't know anything about scooters, don't buy a cheap Chinascoot. If you want to learn and like to tinker, get one. Overall for the money I think it's worth is so far.
Scooter: Lance GS-R 150 Bought: On-line Company: www.extremescooters.biz Purchase Experience: 10 Price: $1,399 w/ Free Shipping (well that's how it was promoted on the site....but receipt showed $1,199 + $200 shipping, which was cool since it saved me a few bucks when i had to pay the sales tax to the DMV ;D ) Pros of Scoot: have had it about 3 months and so far so good....no problems yet....looks good...it's a popular brand & model, so plenty of info. resources available on the forum...price practically makes it disposable, so no substantial financial investment Cons of Scoot: None yet. Pros of Method: i researched online and decided on the exact scooter i wanted, so then it was just a matter of finding an online dealer with a decent rep that carried the scoot for the lowest price....it's also somewhat funny being able to buy a street legal motorized vehilce online with a credit card Cons of Method: IF there had been problems with the scoot or MCO, dealing with the selling company could have been frustrating...luckily all went well Notes: Never got official shipping notification from seller as promised, but was pleasantly surprised when trucking company called me asking for convenient delivery time/day...scooter had already arrived in my city....about 1 week from order date....another pleasant surprise was the MCO was already in my mailbox when scooter arrived ;D....registration/plating was smooth and painless
Scooter: Lance GS-R 150 2008 Bought: Local Dealer Company: Dan's Mopeds, Eau Claire, WI Purchase Experience: 10 - absolutely no sales pressure and I got to test ride it before making a final decision. Price: $1,550.00 Pros of Scoot: Great price, nice ride, envy of all my neighbors and friends Cons of Scoot: PDI done by the dealer not very thorough. Pros of Method: Small, local dealer with a great reputation. Registered immediately and I drove it home that day. Owner advertises his personal cell phone and answers questions directly. Cons of Method: None that I can think of. Even if it meant getting a lower price I wouldn't have done this differently. Link: Notes: After only two days of owning my scooter I lost the nuts that connect the exhaust to the manifold underneath the scooter (due to the not so thorough PDI done by the dealer). However, it was an easy fix once correctly diagnosed.
Scooter: Lance GS-R 150 Bought: B&M Company: Green Motors in Santa Cruz Purchase Experience: 9.75 Price: $1565 Pros of Scoot: Lance's higher than average quality parts(IE belt and battery), nice body style and 13" tires. Cons of Scoot: Did not come with a storage box that attaches to the rack in the back like the GS-R had in previous models. The floor mat was not aluminum like they had on earlier models. Pros of Method: The GS-R 150 and a pink Vintage 150 were delivered to the dealership and a full PDI was done within a week and a half after the order was made. There was no damage on the scooters. The registration was done when scooters were picked up. Green motors has been and seems like a reliable dealership. Santa Cruz has a beach boardwalk and great seafood restaurants. Cons of Method: This Lance dealership, the closest one, is 30 miles away and only reachable by freeway. Link: scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.c....ad=14022&page=1 Notes: Green Motors provided a silver GS-R and a pink Vintage a week and a half after order.
SCOOTER: Lance GS-R 150 BOUGHT: Online COMPANY: motorxtremes.com PURCHASE EXPERIENCE: 5 PRICE: $1,699 shipped PROS OF SCOOT: Stylish, arrived in perfect shape CONS OF SCOOT: Didn't get first color choice, bigger and heavier than imagined PROS OF METHOD: Saved some money, no running around, MCO received quickly CONS OF METHOD: Virtually no dealer communication, no shipping notification or tracking number from dealer, never knew when/if scoot was coming, 4-week wait, trucker lost scoot for awhile, post-MCO dealer again uncommunicative, frustrating and worrisome experience. NOTES: No amount of online research can prepare one for the vagaries of purchasing a scoot online. Worst service (communication) ever for an online purchase, minor or major. Will not depend on dealer for any post-sale support.
Scooter: Lance intercept Bought: online Company: scootersarecool.com Purchase Experience: 7 Price: $1649 Pros of Scoot: got exactly what I ordered, condition as promised, shipping was messed up. received free helmet for my trouble Cons of Scoot: lack of communication Pros of Method: money is tight, price was the driving factor Cons of Method: Felt like in limbo, felt like i put money in a big black hole Notes: I would and probably will order from them again. Over all it wasn't that bad just needed more communication.
