I have had my Lance Phoenix 150 cc for 2 days so this is an initial report. I changed the oil as soon as I got it home and again at 120 miles. I've got it up to 150 miles so far. First off, being a new scootee, I can say that unless I'm getting a car full of groceries or there's inclement weather, I'm never going back in the cage again. This scoot is fun fun fun! I picked this scoot up from the dealer, and the mechanic hadn't seen one before. He said "you special ordered this, didn't you? We're going to have to get more of these into the showroom." I ordered the burgundy color from the dealer, it was in California within a week, and in Memphis 4 days later. The cheapest I found the Phoenix online was $2099 (while they were still being drop shipped), and the dealer matched that price. Nowadays you have to go through a dealer, with just a couple exceptions I've heard. The 12 month warranty covers the engine parts only, and does not cover labor. That said, the scoot was perfect when I picked it up. No need to replace any damaged parts. The dealer checked all bolts to make sure they were tight, checked all electrical parts, and adjusted the idle. He said to come back at 300 miles for a free oil change. I asked him if he had any opinions about hard break-in vs. easy break-in, and he didn't have a strong preference either way. He was a bit surprised, saying most people don't even know what a break-in period is! I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of quality from a Chinese scooter. Honestly some of the reports of inadequacies in other scoots had me concerned... I mean... PDI instructions such as "check your gas tank for animal droppings". What was I getting into? Happy to report that I am very enthusiastic about the quality of this new scoot. Here are some observations: the plastic on this scoot does not look cheap or inferior. The floor board is solid, not some matt that can lift up and come off. That because the battery (a YUASA battery!) is under the seat. It comes with a NGK spark plug, high quality rubber tire stems, not the dangerous brass/rubber ones you've read about. Let's see... high quality battery, NGK plug, quality tire stems...that's three items checked off my PDI without me having to do anything!). I haven't taken the shell off to inspect the engine or components, but the rubber hoses I see look pretty decent to me. I will "look under the hood" when I get some time. The road test was great... got it up to 68 miles per hour on a straight away, so I won't be doing any engine mods for increased speed. The 16 inch wheels give a very smooth ride. No uncomfortable vibrations (to my untrained brain) at any speed. My wife and I riding together passed a Hummer yesterday, and I just grinned ear to ear! I'll report more later when I know more, but for now, it's back on the road for me (looking for any excuse to scoot!) Here's a pic of me and the Mrs. neuro

Very sweet ride and a great price for getting one from a dealer! I looked into getting that scoot when I first was shopping but they weren't yet available.

I'm glad to hear your having a positive experience. Nice ride! I have a Euro 150 LE coming sometime this week. From GS Motorsports .com . It looks something like yours. It has the 16 inch wheels also and is blue. I hope my experience is good like yours. Have you heard of the one I'm getting?

YESSSSSS!!! I got a lance duke 250 in the same color and I just love seeing other bikes rock the burgundy. I had a similar experience where the hoses looked good and things were tight and fuses were good from the start. Yeah I wish the 250 bike had the tire size of the Phoenix but yeah it's got a very sporty look and no one can tell you to "get a real bike" when your passing them on that thing. Yeah if i get a 150 to go along with my 250 ima look into that model cause i'm loving the look!
CONGRATS!!!

Looks very nice. Specs list it with a 61 inch wheel base which is pretty long and a 33 inch seat height...really high. How do you fit on that. I am 6'2" and the Pegasus has a 31 inch seat height which allows me to only get the balls of my feet on the ground at a stop. Also, adjustable rear shocks...nice feature. Looks like the same top box I have on the Pegasus.
Drive safe and I hope it gives you many pleasurable and trouble free miles.

Congrats on the new scoot. My wife has the exact same one and same color. Only has 105 miles, and loving it. It is very impressive looking.

Bob, I'm 5'11", and am comfortable with the size of the scoot. Maybe it's narrower than your scoot... but I can put both feet on the ground while seated comfortably. neuro

68mph!!! how much do you weigh?

Post by neuro on Jul 21, 2008 5:46:51 GMT -5
I weigh 185. With both my wife and I riding together we got it up to 58 mph (the Hummer was only going about 52 mpg). But I have not checked the speedo with GPS for accuracy.
I'm loving those 16 inch wheels, and the acceleration at the traffic lights is great. I pull right out in front ot the cars.
Acidburn, the pearl white looks sweet too. How much did you pay at the dealership?

I'm loving those 16 inch wheels, and the acceleration at the traffic lights is great. I pull right out in front of the cars. The invasion of 16" rims on scooters is just starting to become a new trend. Just wait... after a year of driving that... sell it... and upgrade to a 200cc or 260cc... with the 16" rims. The new Australian supercharges should be on the market by that time, and hopefully DOT and street legal. (They are only in Australia, and only on 125cc and 150cc scooters. Not Lance, Peugot scooters. A real super charger, ot what I have. LOL.)

Neuro, Just as I suspected, my legs are getting shorter . I would be interested in seeing a picture of the underseat storage and the space in that glove box area. I really like the looks of that scooter. Bob

OTD on mine was around 1900 but I bought before the rush! Looks like my Cadenza. Identical, really. It's a good scoot. Enjoy it! Your Fly Cadenza is made by the same manufacture as Lance and Twist n Go. Phoenix, Cadenza and GS-150 all share the same parts interchangeabilty. Minus some body panels but underneath is the same.

I checked my speedo with GPS today and confirmed my suspicion...the speedo is about 10 - 15 % fast. That means my max speed is about 57 - 58 mph. Not too shabby all the same. Plenty fast enough for me on these city streets and country roads. My job is about 9 miles away via city streets and I'm there in 15 minutes.

Just found the time to check my Phoenix's Speedo and Odo with my GPS. The Speedo is dead on! It's within 1 mph out to 45 mph, as far as I went. The Odo on the other hand reads 14% high.
In other news, my wife laid down her Vintage. She's has some road rash but she's fine. She was going too fast and lost it. The scoot has some road rash too, but it still runs like a champ.

So nice to see the Lance scoots taking off. I love mine and prefer it way over my motorcycle.

An earlier post asked how much storage room was under the seat. Not much! By putting the battery under the seat, much of the typical storage area is gone. Here's a pic: There's only a space measuring a little over 10 inches by 4 inches. Just enough room for a scooter cover or a Coleman 32 oz. aluminum bottle that I use for extra fuel. So I find myself using the trunk quite often, rather than putting my stuff in a backpack on my back. There is some storage area in the front as usual: I've put 450 miles on this scooter in 16 days... loved every minute of it. Overall I am very satisfied with this scoot for it's performance considering what I paid for it. I would definitely recommend the Phoenix over other Lance models because of the smooth ride the 16 inch wheels provide. I had some time this weekend so I pulled off the panels. I'll post the results in a new thread. neuro

Looks very cool; I'm thinking of purchasing this. It would be my first scooter, and I'm excited at the prospect. I too only work about 7 miles from my place, so this looks pretty good (except for the lack of under-seat storage). Out of curiosity, what (if any) type of 'learning curve' is there for a newbie to scootering?
