i tried running it with the gas cap loose and then with no gas cap at all so i dont think its a venting problem i dont think i have a carbon canister unless you are talking about the one i have that has 3 hoses connected to it one to free air and one to the intake manifold and the other big one going to the bottom of the valve cover

today i took off the cylinder head and removed the valves when i put the valves in and moved them they were sticking a little like they werent moving very freely they were a little bit tight in there is this alright? anyway the valves did have a lot of gunk on them on both sides and on the piston head mostly in the middle the edges were pretty clean it looked like my head gasket was leaking on the bottom in the middle so i cleaned all of the gunk off as best as i could there is still some in the exhaust hole and a little on the intake valve stem i replaced the exhaust valve with a new one and put a new head gasket on i took it for a ride but im still having the same problems and then i remembered after all of that i forgot to check my valve clearances so i will do that tomorrow but i think i have worn valve guides and will require a new cylinder head

What's a stator and what does it do? A stator is basically a generator. There are various technical differences between a stator, generator and alternator but they all generate electricity.

I had exactly those symptoms and all it was was a frayed spark plug wire. A little electrical tape and I was back on the road. Not a problem since.