Scooter Lance Intercept 2008 Bought: on-line Company: awesomebuggy.com Purchase Experience: 7.5 Price: $1799 w/free trunk (July 17) Pros of Scoot: price, upgraded hoses & spark plug, decent quality Cons of Scoot: drop-shipped (small scratches, cage torn apart), Headlight bulb & plug faulty, cheap body screws, not much room under seat Pros of Method: price and no local non-Japanese dealer Cons of Method: if something goes wrong (and it has), have to wait for parts and then fix myself Problems: Headlight bulb plug (waiting for a new one), broke exhaust bolt (my fault but spent about 4 hours fixing), bolt that drains gear oil will not fully tighten (will work on that this weekend). Notes: I'm a complete dweeb, but I wanted to learn how to work on one myself, and wanted to spend under $2000 to see if I would really like commuting on this thing or not. Did find that father-in-law of good friend is retired military plane mechanic and wants to help, so I'm feeling pretty good about things- plus you got this forum
Scooter: Lance Milan (150cc) Bought: Local Dealer Company: SF Motoretta, San Francisco, CA Purchase Experience: 9 out of 10 Price: $1699 Pros of Scoot: No mechanical problems yet, great acceleration, looks great. Cons of Scoot: Low top end (55 mph max on straight and level), de-paneling is a lot of work, rattles a lot (I got rid of the rattles using car door edge protectors in appropriate places) Pros of Method: Wasn't available online, and it was the scooter I wanted. Cons of Method: Dealers always try to get you to buy more such as extended warranty, accessories, upgrade models, etc... I hate walking into dealerships. Link: My experience was fine, no links to anything about it. Notes: If you are mechanically inclined and like to tinker with small engines, online will work fine (as well as patience) unless you are in California. If in CA, go to a dealership. Its easy to tell when the dealer is trying to sell you something you don't want.... his lips are moving. Do your homework and know what you want in advance, then you do the talking. I completed my transaction with my dealer completely via email. When I went to the store it was less than 10 minutes before I was riding my scooter away. And he has been great at answering my questions via email since. So essentially I did an online purchase, but I picked it up at the dealer. And the PDI by the dealer was flawless. I tore the scooter apart myself afterward, and didn't need to do a thing. Even changing the oil revealed the dealer had done it already. Big time kudos to SF Motoretta.
Scooter: Lance - Phoenix 150 2008 Bought: B&M Company: Scooter Dynasty - Monterey Pk, CA Tel: 323-265-0626 Purchase Experience:10 Really, really good Price:$1995 Pros of Scoot: 1. Very nice, straight-forward sales conversation with Vince...no pressure 2. Helpful answers to questions. Very familiar with lots of brands 3. Repairman on site, Ray Cons of Scoot: none Pros of Method: Local, I can drive to their shop in 35 minutes Cons of Method: definitely none Notes: This shop is awesome! Had a problem the 1st week and they fixed with no cost to me. Always answer phone or return phone calls promptly. 1 year warranty. 3rd week I screwed up something and they fixed at no cost to me. Super friendly. My bike runs fantastic at 260 miles. There is a plus to buying locally. If the slightest thing goes wrong there is someone around to call. Vince takes my call and says...bring it by and we'll take a look at it. He and Ray are great to go to with any kind of question relating to this scooter or any other scooter for that matter. They are not the money hungry, rush-you-out-of-the place types. You can stop by there and spend as much time as you want before you by. I went to a place near Santa Monica and it took forever for someone to even walk up to me. Finally, it was some kid who knew nothing about scooters. I had done my homework and knew tons more than he did. I called a place in the Valley (Burbank) twice and the guy never called me back. You can imagine what would happen if you had a later problem. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with SCOOTER DYNASTY!!!
Scooter: Lance Venice 150 Bought: Local Dealer Company: Zen Auto Sacramento, CA Purchase Experience: 10 Price: $1799 Pros of Scoot: great fuel mileage, nice style(everyone likes it) Cons of Scoot: the trunk is a little small Pros of Method: Registered bike for me, got it the same day, warranty repairs Cons of Method: I put $200 down and he held the scooter for two despite the high demand Link: none Notes: same comment as another member wrote I am very happy that I purchased through a local dealer as opposed to online. I spent more, but I didn't have to hassle with the MSO/Registration problems or the parts problems. Really good quality scooter, my neighbor that owns a Vespa really likes my scooter too.
