narrowed my starting issue down to possibly a bad brake switch, no brake light when I pull on the left lever. Been looking all over the internet on how to fix it but no luck yet. I see some wires coming from the brake lever but once it gets tangled in with all the other wires I have no idea where it goes.
update, replaced the starter switch and brake switch, I think the start switch was the problem because it tried to start after replacing it (battery low though), noticed that they had one of the male connectors on the right front brake off and wrapped around one of the left brake wires, so I removed it (just pulled it out) put in the new ones and put all the male connectors in their proper place and all seems well so far. (kick started it, let it run for about 20 mins, then tried to start it and it worked.) Thanks for all the help.

take off the plastics and get to the actual workings of the lever. you'll see the switch. disconect the wires from it and turn on the key and touch the wires together and try to start it.

disconnect it and throw it away. make sure cover the wires with electrical tape. that rear brake light switch is very poorly designed. you use both brakes to stop anyway so the front brake light switch ( a bullet proof microswitch) will turn on the brake lights. just my 2 cents

I might just have to give that a try. Lance tech support seems to think that's the problem with my scoot. The rear brake switch is constantly "on".

If I disconnect it is there anything else that needs to be done? Should it still start with it completely disconnected? Where exactly is the switch located in the handle or further down the electrical line?

I did exactly like jackthefuzz did. My break light was stuck on so I started looking. First place I looked was the switch on hand brake and it was broke. Took it off, Taped the ends so they wouldn't touch, and start my scoot with my front brake. Brake lights comes on when I break with my front brake anyway. I may get a new switch in the future. But not real concerned about it now. Mojo

Sorry I didn't reply to your other thread about it and you may not want to start new ones with the same issues as they tend to get lost in the mix. It could be that the switch is stuck shut. squirt a little wd-40 into it and try to work it loose. Sometimes those little things just crap out. You should be able to see it just below the brake cable or master cylinder if it's a disk rear.. Just as Jack says, you can cut it and tape it, just remember to use your front brake too or you won't show any brake lights.
There could be one problem with cutting it though and if your scooter HAS to have the rear brake on to start and not the front, brake you're back to step one and have to fix it. Also if your state has inspections, then you will fail if you bypass it.

Thanks for the info, and sorry about the repost, Just thought it might make it easier for someone to answer the specific question about the brake switch. Going back to your check list again. Now noticing that none of the lights come on with the ignition switch turned to on. gas gauge works, battery meter works but no lights.

also noticed that after I start the engine (kick starting or using remote start) the lights then come on, but now noticing that applying pressure to either brake handle does not cause the brake lights to come on. sheesh what a pain (hate bad electronics)

Going to order a new brake switch and starter switch (just in case). How do these brake switches come off? Do they just pop out or is there a special way to get them to come out?

"narrowed my starting issue down to possibly a bad brake switch"
From the factory my bike had zero play in the brake handles and I had a similar problem...a couple of turns on the adjustment screw and the problem went away.

Been riding mine for about a month now with no problems until recently. Just up and stopped starting using the start switch. Kick start and remote start work fine.

Not much for responses to this question. I ordered a brake switch and starter switch, hoping one of these will fix the problem. I will look at the new brake switch when it arrives and see if I can figure out how it comes out and back in. I will let you know how it goes agent22.

I too have this issue... my parts should be warrantied from scooternitro.com
Starting the scoot with the front brake sucks. I have tried to adjust that screw, but i would like to figure how to remove/replace the switch.
Right now my issue is: Rear brake lever get's depressed and i got no ability to start and no brake lights.

Not sure if your problem is the same as mine, but in my first post on this thread I updated with the news on what I did to fix mine.

My new brake switch had two plastic tabs on it which get depressed as you slide it in, I noticed the housing around this part there are two holes on either side where these tabs are probably meant to clip into. On my scooter it looked like the original brake switch was never rotated far enough to get these tabs to click into place so I was able to remove my old one by just pulling it out.