Scooter: Lance Venice 150 Metallic Red Bought: Locally Company: Retro Unlimited, Inc. Purchase Experience: 10 Price: $1450, TT&L Pros of Scoot: Inexpensive, dependable, pretty, runs quietly, great gas mileage (around 75MPG) and it gets noticed Cons of Scoot: Rough ride, blows easily in wind, and seat is very hard Pros of Method: Price, and getting the scooter repaired easily Cons of Method: None, really Link: none, email address of dealer is: retrounlimitedinc@yahoo.com Notes: We have had a few problems with the scoot that were corrected. Have had muffler come loose, which the dealer drove a long way to fix, ran terrible, which was fixed with a new intake manifold, had a high speed blow out (rear), the dealer came after it and towed it in, the ignition switch went bad, it was replaced, and the rear brakes and brake light stopped working, which were fixed the same day it was taken in. The headlight only worked intermittently except on hi beam, the problem seems to have corrected itself. All was covered under the warranty, except for the cost of the towing, tire and mounting. 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty. The muffler and chrome muffler cover rusted rapidly.
Scooter: Linhai Aeolus Retro 150 Bought: B & M Company: HH Motorsports Amelia, Ohio Purchase Experience: 9-10 Price: $1699 Pros of Scoot: The quality of the scoot is good -vs- price I paid, the mpg are as reported, has been easy to service and a hoot to ride. Cons of Scoot: So far none at 3 months/800 miles. Pros of Method: HH has access to parts (cracked windshield and had a new one in one week!) and I like having a person I can talk to in person should the need arise. Cons of Method: Again, none at this point. Link: www.hhmotorsports.us/index.html
Scooter: Linhai Aeolus 300 Bought: online, Company: Bandit Motorsports Purchase Experience: 6, mainly to extended waiting period of nearly seven weeks Price: 3299.00 Pros of Scoot: Very good quality, good power even with two aboard, very little upkeep Cons of Scoot: none so far Pros of Method: not available locally Cons of Method: long waiting period Link: Notes: very happy I purchased the Linhai. Would do it again. Except maybe wait for winter when sales are slower and waiting is less.
Scooter: Linhai 300 Bought: On line Company: Valley Scooters Purchase Experience: 5 Price: $2,600.00 Pros of Scoot: Value, Performance, Looks Cons of Scoot: Lack of Service network, non standard paint colors, poor replacement tire selection Pros of Method: The on line dealer had a better price and there aren't any B & M dealers for Linhai in my area. Cons of Method: If and when you need service or parts in many cases the on line dealer can't or won't help, your warranty is worthless. Link: scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.c....ead=9958&page=1 Notes: If you are some what mechanical and teachable then buying a scooter on line can be a good value, if you are not then you should buy from a local reputable dealer. Not all scooters are created equal do your homework prior to purchase. Ride Safe, wear protective gear always.
Scooter: MC-13-159 Bought: Online Company: Scooternitro Purchase Experience: 3 Price: $1489 Pros of Scoot: Very nice scooter...700 Miles...no problems. Cons of Scoot: Communication as to delivery time was poor and 3 week delay in paperwork Pros of Method: Value for money Cons of Method: Other then getting into a credit card dispute, very limited means of addressing problems. Parts have to come from China. Link: none Notes: I wasn't charged for the scooter until after I received it.
Scooter: MC-54-250B Bought: Online Company: MrScooters Purchase Experience: 10 Price: $1835 Pros of Scoot: Nice Looks, LOTS OF STORAGE SPACE,Runs great! Cons of Scoot: Cheaper quality Plastics break easily, Radio isn't very good, Speedometer isn't accurate past 40mph.. Pros of Method: Lower price then I could find locally for a comparable scoot. Only thing comparable was a SunL dealer who wanted 2995 for one like the Bali, that was leaking antifreeze, and ran terrible. Cons of Method: slow communication, not able to see it before buying... Link: MRSCOOTERS Thread here on Scootdawg. Notes: This was a most pleasant online purchase experience. Though it drug out a bit, due to my own inability to decide on a scoot, and the fact that the first one I purchased, Bali, had overheating problems, so I decided to switch again to the MC-68-250B, which wasn't available in the US yet, so again had to switch to the MC-54-250, and ended up getting a MC-54-250B!YAY! I would not hesitate to buy from MrScooters again, and am very happy with my purchase and choice in sellers.
Scooter: MC54-250 244cc CFMoto Engine Blue Jonway/JMStar Bought: Online Company: stateoftheartpowersports.com Purchase Experience: 9 .. Seller kept me informed very well. Price: $2200 Pros of Scoot: Larger, Good speed and response. Large trunk. Looks great Cons of Scoot: Square tires(replaced with Michelins), vacuum fuel pump(replaced with electric) Pros of Method: Price Cons of Method: 1 month delivery but paperwork 2 days after. Link: scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.c....ay&thread=11445 Notes: I have had a few problems with the scoot that were corrected. Have added a taller windshield, LEDs, NGK Iridium plug and reflective pinstripe tape.
Scooter: Meitian Turbo Duo 50cc Bought: on-line from a full service dealer out of my area Company: www.scootertronics.com Purchase Experience: 10 Price: ?? Scooter was purchased stock and was extensively modified so it was more than the regular price, but less than adding on the same mods individually Pros of Method: Very thorough analysis of my needs, Dealer actually knows what he is selling, Dealer does not drop ship so what you buy is actually examined even if you don't have it prepped Cons of Method: Process requires time, Cost is greater, buying a product you have not actually put your hands on Notes: Dealer insisted on 'discussing my desires' for the scooter before getting into any particular scooter. This required several phone calls and a lot of 'hand holding' and explaining numerous options. Don't go to this dealer if you are looking for the lowest price, what you pay for here is service and a dealer that will back his line; And a machine.
Scooter: Meitian "Sport/R Turbo" MT50QT-2A 2008 Bought: local B&M Company: www.danielwebsterauto.com/sportrturbo.htm local B&M dealer Purchase Experience: Id rate it a 7 Price: $1695 Pros of Scoot: 90-100MPG , fun to drive , draws attention , great looking scoot , no special license needed , no insurance needed , Havent had one problem yet , register as a MOPED . Cons of Scoot: small tires , Cant get insurance in this state on a MOPED , 40MPH top speed , feel vulnerable , Pros of Method: Saw dealership and went in , looked nice and bought one . Cons of Method: still had to wait a few weeks for scoot i special orderd for a yellow one , rims were 12" instead of 13" as advertised . Link: Notes: forums about CHINESES scoots are few between , this one is tops ..... Too many accesories to buy , this site has a ton of shirts , stickers , magnets , ect .... www.zazzle.com/pd/find/qs-scooter just enter "scooter" in search ...
Scooter: MOTOBRAVO-TPB-50 Bought: online Company: MxMotorsports/MxMotortoys Purchase Experience: -1 = HORRIBLE Price: $899 (listed price) Pros of Scoot: Scoot is good- problems are w/dealer Cons of Scoot: repeated broken promises, outright lies- then they actually threatened me! Pros of Method: I ordered for my 17yr old son in GA- I'm in CA. Cons of Method: I thought this would be the best way- because of distance. Notes: I posted warnings about this "slick" dealer- although, it seems that I am not alone in my bad experiences with as this dealer is operating under different names and other in this Forum have had bad experiences too. Unfortunately, with the prices of gas rising, some dealers are going to treat customers like dirt and get away with it- too much demand.
Scooter: Qlink Pegasus 150 Bought: Dealer Company: local dealer Purchase Experience: 5. Took awhile from commitment to actually picking up scooter. It's been back at the dealers for 2+ weeks for what should have been an in & out fix. Price: $2.595. After tax dealer prep, tags, etc. around $2,900 Pros of Scoot: 16" wheels, larger size, looks Cons of Scoot: Long wait to actually make purchase, hesitiation on acceleration, length of time for service Pros of Method: To support B & M model of business Cons of Method: Hasn't turned out as beneficial as expected Link: Notes:
Scooter: Roketa Bali 150 Bought: Online Company: www.brandsplace.com/motorscooters.html Purchase Experience: 7 Price: $1220 delivered on 7/03 Pros of Scoot: Communication prior to purchase was excellent Delivery via USFC was excellent Scooter runs perfectly fine out of the box MCO arrived day after scoot Cons of Scoot: Communication after the purchase ($$ exchanged) only fair - I'm on my own as far as parts replacement goes. Took 3 calls and the threat of canceling to get a shipping notification - 11 days later than originally promised (37 days from order to delivery) Am I mechanically apt enough to work thru the inevitable problems inherent in China scoot, thereby negating the $2-4K savings versus Jap/Taiwan etc? Pros of Method: Local B&M had nearly the same price, but availability questionable. Cons of Method: Drop shipper 1600 miles away - 4 local B&M's w/in 15 miles Link: Notes: If you are mechanically adept a cheap China is alot of fun, otherwise stick to a "brand name" scoot. Local B&M may just be worth the $300-500 more than online if you're not
Scooter: Roketa Sicily 150cc Bought: Online Company: Scooternitro Purchase Experience: 8 Price: 1300.00 Pros of Scoot: Vintage look, Quick Acceleration, Color Cons of Scoot: Cold Start problems, Vibration over 30 MPH, Small trunk. Pros of Method: Quick and easy purchase Cons of Method: Not knowing what you purchased and the anticipation of shipping Link: Notes: I am happy overall with my purchase, I ride it everyday for leisure so far and still on my break in period. Firs ride was a hoot because I didnt check the tire pressure during PDI so I was sliding all over the place. Fixed and still running smooth.

Cons of Scoot: seat latch, plastic connectors, body parts Pros of Method: i wanted a brand new not ridden scooter i could "tweak" or setup myself. Cons of Method: substitution is possible, i wanted a tank model like the one i got (roketa) Link: [if you have an important link to a thread regarding your experience, place it here] Notes: i think dave bergman could only get roketa, at the time, and you have to stay on him and he will send warranty parts, no problem with warranty yet.

Scooter: SUNL SC-09 SL150 Bought: On-Line Company: www.atvdiscounter.com Purchase Experience: 7.5 Price: $998 Shipped Pros of Scoot: Saved $600 over local B&M Store. Has been reliable after a few minor "fixes" out of the box. Cons of Scoot: Initially lots of little things (within first 100 miles). Rides like a champ after PDI and break-in. Pros of Method: Saved $$ - Decent shipping time (Bike and MSO), One part was broken on arrival and was shipped out relatively quick. Cons of Method: ATV Discounters doesn't specialize in communication. You have to stay on them to get updates or replacement parts under warranty. Link: scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.c....ad=10616&page=4 Notes: I would only suggest buying a chinese scoot on-line to those that enjoy tinkering and fixing things. I had several issues in the first 100 miles. Was able to fix on my own, but some might not be able to.

I am thinking about buying from them again (and just plan on waiting).
Scooter: SYM DD 50 Bought: local, B&M Company: www.hotcustomcarts.com Purchase Experience: solid '10' don't think my dealer knew what he was sitting on for a new 2006 scoot. Price: $1129.00, around 12 bills with tax. Best deal I could find on the web for the same scoot was sixteen bills! My dealer did NOT charge PDI or destination fees. Pros of Scoot: Rock solid reliable for over 1500 kilometers so far, great gas mileage, FUN!!!, only need to drive on 4 wheels once in a blue moon. Cons of Scoot: Sometimes wish I'd got a bigger one, but none, really. Pros of Method: The one problem I've had was fixed immediately for free (stripped the gear box oil fill bolt when changing oil), no pressure cooler than h*ll dealer! Did a de-ristrict mod (pipe and jet) INSTALLED for less than I could find the pipe for on ebay/web! Cons of Method: He'll charge me if he has to pick my scoot up, so taking off the mirrors and wrestling the thing into the back of my pickup with topper is a bit of a pain, but hey, I ain't complaining! Notes: My scoot deal was 100% positive and helps to make up for my completely terrible life just lately.

Cons of Scoot: Wrong color, broken tail light, VERY CHEAP AND FRAGILE PLASTIC, 10” rear tire difficult to replace, Way too many issues and repairs needed early on and through out life cycle so far. Trusting the adds will only lead to heartache and bitterness. Cheap gets expensive. Reliability is worth a lot. You will be forced to learn a lot of things that you may not have wanted to learn. Buying Chinese was a poor choice for me. Tell your friends about this great forum. Read the Good/Bad dealer section.

The dealer staff is usually friendly, they just half-a$$ things sometimes, and may exaggerate a bit.
